I, reincarnate as the leader of the villainous knight order

Chapter 112 - Chapter 112: A-Rank Adventurer Alan

Chapter 112: A-Rank Adventurer Alan

“Is there something you need from the Knight Commander?”

“I’m Alan, an A-rank adventurer and the leader of the adventurers in this town. There’s something I need to tell you…”

For a moment, Alan’s gaze shifted away from me. And then he froze, looking as if he had seen something unbelievable.

“Justin, what’s wrong? Who is that person?”

The person who appeared was Jest, who had gone to tie up Eleanor. Could it be that this man… is looking at Jest…?

Just as I was about to return my gaze to Alan, he dashed past me at an incredible speed.

“Waaaah! Hinata-niichan! I’m sorry! Because of me, you…”

Alan clung to Jest and began to cry uncontrollably. This bearded adventurer, much larger than me, was crying while holding a child. He left my subordinates standing there in stunned silence. But for me, the situation was different. My heart was racing. It couldn’t be, but I couldn’t think of any other explanation.

Jest looked exactly like my fifth younger brother, Hinata. The youngest twins used to mimic me and call everyone by name except me. So, the only brother who says “Hinata-niichan” when calling Hinata was my sixth younger brother, Yamato. He got hit by the car with me when I protected him.

“Ya… Yamato? Is that you, Yamato?”

When I called out, Alan’s shoulders twitched. He stopped crying and lifted his tear-and-snot-covered face, his eyes filled with shock and confusion.

“No way… O… Onii-chan…?”

“Yeah, it’s Naoki.”

“O-onii-chan!! I’m sorry!!”

I could barely understand what he was saying. For a moment, I wanted to step back from this unfamiliar, bearded man with a tear-streaked face trying to hug me. But I held my ground. If this really was Yamato, avoiding him now would scar him for life.

The impact was quite strong from his large body running at me, but I managed to catch him. My previous life’s name doesn’t exist in this country, so it’s unlikely anyone noticed. Though, my subordinates’ stares are piercing right now.

“Yamato, we need to talk, so stop crying. I’m a bit confused too. Alan, can you tell me when you started remembering things as Yamato?”

Speaking quietly so the others couldn’t hear, I patted his head like I used to in my previous life to calm him down.

“This way of patting… It really is you, Onii-chan…!”

“Wait, stop! Don’t give me a full-power hug with your current strength!”

The full-power hugs Yamato used to give to show his love in the previous life were nothing short of violence when done with Alan’s build. With no one to guard and having traveled through monster-free roads, I wasn’t wearing armor, making it even worse.

“Justin, who is this person?”

Jest looked at Alan, who was clinging to me, with eyes filled with suspicion.

“Ah… well, it’s a bit complicated. Jest, can you help everyone set up camp while I calm him down?”

“Got it. Come back soon.”

“I will. Yamato, come with me.”

I led the bearded man, still sniffling, away from the plaza and into a deserted alley. Then, I took out a handkerchief and wiped Alan’s tears and snot.

“Here, blow your nose.”

“Fuuu!”

Following my instructions, Alan blew his nose into the handkerchief I held. Back then, Yamato was seven years old. After the twins were born, he had to hold back a lot, but he was still very much a child. After blowing his nose, Alan seemed to snap back to reality.

“Ugh… I… I’m sorry. When I saw that child… Hinata-niichan’s figure… all these confusing memories just burst out… It feels like I was dragged back to that age by those memories…”

It seems his memories returned the moment he saw Jest, and he still seems confused.

“Don’t worry, I was confused too when I regained my past life’s memories. However… I realize now that I couldn’t save you back then, Yamato… I’m sorry.”

“No, it’s not your fault! If my past self hadn’t jumped out, you wouldn’t have died… Hic.”

It seems his mind is still influenced by his memories, as tears began to flow again from his amber eyes.

“Alright, it’s in the past now. You didn’t do it on purpose, so stop crying. ‘Cleanse'”

I used a cleansing spell to clean the soaked handkerchief and wiped his face again.

“Magic… Onii-chan, are you a noble!? Oh yeah, the guild master said the Knight Commander is a noble…”

“Yes, I was the third son of a marquis, but now I’ve become a count by my own efforts. My subordinates are rough commoners who usually specialize in monster subjugation, so don’t pick fights with them. You came here to assert dominance, didn’t you?”

“Ugh… I’m sorry… But now, you’re the younger brother, right? Hehe.”

This is Yamato, this is Yamato, this is Yamato. I struggled to keep myself from reacting negatively to the childish mannerisms of this bearded man.

“From now on, I’ll call you Alan. You can call me Onii-chan… well, given how you look now, that’s a bit much, so call me Aniki or Commander Justin. My current name is Justin de Vandière.”

“Okay, I’ll call you Aniki from now on! Ah, damn it! My speech keeps reverting to my past self’s way of talking.”

“Ha ha, after a night’s sleep, your memories should settle down. Go home and rest today. Tomorrow, we plan to discuss strategies with the guild master included, right? If coordination is difficult, we can at least avoid interfering with each other. There’s no time for disputes when it comes to protecting the town.”

“Got it. See you tomorrow at the adventurer’s guild, Aniki.”

“Yeah.”

He’ll probably ask about Jest again once he’s calmed down tomorrow. I watched Alan, with his red and swollen eyes, walk away before returning to the plaza where Jest and my subordinates were waiting.
