Chapter 16: Young Masters True Colour
"Your shoes are dirty?"
Jaxson paused for a moment after hearing Brentley's words, then quickly understood what Brentley meant. He strode over to Brentley's position.
Sitting nearby, Simeon squinted at Brentley, seemingly puzzled about the purpose of Brentley's return.
"Kid, did you just say your shoes are dirty?"
Jaxson's gaze was provocatively fixed on Brentley.
"That's right." Brentley nodded slightly.
"Brothers, this kid says his shoes are dirty. What should we do about it?" Jaxson suddenly shouted.
With a loud clatter, seven or eight lackeys in the room rushed towards Brentley. This time, Simeon didn't stop them. In an instant, they surrounded Brentley.
"Young Master Carter says his shoes are dirty. What do you all mean by surrounding him like this?"
At that moment, Logan stepped into the room.
Originally sitting on the couch playing on his phone, Simeon suddenly turned his head upon hearing Logan's voice. He stood there petrified, his face showing utter disbelief.
"What do you think you're doing?"
Jaxson, who didn't recognize Logan, took a step forward and shouted at him.
"Smack!"
Before Jaxson could finish his sentence, Simeon rushed over and delivered a fierce slap across Jaxson's face. With wide eyes, he yelled, "How dare you speak to Brother Logan like that? Apologize to Brother Logan right now!"
"Brother Logan...?"
Jaxson, stunned by the slap, looked up at Logan in confusion.
"Dude, why did you hit me? Who's Brother Logan?"
"Thud!"
Simeon lifted his leg and kicked Jaxson square in the face, his emotions running high.
"This is Logan Rodriguez, Brother Logan!"
"Logan Rodriguez...?"
Jaxson was completely dumbfounded upon hearing Simeon's words. And it wasn't just him; everyone in the room stood frozen, staring at Logan in disbelief.
Who could have imagined that Logan Rodriguez, the notorious figure who struck fear into countless hearts in Sunshire City, would appear in such a place?
"Brother Logan, I... I was wrong. I didn't know it was you. If I had known, I would never have spoken to you like that..."
Realizing his mistake, Jaxson immediately fell to his knees with a loud thud, his face filled with intense emotion as he pleaded with Logan Rodriguez.
"Brother Logan, what... what brings you here all of a sudden?"
Simeon swallowed hard, his voice trembling with excitement as he addressed Logan.
"I'm here with Young Master Carter. I heard someone here might have offended him," Logan replied calmly.
"Young Master Carter...?"
Jaxson, who was kneeling on the ground, froze upon hearing this. He then quickly looked up at Brentley, his face turning ashen.
Brentley walked over to Jaxson and said softly, "Earlier in this room, you seemed to enjoy humiliating me, didn't you?"
"Young Master Carter, I... I realize my mistake. I didn't recognize who you were. If I had known you were acquainted with Brother Logan, I would never have spoken to you that way!"
Jaxson couldn't believe that the boy he had dismissed as a mere scrap collector had suddenly transformed into someone Logan referred to as Young Master Carter.
But now, he had no time to ponder this. All he could do was bow his head repeatedly, begging Brentley for forgiveness.
"Did you hear what I said earlier?" Brentley asked Jaxson calmly.
"What you said?"
Jaxson looked up at Brentley, confused, and then suddenly remembered.
Brentley extended his right foot in front of Jaxson and said indifferently, "I mentioned that my shoes seemed a bit dirty..."
Jaxson swallowed hard again and turned his head to look at Simeon, desperately seeking his help.
However, Simeon knew very well who Logan Rodriguez was. If Logan showed such respect to Brentley, it meant that Brentley's background was undoubtedly terrifying.
"Did you not hear Young Master Carter say his shoes are dirty?" Logan shouted coldly.
"I... I heard..."
Jaxson trembled all over with fear and hurriedly crouched down, intending to lick Brentley's shoes.
But just as Jaxson Jordan's mouth was about to touch Brentley's shoes, Brentley suddenly moved his right foot away. A look of confusion flashed in Jaxson's eyes as he quickly moved his head closer.
But Brentley moved his shoe away again.
"Young Master Carter... what do you mean by this?" Jaxson looked up at Brentley, his expression puzzled.
"I think your mouth is dirty," Brentley replied calmly.
Jaxson froze upon hearing Brentley's words, his face turning extremely awkward.
"Yes, yes, Young Master Carter, my mouth is dirty and unworthy of your shoes..."
"You don't need to lick the shoes. Slap yourself twenty times," Brentley said softly to Jaxson Jordan.
"Alright, alright..."
By this point, Jaxson was so terrified of Logan that he didn't dare to defy Brentley's orders. He raised his hand and began slapping his own face, one slap after another, making everyone around wince.
After ten slaps, Brentley stood up and looked towards Logan.
"Let's go," he said softly.
Simeon broke into a cold sweat upon hearing Brentley's words.
Who would have thought that Brentley could summon Logan Rodriguez, the big shot who ruled Sunshire City?
This only made Simeon even more curious about Brentley's true identity.
"Yes, Young Master Carter!" Logan responded with utmost respect, then followed him as they headed out of the private room.
Simeon was momentarily stunned. He quickly grabbed the $4,000 from the table and hurried to Brentley's side, smiling apologetically.
"Young Master Carter, we're really sorry about today. We didn't mean to offend you. You've been very generous by not holding it against us. Please, take this money back."
"Keep the money. I don't need it," Brentley replied in a flat tone, not even glancing at the cash in Simeon's hand before turning to leave.
Simeon stood there awkwardly, holding the $4,000, unable to understand.
If Brentley was really just a poor kid living off scrap collection, as Jaxson had said, how could he possibly know someone like Logan Rodriguez?
And how could he be so indifferent to $4,000?
Meanwhile, Jaxson clutched his slapped face, looking exceptionally aggrieved.
