Chapter 471: The Tenth Six Hundred Years
Midnight fluttered his eyes open and was immediately wrapped by a warm pair of hands. He watched Galaxia sobbed while hugging him. "What happened?"
"I thought I lost you forever," Galaxia whispered. Midnight smiled at him, gently caressing the sobbing man's hair.
"You're my best friend, why would I leave you alone?" Midnight smiled. "But I don't get why I still have my body. I sold it to–"
"Me?" A tall man with a slender frame walked towards him. "Midnight, I could not thank you enough for being my host for this past years. My gratitude belongs to you."
Leviathan's true form was a tall man with a slender figure. His hair was black as well as his eyes matched with his pale skin that was like porcelain. His hair was long and straight, reaching below his shoulders to which he tied with a special ribbon at the bottom.
He wore a black suit and tie that exposed his figure, as if he was wearing a corset by how hourglass-shaped his waist looked.
"What about our deal?" Midnight asked. "And what do I do from now on?"
"For the years that I resided in your body, your cells have mutated into adapting my powers," Leviathan said. "The only difference between before and now is my presence and your vulnerability to the full moon. Other than that, you're still as bad*ss as before."
"I don't have to fear the moon anymore?" Midnight asked with hopeful eyes to which Leviathan answered by offering his hand.
"Let's see."
The demon led Midnight out of the hut he rested and into the outside where the Adventurers gathered around the bonfire. It was nighttime and everyone was calmly planning their next step. They don't know where to go after their main enemies were eradicated.
Midnight raised his gaze and into the vast night skies where the moon glowed brightly in the middle of it all. He closed his eyes as he bathed in the gentle light of the moon. "This is nice."
He then felt another pair of hands wrap around him. "Don't do that again."
"Elliot?" Midnight chuckled and ruffled Elliot's hair. "Don't worry. I would never do that again. I'm not alone anymore."
"You were never alone," Frederick said. "Welcome back, Midnight."
–
Far from the bonfire where everyone gathered, another hut was built. This one had runes all over it, chains wrapped around it, and guards patrolling the vicinity. Licht was locked up inside.
"What do we do about him?" Zeus asked Irus, but the demon seemed to have less interest in the emperor. "
"I told you this over and over again," Irus massages his forehead. "He can't do anything anymore. He lost his partner and he lost himself. That man is a walking shell, void of any soul."
"But we cannot forget that he maltreated our people for years," a female voice spoke, making everyone turn to its direction. It was Junko, the Amethyst Maiden. "I collected all the history of their reign and he should be punished for what he has done."
Irus sighed and created his seat to where he plopped himself down and sighed. "He was under Malice's influence. The b*tch basically made him a human puppet."
"Influence is not control," Junko said. "You have no say in this because we're Terrans, and you're not–"
Irus stood and laughed. "This is why I hated humans for so long. If you actually read the history of what happened, why not read the ones that recently took place? Who was the one who fought against your oppressors? It was I, a non-Terran. And if that's how you want to do it…"
Irus leaped and landed on the hut where they kept Licht. "So be it. I have had enough of you anyway."
"Irus, what are you doing?!" Elliot gasped but he was too late. The demon destroyed the hut along with all the protection around it.
Everyone raised their guards as the smoke cleared from the explosion. A figure sat on the ground, wrapping his arms around his legs and rocking himself back and forth. "I'm so sorry, DuDu. I am so sorry. I'm so sorry DuDu. I am so sorry…"
Licht whispered to himself over and over again. Even when the hut was opened, he didn't change his movements. He kept doing that over and over again.
Irus stood beside Licht. "You can't do a lot with him. He lost his sense of self."
Zeus raised his sword and wrapped lightning around it. "Should we end him? We can end his suffering if we do."
"That's another problem," Irus sighed. He shifted his hand into a large blade and cut Licht in half. Everyone gasped at the sight, and gasped again after they saw Licht's blood collected its other half and reattach itself.
"What the hell…" Elliot whispered. "He's immortal?"
"He's semi-immortal. An immorality called Ultraregeneration," Irus replied. "He can't be killed, but he will die a natural death. He's generous enough to die, but he doesn't want to actual die so he. He can basically rebuild his cells faster than anyone could kill it."
"But…" Elliot paused. "He looks sad."
"The loss of DuDu affected him so much that he's nothing but this," Irus said. He then turned to Junko who was a shocked mess. "Now, I know everything here so I call the shots. You were never here in any of the major battles, so you can sit back and get yourself alive. The war is not over."
"What do you mean?" this time, it was Lance who asked. "Licht and Dudu are gone, and the continent should be safe, right?"
"No," Irus chuckled. "This is just one more chapter of this long war. Another dawn will break. And this time, more lives will be lost."
Elliot walked closer to the demon. "What do you mean?"
Irus raised both of his hands to the side and conjured a giant hourglass. The last grains of sand were about to fall, making everyone gulp in fear even when they do not know what it meant.
"The time for the tenth six hudred years is almost here," Irus said.. "Another Absolute will rise."
