I Tamed a Pokémon and Traveled to This World

Chapter 9: Chapter 9: The First Badge, the Cascade Badge!

"Ralts, use Confusion!"

Hearing the command, Ralts was about to use Confusion when Dewgong dove into the water with incredible speed. The thick ice surface prevented Ralts from seeing Dewgong's position. Ralts looked around, but in its blind spot, Dewgong suddenly burst out of the ice and slammed its head fiercely into it.

However, having spent several months with Ethan and being accustomed to battles, Ralts, after a brief moment of surprise, used Teleport to dodge once again.

"Dewgong, use Ice Shard!"

Dewgong opened its mouth wide again, condensing many ice fragments, and shot them at the newly appeared Ralts. A fierce explosion, with ice and floating platform debris flying everywhere, enveloped Ralts.

However, when the dust settled, to Daisy and the others' surprise, although hit by Ice Shard, Ralts not only withstood the attack but, judging by its condition, Ice Shard clearly hadn't caused it much damage!

"Huh? That's strange!?" Daisy exclaimed in surprise. "Type-wise, Psychic/Fairy-type Ralts and Water-type Dewgong shouldn't have a type disadvantage against each other, should they? And Ice Shard is an Ice-type move, so why did it inflict such minimal damage?"

"Ms. Daisy," Ethan chuckled, "I presume your Dewgong's Ability is Thick Fat?"

The Thick Fat Ability means that a Pokémon with this Ability only receives half damage when attacked by Ice-type or Fire-type moves. Hearing him suddenly bring up Abilities, Daisy was a bit confused but still nodded.

"That's right, but what about it?"

Ethan shrugged, "My Ralts's Ability is Trace, allowing it to perfectly copy Dewgong's Thick Fat Ability. That's why your Ice-type moves pose no threat to it."

"I see!" Daisy then realized, giving a wry smile. "So, at the very beginning of the battle, it already copied Dewgong's Ability?"

"Yes."

Seeing Ethan confirm it, Daisy said with resignation, "I must say, that's a rare Ability indeed; it certainly caught me off guard. But I won't give up because of that!"

"Dewgong, use Aqua Jet!"

At the same time Daisy gave her command, Ethan also spoke: "Ralts, use Magical Leaf!"

Before Ralts, countless leaves appeared out of thin air. These faintly glowing leaves spun, compressed, and then continuously flew toward Dewgong, colliding with the incoming stream of water and resulting in a fierce explosion. However, when the dense mist cleared, Magical Leaf had not only canceled out Aqua Jet but even wounded Dewgong inside!

Under attack, Dewgong was forced onto the ice layer.

Grass beats Water, super effective! This made Daisy frown. It was simply too difficult to deal with! But sentiment aside, the battle had to continue.

"Ralts, use Confusion!"

"Dewgong, quickly get back into the water!"

Both Trainers spoke simultaneously. However, having learned from the previous experience, Ralts didn't let Dewgong get its way this time. With focused attention, Ralts acted preemptively. Before Dewgong could even move, Ralts enveloped it with Confusion, lifting it into the air.

Under the Confusion attack, Dewgong cried out in pain. No matter how much it struggled, it was in vain, unable to break free from Confusion's hold. After rising to a sufficient height, as Ralts's arm swung down, Dewgong slammed down onto the frozen floating platform at an incredibly fast speed.

Boom!

After a loud crash, Dewgong didn't even have time to cry out before following in the footsteps of Goldeen and Krabby, also losing the ability to battle!

"We lost…"

Returning the unconscious Dewgong to its Poké Ball, the three sisters exchanged glances, then slowly walked toward Ethan. However, before Ethan could recall Ralts, it was suddenly enveloped in a light. A few seconds later, the original Ralts disappeared, replaced by a new form!

Kirlia!

Seeing this, Lily couldn't help but cover her mouth and exclaim in surprise, "Oh? It actually evolved!?"

Kirlia's appearance was like a white-clad dancer, wearing a ballet tutu. Its legs were very slender, and its hair didn't completely cover its eyes like Ralts's, but rather had shoulder-length bangs, revealing its red eyes. Even its two red horns had changed position, looking like hair clips.

How to describe it? It was like a young girl, growing up vigorously, transforming into a beautiful young woman. The Pokédex, which he hadn't yet put away, promptly gave a reaction: "Beep. Kirlia, the Emotion Pokémon. Psychic/Fairy type. The horns on its head create illusory images in the surrounding space when using amplified psychokinesis. It possesses the ability to sensitively perceive its Trainer's emotions. When happy, it begins to dance, and its Trainer's cheerful emotions are the source of its mental power."

Kirlia clearly wasn't quite used to its new appearance. After circling a few times, it returned to Ethan's side.

"Kirlia, your new look is beautiful."

Kirlia looked at Ethan, a little shy. Only when Ethan stroked its head did it affectionately rub its cheek against his hand.

Daisy then approached Ethan, holding a Cascade Badge. This blue Badge, shaped like a sky-blue teardrop, shimmered like a gem under the sunlight.

"Congratulations, Trainer. This is your reward for defeating us, and it is well-deserved."

Ethan exchanged a few polite words, took the Cascade Badge, and placed it in his Badge Case. Looking at the solitary blue Badge in the box, Lily pouted, lamenting, "What?! We're the first Gym Leaders to be defeated! It's truly disheartening!"

Ethan smiled, saying nothing. These three, compared to defending the Gym, had put more thought into water ballet and had neglected training their Pokémon. Among the many Gyms, their strength was pretty much the weakest. But everyone has their own aspirations. He still hoped that Misty would take over here soon.

"Well then, I'll be taking my leave."

Waving his hand, Ethan and his Pokémon departed. It wasn't until he left the Gym and disappeared from sight that a girl with orange hair tied in a side ponytail entered the battle arena.

"Sisters, I've been looking for you all over! So you were here? Huh? Why do you all look so downcast?"

Hearing the girl's words, Lily immediately exaggerated, "Misty, we've just been deeply hurt by a man!"

"Hurt!?" Misty was first stunned, and then after understanding the situation from Daisy's explanation, she huffed, "What do you mean 'hurt'? You just failed to defend the Gym! I thought you had been dumped!"

"Haha… It's pretty much the same!"

Even Daisy seriously considered it: "Now that you mention it, that man just now seemed very gentle and strong. Having him as a boyfriend might indeed be a good choice!"

"You guys are unbelievable," Misty pouted, nonchalantly. "If I had been here, how could I have let him take our Cascade Badge?! To be defeated cleanly 3-0, how embarrassing!"

Hearing this, Violet shook her finger, "Don't just stand there making snide remarks. That man with Kirlia was truly strong. Even with your strength, there's no way you could have beaten him."

"Don't underestimate me!" Misty bristled like a porcupine. "Hmph, I've decided! I'm going to set out on a journey the day after tomorrow. I won't come back until I become a great Trainer!"

Ethan has successfully obtained his first Gym Badge! And to top it off, his Ralts evolved into Kirlia during the battle. It seems his victory has also spurred Misty to begin her own journey as a Pokémon Trainer.

What do you think Ethan's next step will be with his newly evolved Kirlia and his first badge?
