Misty rolled her eyes at Ash and said, "Even though he won the battle, he traded his Butterfree for their Raticate."

"Traded?" Ethan paused, then remembering this plot point, he shook his head. "Isn't Butterfree your partner? Why would you trade it? And you're not aiming to complete the Pokédex, and Raticate isn't a rare Pokémon. There was no need to trade with them."

"But…" Ash looked conflicted, his voice filled with disappointment. "Brock agreed to the trade too."

"He saw the other person's female companion and couldn't take his eyes off her! How could he possibly have listened to you?" Misty was helpless against Brock's infatuation with beautiful women.

Given the situation, Ethan didn't advise Ash to immediately trade Butterfree back. After all, everyone grows at their own pace; this was a stage Ash had to experience. Moreover, he had agreed to the trade himself. The one who tied the knot must untie it; even if he regretted it, Ash had to realize it on his own.

"By the way," Misty took another bite of cake and asked Ethan, "Where did you go just now?"

"Just wandered around nearby," Ethan said, glancing at the pieces of cake in Misty's hand. "Although you're still growing, you shouldn't eat too many sweets. You'll get fat easily."

Hearing this, Misty looked at Ethan. She seemed to remember something. Though a bit disappointed, she slowly put down the cake in her hand.

The ship's horn sounded again. The S.S. Anne had been sailing for a long time now. Outside the windows, land and other ships were nowhere to be seen; only the vast blue sea stretched everywhere.

As Ethan sat down beside Misty and took a few bites of food, suddenly, with a bang, the doors to the hall slammed shut. A group of ill-intentioned individuals appeared from seemingly nowhere. These people wore black hats and eye masks, dressed in black uniforms emblazoned with the letter 'R'. They carried machines with several suction tubes and surrounded the passengers.

Just as everyone stood bewildered and at a loss, the hall lights suddenly dimmed. Two figures, a man and a woman in white uniforms, leaped onto a high platform made of stacked tables. Then, amidst maniacal laughter, a spotlight shone on the two of them.

"To protect the world from devastation!"

"To unite all peoples within our nation!"1

"To denounce the evils of truth and love!"2

"To extend our reach to the stars above!"3

"Jessie!"4

"And James!"5

"Team Rocket blasts off at the speed of light!"6

"Surrender now, or prepare to fight!"7

"Meowth, that's righ8t!" A standing Meowth then leaped between the two.

Team Rocket's trio, who permeated the entire Pokémon anime, had finally made their grand appearance!

Jessie, with her thick, long magenta hair, stood with her hands on her hips and loudly declared to the passengers, "Team Rocket will take all the Pokémon here today!"

"That's right!" James crossed his arms, also shouting loudly, "Anyone who dares to interfere, don't blame us for being impolite!"

Before the passengers could react, the black-clad Team Rocket Grunts activated their machines. Instantly, currents of air swirled. With powerful suction, more than half of the Poké Balls, whether in hand or on belts, belonging to those standing at the front, were sucked into the machines.

The crowd instantly erupted into chaos. Ethan, Ash, and the others, being farther away, had not yet been affected by the air currents.

Team Rocket, just as in the anime, are they moving against the passengers…

After a brief moment of panic, the passengers naturally didn't surrender. As Pokémon were released, one by one, under their owners' commands, they bravely fought back, clashing with Team Rocket's Pokémon. The Pokémon held by the Team Rocket Grunts were almost exclusively Poison-types, with Arbok, Koffing, and Zubat being the most common. The Pokémon held by the passengers, on the other hand, were more varied, but mostly unevolved Pokémon like Rattata, Pidgey, and Bellsprout.

Ash, Misty, and Brock also joined the battle at this point. Both sides engaged in a fierce battle within the hall. Explosions and flashes of light quickly left the place in ruins. However, all things considered, if Team Rocket had no other means, even without Ash and the others' intervention, their defeat would only be a matter of time.

Was their long-planned scheme really that simple?

Ethan calmly observed everything. Suddenly, he saw in the second-floor gallery that the man with the codename "Handsome" was battling a effeminate man with a purple Mohawk hairstyle, wearing a Team Rocket uniform, accompanied by two Pokémon.

His heart stirred. Without taking time to greet Misty and the others, Ethan rushed to the stairs, reaching the second-floor gallery of the hall. Handsome's two Pokémon were a standing frog with an obnoxious expression—Croagunk—and a Growlithe with tiger stripes and a lion-like mane. The effeminate man's Pokémon, on the other hand, were an eyeless Zubat with a gaping maw, and a Weezing constantly emitting poisonous gas.

The four Pokémon were locked in fierce combat. Seeing Ethan arrive, Handsome's face instantly lit up with surprise, while the effeminate man's expression grew even more unpleasant.

"Ethan!" Handsome called out, then pointed at the man and shouted, "This guy is Lambda, one of Team Rocket's four executives, and the on-site commander of this heist! If we catch him, we'll truly stop this riot!"

"Damn it, don't get in my way!" Lambda roared. "Whether you're International Police or just some other Trainer, dare to stop Team Rocket's plan, and you will pay the price!"

So he was the on-site commander. Now that he was tied up here, no wonder the Team Rocket Grunts downstairs were disorganized.

"Just give up," Ethan said. "Look below. Your plan is completely ruined, and your subordinates are scattering and fleeing. Failure is already inevitable! Kirlia, use Confusion!"

The next second, Lambda's Zubat was as if someone had grabbed its neck and slammed it hard onto the ground. With Ethan's addition, the previously evenly matched situation was instantly decided. Seeing this, no matter how unwilling, Lambda could only swallow the bitter pill of defeat.

"Don't celebrate too soon; we'll be back!" Lambda glared fiercely at Handsome and Ethan, then ordered, "Weezing, use Smokescreen!"

A large cloud of black smoke erupted from Weezing's body, engulfing Lambda.

"Crap!" Handsome exclaimed in alarm. When he covered his nose and rushed into the smokescreen, he found that Lambda and his Pokémon had already vanished without a trace.

Team Rocket has made their move on the S.S. Anne, using a large-scale Pokémon theft device! Ethan, Ash, Misty, and Brock are all involved in the chaotic battle. Ethan has also joined forces with International Police officer Handsome to confront Lambda, one of Team Rocket's executives. They managed to defeat Lambda, but he escaped.

The S.S. Anne situation is rapidly escalating! What do you think will happen next after Lambda's escape? Will the ship begin to sink as Ethan predicted, and how will everyone react?
