I Received System to Become Dragonborn

Chapter 735: Emerging

Erend and Eccar didn't hesitate. They rushed inside without a second thought.

Erend immediately placed his hands on Aurdis's shoulders, concern etched across his face as he saw someone he loved struggling like this.

Blood trickled from Aurdis's lips and nose, and her eyes were bloodshot. Her face had grown even paler, cold sweat covering her skin. All the signs pointed to one thing—she was running out of magic energy.

Gritting his teeth, Erend made his decision. He couldn't just stand by and do nothing. Even if the king had forbidden him from acting, he would help from now on.

He turned to Eccar, and their eyes met. In that brief exchange, they both understood what had to be done.

Eccar gave a firm nod. Without wasting another second, he channeled his magic energy into the orb. Even though he had no idea how the orb worked, he could tell that what it needed most was a stronger supply of magic to keep it from collapsing. The rest would be handled by the only Mage still standing.

"Hey, help me. I'll pour my magic into the orb—you direct it to reinforce the barrier," Eccar said.

The Mage nodded, his face strained. Despite his exhaustion and struggle, he was still capable of handling the task.

Eccar took a deep breath, stretched out his hands toward the orb, and unleashed a surge of Magic energy into it.

Eccar continued pouring his Magic energy into the orb, his expression tense but still calm.

The lone Mage beside him focused on channeling that energy, guiding it through the intricate pathways of the orb's design to ensure it flowed directly into the barrier outside.

Outside, the battlefield raged on. The Magic barrier that once riddled with cracks and on the verge of collapse, suddenly shimmered. The fractures that had spread across its surface began to mend at an unnatural speed. Within seconds th weakened shield became whole again, its radiant glow returning with renewed strength.

The Elven warriors fighting beneath it noticed the change immediately. Where before they had been on the brink of despair, now hope flickered in their eyes.

The barrier that had been steadily breaking apart was now holding firm once more, shielding them from the relentless assault of Laston's Hexa Cannoneers.

Even Laston, Dredge, and Veyna in the sky hesitated for a brief moment, their strategy disrupted by the sudden resurgence of the Elves' defenses.

Inside the orb chamber, sweat dripped down Eccar's forehead, but he didn't stop. The barrier had recovered but the battle was far from over. He had to keep going for some time still.

Eccar immediately poured a large amount of magic energy into the orb. Sweat began to form on his forehead, but in truth, his Dragonborn magic reserves were still abundant. He wasn't worried.

"It's alright now. The barrier will be able to hold for a long time, even if those strange metal beasts fire their energy that unravels magic again. I'll keep reinforcing it," Eccar said with confidence.

Everyone in the room heard him, and a wave of relief washed over them. They knew that Eccar and Erend were more than capable of handling this situation—or, in reality, any situation.

But they also understood their king's wishes. He didn't want to rely on them too much. If they continued to depend on Erend and Eccar, they would owe them a debt too great to ever repay.

However, most of the people in the palace felt that, at this point, they truly needed their help.

"It's alright now, Aurdis," Erend said.

Aurdis nodded, but she couldn't bring herself to feel as reassured as Erend made it sound.

"I don't know what else to do. Laston keeps bringing out things we never expected," Aurdis said.

Everyone in the room knew what she meant. Laston had just deployed constructs that could destroy their magic—something they had never faced before. Fear gripped them all.

Erend couldn't offer her comforting words or anything to ease her worry. Because, at this point, Laston was continuously bringing forth terrifying new threats.

If it were up to him, he would track down Laston right now and kill him. The enemy was probably close to the palace, watching all of this unfold with his own eyes.

But the king's permission… he still hadn't received it.

Erend clenched his teeth in frustration.

Laston floated in the sky with his arms crossed. His eye glowing faintly as he observed the battlefield below. Beside him, Dredge hovered close. Veyna smirked as she watched the Elven palace's Magic barrier cracking apart, piece by piece.

For a moment, amusement flickered across their faces.

"The barrier won't last much longer, my lord," Veyna mused, resting her chin on her hand. "The moment it shatters, those Elves are done."

"Hmph." Dredge let out a low, distorted chuckle. "Didn't take much, either. The Neo Hexa Cannoneers are efficient."

But just as they were relishing the scene, something unexpected happened.

The cracks in the barrier suddenly stopped spreading. Instead, they began to mend. In mere seconds the once-weakening dome of Magic solidified again, becoming stronger than before.

A shimmering energy coursed through it, reinforcing its structure.

Veyna's smirk faded. "What?"

Dredge narrowed his eyes. "Tch. They're reinforcing it?"

Laston's gaze darkened as he concentrated, his heightened Magical senses scanning the flow of energy. A faint tremor ran through his expression as he detected something he hadn't expected. It was a familiar force that surging within the barrier.

It wasn't just Elven Magic anymore. It was something more powerful.

His eyes narrowed.

"It was Dragonborn Magic," he muttered.

Dredge turned his head toward him. "What?"

"I can feel it. A Dragonborn's Magic is flowing through the barrier." Laston's voice was steady, but irritation seeped into his tone. "That means Erend have finally decided to act."

Veyna sighed, stretching her arms lazily. "So, the beast finally decided to act?"

Dredge let out a low growl. "That's a problem."

Laston didn't reply. Hismind raced as he considered their next move. The Neo Hexa Cannoneers had been designed to unravel Elven Magic, not the power of a Dragonborn. And if those two kept reinforcing the barrier, it would take far more effort to break it down again.

"Shall we adjust our approach?" Veyna asked, tilting her head.

Laston remained silent for a few moments before finally speaking. "We wait for now. We still have plenty of surprises for them, don't we?"

"Of course, my lord. Do you want me to deploy the others now?" Dredge asked.

Laston simply nodded. "Give the order. Let the Ogres and Daemons move in. They can have their fun now."

Without hesitation, Dredge tapped the screen on his wrist, issuing the command to the next wave of forces.

This time, however, the troops did not emerge from portals. Instead, they began advancing from the dense forests surrounding the palace.

A loud rumbling echoed through the darkened forest as the earth trembled beneath the weight of monstrous figures emerging from the shadows.

The twisted trees groaned under the force of their movements, their branches snapping like brittle bones. Then, from the depths of the wilderness, they came.

Hulking, green-skinned Ogres, their thick muscles pulsing power, they still carrying their jagged weapons. The big exo suits theey wore gleaming under the glow of the Magic barrier.

Their tusked faces twisted into savage grins, their eyes burning with the ancient hatred they held for the Elves.

Beside the Ogres were the Daemons who emerged, their crimson skin a stark contrast to the metallic sheen of the towering exo-suits that also encasing their monstrous forms.

Magic energy pulsed through the machinery, augmenting their strength. The hiss of steam and the hum of dark technology filled the air as they moved with a terrifying precision, their clawed hands flexing in anticipation of the bloodshed to come.

At the head of the horde, the leaders of both factions who were tasked on leading this wave stepped forward.

The Ogre Warchief, a towering brute clad in black exo suit armor, raised his war axe high and roared, his voice shaking the very ground beneath him.

"For centuries those arrogant Elves have looked down upon us! They think their Magic makes them superior! They think their golden walls will protect them forever!" His voice grew more frenzied, spittle flying from his fanged mouth. "But tonight! We remind them of their place! We break their walls, tear their flesh! We feast upon their bones!"

A chorus of enraged howls and roars erupted from the Ogre ranks, their bloodlust ignited.

The Daemon commander stepped forward next, his exo-suit hissing as it adjusted to his movements. His glowing eyes burned with hatred, his voice like a blade cutting through the chaos.

"The Elves call us monsters, yet they are the ones who hoard power! They are the ones who think themselves untouchable, hiding behind their Magic like cowards!"

He pointed a clawed finger toward the palace, his lips curling into a cruel sneer. "No more! Tonight, we show them fear! We burn their sacred halls! We slaughter their warriors! And when their corpses litter the ground, the age of the Elves ends forever!"

The troops roared in unison, their bloodlust reaching a fever pitch. The Ogres and Daemons stomped their feet, shaking the ground. The glow of the energy in their exo suit illuminating the battlefield.

Then, with a single command, they charged toward the palace.
