Chapter 12
Following the tax accountant’s instructions, I gathered the necessary documents and continued running around to get everything in order.
Finally, I successfully established my company.
Continuing my stock investments, I surpassed 5 billion yen in total assets within about a month.
“A hundredfold increase in my investment capital within a month… I just can’t wrap my head around it anymore.”
Staring at the figures, I gave up trying to understand.
At that point, the numbers no longer felt real—just a meaningless sequence of digits. So, I decided to cash out around 500 million yen and deposit it into my bank account, leaving the remaining 4.5 billion yen and some spare change for long-term stock investments.
A little over a month had passed since I met Nakamura, and one day, I found myself in Umeda.
Of course, I was there to buy a car.
“Now that my assets have surpassed 5 billion yen, it’s time to move and get a car.”
With that thought in mind, I had finally made my way to a car dealership on this late-May Sunday, fully prepared for my purchase.
For quite some time, cars had occupied my thoughts completely.
As a university student, I wanted a car that wouldn’t attract too much criticism yet still matched my personal taste. That narrowed down my choices considerably.
To simplify things, I first decided to focus on the brand.
That left me with four options: Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Audi, and Lexus.
Choosing just one among them was incredibly difficult, but I finally made my decision.
Seizing the moment, I headed straight to a dealership in Osaka’s Chuo Ward.
“I’ve finally arrived.”
The gleaming showroom stood before me, with the Lexus sign shining brilliantly in my eyes
.
Yes, I had chosen Lexus. Specifically, the flagship SUV— the LX 570.
The car itself traces its lineage back to Toyota’s exported Land Cruiser model. But I was drawn to its unnecessarily massive body and had made up my mind to buy it.
Before visiting the dealership today, I had made sure to call ahead and request a test drive for the LX model.
Upon arriving at the dealership, I immediately informed the staff, “Hello, I’m Kirishima. I called earlier.”
“Ah, y-yes, of course! Kirishima-sama, correct?”
The salesperson seemed slightly flustered, which made me feel a little guilty.
“Sorry for being a young punk waltzing into a Lexus dealership,” I thought to myself.
Though he was initially surprised, the Lexus salesperson quickly composed himself and provided me with a thorough and courteous explanation. I genuinely appreciated his professionalism.
Soon, my designated sales representative arrived and carefully walked me through the car’s features.
“And that concludes the explanation of the Lexus LX.”
Of course, I made sure to take it for a test drive.
I was surprised by how much easier it was to drive than I had expected.
“Alright, I’ll take it. I’ll be paying in full upfront, so make sure to throw in some extra perks for me.”
During the test drive, I had hit it off with the sales rep and was really warming up to the Lexus dealership.
While providing a somewhat adjusted version of my backstory, I explained to the salesperson how I ended up buying a Lexus at my age. He listened with admiration in his eyes.
“Understood, Kirishima-sama. We’ll proceed with the paperwork immediately.”
At the time, I didn’t realize that buying a car required a parking space certificate.
It made sense—you need to prove where you’ll be keeping and using the car.
Since I had no idea about this, I registered my parents’ home address for everything.
So, for now, the car would be kept at my family’s home. Once I secured a new parking space here, I planned to update the registration to my actual residence.
Although the delivery date was still a ways off, I had officially acquired my new ride.
From there, I headed straight to a real estate showroom to buy a condo in Osaka.
For those who may not know, the Lexus LX is a massive vehicle.
Possibly one of the largest domestic cars available.
Parking it in a regular multi-story parking structure is out of the question.
With that in mind, I headed to the showroom of the most luxurious condominium in Osaka.
I wanted a place where I could park my car properly, have easy access to Shin-Osaka, and enjoy comfortable living amenities.
Since I had made an appointment for a viewing, the process went smoothly.
The model unit was designed to match the actual floor plan, and as I half-listened to the salesperson’s pitch, I reassessed the location, price, and space—everything was just as I had hoped.
“Just a month ago, I never imagined my life would turn out like this.”
The thought crossed my mind as I took it all in.
“I apologize if this sounds presumptuous, but how spacious is the parking area?”
“Not at all, Kirishima-sama. Our building features an extensive underground self-parking garage. It can accommodate Lamborghinis, Ferraris, Rolls-Royces—practically any car.”
“(I apologize for acting like my Lexus LX was some kind of big deal.) Alright, I’ll take it.”
“Understood, Kirishima-sama. I’ll prepare the paperwork right away. The condo is scheduled for completion next March, so we will follow up with the move-in date.”
And just like that, I had officially purchased a home in Osaka.
Naturally, I paid in full under my company’s name as both an office and residence, so there was no need for any loan approvals.
The man who pays in cold, hard cash.
“I heard that due to its current popularity, the Lexus will take at least a few weeks to be delivered. Guess I’ll just have to wait.”
Looking forward to the excitement ahead, I felt my anticipation grow.
Since I was already in the Namba area, I decided to do a little shopping before heading home, just for nostalgia’s sake.
But as it turned out, I didn’t actually have anything I particularly wanted to buy, so in the end, I left empty-handed. Not that I realized it at the time.
Since I had purchased a new home, I thought I’d browse for furniture and tableware, visiting several stores. But then it hit me—since I wouldn’t be moving in until next year, buying anything now was pointless.
So instead, I spent my time hopping between cafés and select shops, leisurely killing time.
At a bookstore along the way, I picked up a car magazine and started imagining how I would personalize my Lexus to turn it into my ideal space.
Grinning to myself as I let my imagination run wild, I must have looked downright creepy to those around me.
But no one was there to call me out on it.
Before I knew it, evening had arrived. After grabbing dinner in Namba, I made my way home.
