Chapter 16
16. The King’s Mother (1)
[Episode 16] – The King’s Mother (1)
After being invited by the queen, the princess and I decided to walk slowly to the queen’s villa located not far from the lake. Although there was still time until the dinner party the queen consort invited.
The main purpose was to show the image of me attached to the princess to the queen’s maids and her maids. Supporting the princess’s buttocks and holding her up like this.
The princess sitting on her arm as a chair wiggled her hand holding the hem of her skirt as if she was ashamed to show it to others, but she still continued until she arrived at her villa where the Queen Mother lived. Had no intention of dropping it.
At least for now, I had to appeal to others that I was as close to the princess as possible. Only then will it flow to the ears of the queen. The story that the princess and I seem close.
“Uh, uh… Her Highness the Queen…”
“Huh?”
While walking while holding her princess eagerly, the princess who was wiggling the hem of her skirt hesitated and put her hands in my ear and whispered softly.
“Gu, I have a question…”
“Tell me.”
The sound of her lips moving in embarrassment echoed in my ears. The princess groaned and pondered for a moment, then she whispered in my ear in a very small voice, as if she mustered up her courage.
“Ainsel is… A ‘mirror fairy’ right..?”
“Isn’t it?”
“So, then…”
Gulp, I heard the sound of her saliva going down the princess’s throat.
“Is there… A cake fairy…?”
“Pooh-up.”
For a moment, I couldn’t give any answer to the princess’s curiosity because I was holding back my laughter. The princess in my arms seemed to like sweet food for her age.
Ainsel on the other side of the princess heard the sound and said, ‘Uh, what to do…? Seeing that there is no such fairy..?’, Unfortunately, it seems that there is no cake fairy.
I turned my head and looked into the princess’ eyes, full of anticipation. What the hell do you want to do when you meet the cake fairy? Curiosity never ceased.
“Fhehehe, well? I’ll have to ask you again later.”
“Really?”
“If not, ask yourself later. I’ll lend you the earrings later.”
Ainsel, who was next to me, was astonished in a small voice at the story of lending her earrings. She said that she had left the innocent princess with the cruel task of telling the truth.
…Was caught.
As Ainsel said, she didn’t have the confidence to lie to the expectant princess. The moment I say that there is no cake fairy, those bright eyes will lose their vitality and become shadowy.
As we walked and talked about various things with the princess, we were able to arrive at the villa where the queen mother lives. It was smaller than the main palace where the king and princess lived, but the beauty of the castle was no less than that of the main palace.
Unlike the large landscaping of the main palace, the garden of the detached palace was decorated with small and cute trees and flowers that were easy to grow and handle. The inside of the castle also looked different from the main palace.
The main palace was painted in gold to the extent that it was painted with money, but the detached palace seemed to be decorated with a small amount of gold and finished with white tiles on all sides. I couldn’t ignore the neat feeling of the combination of white and gold.
“Your Highness the Queen, Princess. First of all, I will help you redecorate.”
First of all, the lady-in-waiting told me and the princess that before meeting her queen, she had to redecorate herself, so she moved them to the dressing room. There were at most two maids in the main palace who dressed me up.
However, it was different here at the villa. While putting on makeup, six maids rush in and finish the job in an instant. It was to the point where I felt as if I had become a doll in a doll play.
After finishing the dressing so quickly, the princess and I were able to change into appropriate dresses. I wondered if I would finally be able to meet the Queen Mother with such an exhausted body, but…
“Since there is still time before dinner, how about taking a tour of the royal villa? Let me guide you.”
The queen mother-in-law came to visit and said that there was still time until the dinner, and she said that she would introduce the detached palace. The moment she rested her chin, wondering what to do, the princess sitting next to her caught her gaze.
The princess’s eyes twinkle at the word of the lady-in-waiting to introduce her villa. She seemed like she would fall asleep anyway, and since the princess was shining her eyes like that, it seemed like I was curious for some reason.
“Yes. I have nothing to do anyway…”
Rising from her chair, holding her princess by the hand, followed her maid. The princess walked her steps as if she knew the way here, leading me one step ahead of me.
“This is 150 years ago, the king at the time was for the rain-“
As I was walking while listening to a boring story like a museum guide’s explanation, the princess shook my hand and ran into a room.
The lady-in-waiting did not stop the sudden action of the princess, and as if she had expected that this would happen, she stopped her explanation and slowly followed the princess into the room.
I also naturally moved there.
Entering the room the princess entered,
I couldn’t say anything.
There was a framed picture that was too large to speak of, two stories high. I was surprised by the big picture, but what surprised me was the picture that filled this large room.
A picture of a beautiful woman with ebony-black hair and ruby-red eyes was spread out everywhere. There are dozens, no, hundreds of pictures that can be seen.
Only one woman was drawn in all of them.
Looks like a princess has grown up.
The princess approached the largest painting with her gallop, as if accustomed to it, and she looked up at it. Then, in a weeping voice, she called the name of the woman pictured in the frame.
“Oh my God…”
*
I felt like I was distracted by the portraits of ‘Aurora Snow White’ spread all over the place. Not all of the portraits had the same face, and if there was a smiling face, there was also an angry expression drawn on it.
It’s as if all of her time was cut and stuffed into a frame.
“What is this…what…?”
“…No wonder Her Highness the Queen is surprised. The fact that a place like this exists in the secondary palace as well as the main palace is a fact known only to the princess and us who serve Her Highness the Queen Mother.”
Is there a place like this in the main palace?
As soon as she heard that story, downy hair stood up all over her body and gave her goosebumps. Who the hell was thinking that drew so many pictures of the first queen?
I walked slowly and observed the numerous paintings hanging on the walls. The title and artist’s name were not written under all the paintings. Just a smiling face while taking a walk, a face chatting with the maid.
There were only pictures that seemed to have been cut out of her time like a photograph. After wandering around the room like that, before I knew it, I came to the large painting the princess was looking at.
Only under this picture was the title written.
Unsurprisingly, the title of the painting is simply “Aurora Snow White.” No content, no author’s name, nothing written on it. I wondered who the hell had done such a mad thing.
“I have nowhere else to put the paintings Your Majesty sent me… To be honest, there are too many of them, which is a headache. I wish you would stop sending me now, but…”
“Your Majesty?”
“..? Yes, Your Majesty ‘draws’ a picture every week and sends it to us. I heard that the Prime Minister sends ‘paints’ to His Majesty every day? Really, if the Prime Minister would stop now-“
By drawing?
So, did all these paintings be painted while the ‘King’ lived in seclusion?
…Is this what it feels like to be speechless? I wanted to say something to the lady-in-waiting, but her lips were pursed and no words came out of her mouth.
However, unlike those thoughts, the only emotion I felt while looking at the painting was that it was truly ‘beautiful’. Did the king even have a talent for drawing? Each picture framed was like art.
‘…If it weren’t for the king, he would have made a name for himself with his paintings?’
However, no matter how much the king is said to be a ‘pathetic wife’ who loves the first queen in the game, this seemed to have gone too far.
To live in isolation for two years and only paint the first queen all day long?
‘…Something is wrong.’
Even if it goes wrong, it goes wrong for a long time.
No matter how pathetic the king, who was a ‘player’ in the game, was not that crazy. He is a person who does not give up being a ‘father’ for her daughter even in the midst of the grief of losing the queen.
‘That’s a person I know called the King…’
As I was gazing blankly at the big picture with the princess, someone tapped me on the shoulder. The moment I turned my head to see if someone had knocked on me, I was so surprised that my heart sank.
“You must have flies in your mouth. Queen.”
From noble mtl dot com
“Wow, meet Her Highness the Queen Mother…”
As soon as I looked at the old man standing next to me and smiling, I bowed my head and nodded. The old man raised his hand as if it was okay, but I couldn’t straighten my back.
Hair that has turned white because it has not been able to overcome the years, and sharp eyes and mouth. And eyes as deep blue as the sea looked directly at me.
The mother of His Majesty, and the queen of the late King.
The queen mother of this country was standing next to me before I knew it.
“…Yes, it’s been a while. Stop getting up.”
Only then did I straighten her back and look at the queen mother. I thought I’d only see them at dinner, but before I knew it, they brought a cane and stood next to me, enjoying the painting together.
“Thank you for accepting the sudden invitation. I thought that if it were you, you would make various excuses like last time and reject it, but I didn’t see you well.”
“Ha ha ha…”
If it was the original Vivian, would she just refuse the queen’s invitation?
You really just left…
I turn my head and look at the princess standing next to me, and the princess must have been nervous as well, standing there as tense as a stiff piece of wood.
Following my gaze, the queen also looked at the princess. As the eyes of the queen and I focused on each other, the princess seemed so nervous that she forgot to breathe, and her face grew red like a ripe apple.
The Queen Mother, who had been staring at her princess for a long time, knocked the staff she was holding on the ground once, and she turned her back and took the lead.
“Come along, dinner is ready.”
