I transmigrated and got a husband and a son!

Chapter 8: List of suspects

The death of the original Heaven didn't matter to the new soul's business. If another attempt occurred, she was certain she would emerge from it unscathed. She had lived a life full of dangers; being alert at all times had been an unconscious practice just like breathing. Thus, her confidence.

But now that the circumstances needed it, Heaven had to do a thorough review of these memories.

Heaven didn't waste a second, rushing back to her room to find a notebook. Fortunately, she had a few of them in her room. After successfully finding a pen, she jumped on the bed and leaned against the headboard. Heaven cozied up her knees bent with the notebook on her lap.

"Let's see," she hummed, tapping the tip of the pen on her chin.

The general life of the original Heaven was already clear. Heaven used to be an actress, but sadly, she gave up her career at the height of her fame to give birth to a child. She married a business magnate, Dominic Zhu, and together, they had a son. They named Sebastian Zhu.

Heaven and Dominic didn't have a good relationship from the get-go. Their marriage made it worse. Mostly because Heaven blamed the man who impregnated her.

"Even if Heaven is a neglectful mother and wife, who doesn't feel any remorse for her son, I don't think her husband would kill her," Heaven said, shook her head, then closed her eyes to think even deeper.

She didn't want to rule out the possibility the person who strangled her to death was Heaven's husband. However, the new Heaven was certain it was not him. Why? Firstly, she remembered the feeling of the person's arm who strangled the original Heaven to death. It was far from Dominic's arm; she could tell just by the size of it. Secondly, Dominic didn't need her dead. If he wanted her out of his life, he could have done so through legal means. For instance, divorce.

"Unless, of course, he is sick in the head," she grumbled, keeping her eyes shut. "I don't think he's crazy enough to kill his wife like that. I've seen all types of crazy people and I know when I see one. Though he might be a little crazy, but not in such an ugly way." — the last part was biased, though.

From the original owner's memories, the current soul could list down a few who could've and willing to hurt her.

Heaven slowly reopened his eyes with ease reigning her countenance, like a monk waking up to his meditation.

"First," Heaven twirled the pen with her fingers before she started writing the first name of her list of suspects.

Mrs. Deng.

Heaven had met her earlier. The head maid, Mrs. Deng was an arrogant lady who liked exercising her power and playing the role of the matriarch of the house. She was already in her late forties, but her attitude around the master of the house was different from the usual attitude she had toward others.

"It could mean she was simply trying to curry favor from my husband. But then again, Heaven caught this woman trying out Heaven's clothes when she thought no one was watching," Heaven murmured solemnly, recalling the unpleasant memory that resurfaced in her mind. "Hah… what a sicko."

Next, "Ivy Wei."

Before Dominic married Heaven, there was a woman in his life that everyone thought he'd eventually marry. That woman was Ivy Wei. She was the heiress of one of the biggest insurance companies in the country and partnered with the most popular car brands in the market.

Heaven met this woman twice throughout her five-year marriage with Dominic. But even though she only met this woman two times, Ivy Wei left a remarkable impression that only deepened the original Heaven's insecurities.

Ivy Wei was a sophisticated, smart, and career-driven woman. Her strong ties with the Zhu Family made everyone assume she would marry Dominic. Even during family gatherings, her name would be mentioned a few times, regardless if Heaven was there or not.

"They always say they thought this and that yada yada, but it was never confirmed." Heaven comforted herself at the theory, shrugging. "I don't think they had a thing, though. No matter how perfect they look together, I'm still prettier. Now, I'm not only prettier, but smarter, fiercer, and… sweeter."

Heaven giggled as if she wasn't worried about her upcoming divorce.

The only reason Heaven listed Ivy Wei's name on her suspect list was because of jealousy. Not the current Heaven getting jealous of the woman, but the other way around.

"I've seen people like her who believe there was nothing in this life they can't get," she mumbled, straightening her back after writing Ivy Wei's name. "Most of them would go through extreme means and people would be surprised how a person's greed, ambition, and illusion of their perfect life could ruin other people's lives."

"Next!" Heaven rubbed her chin as she pondered the list of suspects. Since these memories were new to her, she had to go through them over and over to remember people who might want her dead.

After minutes of recalling her memories, Heaven knitted her brows and said, "Right."

"Paula Shen." — Heaven's one and only friend.

Paula Shen was Heaven's high school best friend. She and the original Heaven entered the entertainment industry together. However, only Heaven found fame while Paula only got small roles thanks to Heaven's connection.

Heaven would usually take Paula to her gigs so the latter could build her own connections as well. Since Heaven was just a rising star, she couldn't force others to give her only friend big roles as she had to establish a strong foundation herself. However, the 'tragedy' happened and Heaven had to leave the limelight.

Paula Shen was now a known actress, and she was still friends with Heaven. She was the only person who regularly visited Heaven, giving her friendly advice, and being the supportive shoulder Heaven needed. But alas, no matter how good a person's facade was, the current Heaven was far too keen not to notice.

"Every time that damn woman comes here, she always plays the role of a wife and a mother. She got too comfortable in the home Heaven was not familiar with. She even gave food to her friend's husband and son. How dare she use me as an excuse? Bitch, please," Heaven couldn't help but roll her eyes at the memories of the original Heaven.

The original Heaven didn't think much about her friend's sneaky gesture, nor did she detect Paula's destructive advice that was disguised as friendly pieces of advice. If the current Heaven was going to be honest, she would say the original Heaven was a bit… stupid.

Heaven shook her head as she was getting sidetracked. She has a lot of memory to sort through. She continued writing names in the notebook, jotting down everyone's names, including her in-laws, some business rivals, and other people the original Heaven would never imagine capable of harming her.

No matter how shallow a person's reason might be, the new Heaven had to take in all possibilities. After all, she was once an infamous leader of a notorious assassination group. And if she learned something from that life, that was humans would want a person dead even for the most shallow and most ridiculous reasons.
