Chapter 428: The Manual Doesn't Hurt Anyone
A mysterious artifact that showed itself in front of a man with desperate needs. An old tattered book that showed no signs of ownership, and barely had magical presence in it.
As Seungju accepted his fate, his body burst into a thousand colors, absorbing all the dead bodies. The thousand color-burst from Seungju slowly formed a vortex, spinning and spinning until it formed a giant orb.
The orb was light pink, the color of bubblegum. Its surface was smooth and it was the size of an entire castle.
Seungju awoke from his slumber and found himself in the new world he accidentally created. He looked around and saw that this place was the exact duplicate of his favorite place in his kingdom, the flower fields.
When he fluttered his eyes a couple of times, he saw a screen displayed in his vision. It was the same screen that showed his name, cultivation level, and his title.
Since cultivators doesn't use the system like the future people does, something like this was very new to him.
'You are now the Creator. The voice spoke in his head.'
'Finish quests and you shall gain even more stronger."
Elliot froze after hearing Kang Seungju's story. The man in front of him was a previous owner of the book. The same book that he was holding.
"Y-You mean…" Elliot trailed off and looked down. Everyone looked at him, but he could only shake his head. "Nevermind, I'm sorry. Please continue."
Seungju looked at him with a concerned look. He smiled flatly but nodded his head. "After I got a title and was also given special abilities that I cannot disclose with you. The last person I told died tragically."
"Died?" Lance asked. "How?"
"There's a curse imbedded on the book," Seungju said. "Other than its actual existence, I cannot say anything more. Or else, the curse will activate and it will kill."
"That's a rather dangerous curse," Ed scrunched his face. "I think it's safe if you keep that to yourself for now."
"And then what happened?" Lance asked, trying to steer them back into the topic.
"I cultivated more and more," Seungju said. "That was until I surpassed the highest cultivation level. From Emperor, I became a Grand Being. I created this world and harnessed the power of the Emerald Core which I still felt after all these years."
"The Crystal Cores," Guan Yin said. "Are they really that powerful?"
"More than you could ever think," Seungju said. "If there's one thing that's even more powerful than them, it could be the Almighty himself or the One Sun that created them."
"So," Emperor Kang placed his finger in his chin. "DuDu and Licht are after these cores. But they have the Crystal Maidens, why can't they get the core?"
"The cores are separate entities from the maidens," Seungju replied. "It would only make sense why they couldn't harness the power of the core, the maiden's influence are holding its powers back."
"Can you help us then?" Elliot asked. "You have extremely great prowess, can you help us defeat the tyrants that are ruling these lands?"
Seungju shooked his heas with a sad sigh escaping his lips, "I can't even let my thoughts outside of this realm. I don't think my powers would pass through here."
"That's…" Lance paused. "You have such great powers. I thought you could annihilate them in just a strike or something."
Seungju laughed at this, "I– Listen, children, I am not the Almighty or something. I am also nothing but a Cultivator who just happened to have an extra advantage because I surpassed the final Cultivation stage."
"And what advantage would that be?" Elliot asked. He was curious and he wasn't afraid of showing them. The Manual told him that he could grow and surpass everything, even the level cap of Adventurers. If he was going to achieve that soon, he might as well know what awaits him.
"Powers," Seungju said. "Extraordinary powers. Powers that only your mind could ever think of having."
"And those powers comes with a price, right?" Elliot asked. "Is the price for paying for those powers worth it?"
Seungju chuckled but slowly shook his head. "To be honest? I'd rather die than have this power. But the thought of my bride and he Emerald Core still out there somewhere made me wanted to stay. It's crazy."
"Love makes us do crazy things," Guan Yin said. "This sure is a testament to that statement."
"It is," Seungju chuckled. "I would do anything for Sana. I love her so much."
"Then," Elliot spoke. "Tell us what to do and we will do it. As long as everyone here gets what they want. Seungju gets his lover, and the East gets their freedom."
"But how?" Kaminari asked. "The ones that are at the power are strong, incredible strength that we could barely keep up with."
"Only if you let them overpower you," Seungju smiled. "Don't let them win, it's that easy. And I think you're ready for this battle."
"You think?" Elliot asked. "Because I think we're ways beneath Licht or even his subordinates."
"You're just heavily outnumbered," Seungju said. "What you have to do is target the source for the undead soldiers. I felt the strings of magic that connected those zombies to their caster, that wasn't Licht that I felt."
"What do you mean?" Elliot asked. "Do you think they're faking it?"
"Something like that," Seungju smirked. "Licht, even with his prowess, can never control such number of soldiers and in such a wide span. The distance from where he is and where we are now is impossible, even for Licht."
"That makes sense," Guan Yin said. "DuDu has the ability to materialize objects. He constantly uses the Jade Maiden for his own gain, building a new kingdom on top his own kingdom by using nothing but his powers."
"An entire kingdom?" everyone in the group gasped in chorus, earning the revelation with a collective sigh of shock.
"Yes," Guan Yin said. "He built his new kingdom on top of the old one, only sparing the lives he thought was worthy. The others were buried with the old kingdom, that includes his own family."
"That person really is a menace," Elliot said. "He could do such a cruel thing as that, and he's currently ruling so that's like he's saying he doesn't care about it."
"He's not just a madman," Guan Yin sighed. "He's actually a psychopath. He lures young girls into his chamber and let his pet demon wolves eat them. I saw it once myself and I never lost my composure like that before."
"We need to kill him," Elliot whispered. "That man is sickening, even more so than all the other people we encountered combined. He's not just someone we can forgive. We must kill him."
"And for that to happen, you need to be stronger," Seungju looked at Elliot and the latter snapped from his anger when he felt that Seungju was talking to him with his eyes.
He tried debunking what Seungju was saying. It didn't take long for the boy's eyes to widen and his head to nod in understanding.
Seungju knows that he has the Manual with him. Before Allen could react, there was a familiar male voice in his ear.
'The Manual only seeks what its owner's soul desires. The Manual couldn't do manifest anything physically. The Manual Doesn't Hurt anyone.'
