CHAPTER 276
CHAPTER 276 The Unleashing of the Beast
Zero’s words left the Mother Tree silent.
After a long pause, the Mother Tree shook its head and decisively changed the topic. “We’re here.”
Zero followed the Mother Tree’s indication and looked into the distance. In the dim underground space, a fungal blanket undulated, enveloping a massive creature. Due to the blanket, he could not see the true appearance of what lay within. He could only judge from the size of the spherical shape that the entity was about a hundred meters in diameter.
A substantial, almost endless amount of energy was being gathered by the Mother Tree and infused into the entity’s body.
“He’s getting stronger every moment,” the Mother Tree said. “He’s like a black hole, devouring all the energy he can! The energy I’ve poured into him could already produce over a hundred Ancient Realm experts, but even now, this thing is still not satisfied! I have the feeling that what I’m giving him is less than a thousandth of what he needs!”
As the Mother Tree spoke, Zero walked closer to the spherical entity. His gaze was so intense it seemed to penetrate the outer membrane of the cocoon, revealing its contents.
Inside, a grotesque giant creature lay half upright and half prostrate, silent and motionless like a massive, exquisite sculpture. It had black fur, sharp bone spurs, knife-like nails, and powerful limbs. On its forehead was a blood-red pattern, resembling an eye, faintly visible.
The moment Zero saw this pattern, he heaved a sigh of relief.
Zero turned to look at the Mother Tree and said gently, “You’re on the right path. The Beast King’s clone has already given birth to the Eye of Flesh and Blood. Now, what you need to do is continue to nurture it to produce more of the primordial pattern.”
“And when the number of the Eye of Flesh and Blood reaches the standard of the Beast King’s lifetime, it will awaken and provide you with great surprise and assistance!”
Zero’s tone was quick, betraying his barely contained excitement. The Mother Tree, however, looked confused.
“The Eye of Flesh and Blood? What’s that?” it asked.
Zero smiled and replied, “Mystical patterns. The highest and rarest of mystical patterns.”
“Rare, indeed, not as rare as you, but certainly much rarer than those high-level gold and silver patterns. The most crucial aspect is its rule over the physical body— the Eye of Flesh and Blood is exceptional, unconstrained, harmless, and entirely one's own—a power that transcends the ordinary to reach the extraordinary.”
The Mother Tree grew more perplexed as it listened until Zero gently patted its shoulder.
“If you don’t understand, don’t worry about it. For now, let’s discuss how to conceal your laboratory.”
The Mother Tree pondered for a long moment before responding, “Your call.”
There was a glint in its eyes. The Mother Tree felt that Zero was being unusually kind, but it sensed some ulterior motive. Despite this, it could not pinpoint what exactly Zero's intentions were. The Mother Tree found the Corpse God’s behavior increasingly strange.
His [Body Self-Limitation] brought five distinct forms to Lu Ming. In his usual [Self-Limitation state], Lu Ming maintained a body size that aligned more with typical human aesthetics. This state also helped him in farming his attributes. However, when it came to combat, he switched to his other forms.
“With my [Self-Limitation state], I can’t handle my opponents effectively,” Lu Ming thought. “And the golden pattern is even more challenging.”
Even with the Force system, which allowed him to counteract the differences caused by Silver patterns, Lu Ming still needed to rely on his Origin Power Skill and physical strength in a fight. Though not weak in these aspects, he was not particularly strong among Ancient Realm experts. Tang Chongye, with his Golden patterns, would be a more formidable opponent, and the effect of a simplified version of the Eye of Flesh and Blood on the golden patterns was still uncertain.
“Time to begin,” Lu Ming resolved.
As everyone watched, Lu Ming’s physique began to grow explosively. His height, normally less than two meters in the [Self-Limitation state], quickly expanded to a towering 20 meters. His proportions remained relatively consistent with his [Self-Limitation state].
This was the Normal state!
From there, Lu Ming’s body continued to grow, reaching an imposing height of nearly 50 meters.
As Lu Ming's transformation continued, his body underwent a dramatic change. His muscles grew rapidly, forming sarcomas of various sizes—this was the external manifestation of extreme muscle enhancement. Concurrently, the strength of his bones increased exponentially, adapting to the growing muscle power. Bone spurs began to protrude, quickly forming a jagged bone armor that covered his body.
This bone armor enveloped his face like a ghostly mask, rendering Lu Ming's appearance grotesque and terrifying. This was the [Explosive State].
A ferocious aura emanated from Lu Ming, causing Zhanglang Gu and Zhanglang Ge to step back instinctively. Before they could react further, Lu Ming’s body underwent yet another transformation.
This time, it was a transformation of compression. Muscles and bones were compressed to maximize strength. In a short span, Lu Ming’s height decreased to five meters. However, his form no longer resembled that of a typical human.
His face had become diamond-shaped, with two gray horn-like protrusions growing from his chin and three horns on top of his head. His limbs remained intact but were now covered in an additional layer of black scales. His spine curved, creating a form that blended human and wild beast characteristics, allowing him to walk upright or crawl on all fours.
In this new, fearsome form, Lu Ming stood ready for battle, radiating an aura of raw power and primal energy.
Numerous pale bone spurs erupted from Lu Ming's spine, rising and falling with each breath, while a spiked tail grew from his vertebrae.
Zhanglang Gu stared in awe. “Is this still a human? Is it some kind of exotic creature!?”
Esek and Tang Chongye ceased their combat, drawn by the transformation.
Lu Ming grinned wickedly, revealing a mouth full of dagger-like fangs arranged in three tiers. His gaping maw resembled a meat grinder.
“Human? How am I not human? Open your bug eyes and take a good look!”
His roar was thunderous, and the sheer force of his breath seemed to stir a storm.
He looked skyward, bellowing, “You stinky bug, how dare you question my humanity!”
“I’m a genuine human!”
Lu Ming then glared at Zhanglang Gu, his voice laced with fury. “I detest creatures like you who judge others by appearance!”
With a powerful swing, his spiked tail struck the ground repeatedly, causing tremors that made Zhanglang Gu and Zhanglang Ge frown.
Zhanglang Ge muttered, “This guy is a bit troublesome,” while Zhanglang Gu dismissed the concern with a snort. “It’s only a bit troublesome.”
Turning to Tang Chongye, who was re-engaged with Esek, Zhanglang Gu commanded, “Don’t let Brother Tang look down on us! We must resolve this quickly.”
Zhanglang Ge grinned malevolently, revealing its rotten insect teeth. “I was thinking the same thing.”
