I have Nine Lives

Chapter 205: The mark of a god slayer

Felix was very annoyed as he looked at the trembling shaman. Even though he could endure the fiery flames that were licking his body, that didn't mean he enjoyed the sensation of being baked alive.

The fire lotus tattoo on his forehead was glowing with a strong fiery light the more he endured.

His forehead was scrunching up in pain as he glared at the shivering old man and shouted at him:

"Tell me what the hell is with this tattoo!"

The old man was scared of the tattoo. But he was more scared of the pressure that Felix was currently exuding on him, so he regained his wits and decided to explain to him as best as he could:

"The tattoo that you currently possess comes from the fact that you have slain a God. The other gods usually mark people like you so they would be able to team up on you and kill you when your soul leaves your body after you die."

"They have done this, so they wouldn't be overthrown when the souls of the stronger warriors on the main plane arrived in the divine realm."

Felix frowned as the fire continued to flicker on his body and he asked:

"Wait, wait... I haven't heard about this up till now, so when we die, we actually reach the realm of the gods?"

The shaman looked down at Felix, but he didn't comment on his lack of knowledge,

Felix frowned. Vangar's memories didn't contain anything about the realm of gods or anything like that. Also, the human federation seemed to be rather disconnected from the gods.

He wasn't sure why, but he didn't care much either. All he wanted to know was how to get rid of this tattoo. While he would be able to easily survive the pain and constant burning- he wouldn't be able to meet or touch anyone else.

Unless they were as strong as he was.

Felix didn't want that to happen. He still wanted to interact with people daily. He didn't want to end up alone.

The fear of social creatures was loneliness. And even though Felix's life form had evolved multiple times. At the base, he was still a cat. Which was a rather social creature that could get depressed if left alone for long periods of time.

He wanted to scratch away the tattoo on his forehead but all he did was practically scratch an itch.

Seeing his current situation made the old shaman from the raven tribe apprehensive of him. What if he went berserk and started destroying things?

He had explained to him whatever that needed to be explained so the old man gathered his courage and told him:

"I have said what needed to be said... you should leave right now, or you might burn our base to the ground and even injure our people.. Please!"

Felix looked at the old man's figure before shaking his head. He got what he needed from him, so there was no reason to continue staying here...

He wanted to return to the lion tribe, but he also didn't want to injure any of the people there, even the top brass of the tribe wouldn't be able to withstand the fierce flames that were surrounding him, let's not even talk about the weak civilians or public workers.

Felix disappeared from the old raven's eyes as he sighed while looking at the place where the cat previously stood.

There was a burnt area there that looked rather strange. But the shaman didn't want to investigate it. He would rather not have any interactions with Felix. Now that he had been marked as a god slayer.

Felix's silhouette appeared above the ocean as he dropped directly into it.

The ocean slowly started to sizzle and pop as steam raised from it, but the flames weren't so strong to the point that they would be able to dry an ocean. The further Felix went into the ocean, the more pressure appeared, and the colder the water got to the point that the fiery tattoo on his forehead started to slowly dim until it stopped glowing.

However, Felix knew that this was just a temporary thing. The moment he left the ocean, the tattoo would light up once again, and he would become a walking torch that wouldn't be able to interact with anyone.

Felix sighed as he looked around. The bottom of the ocean was rather populated by a high amount of unintelligent beings. They were rather massive, but they knew from the aura that Felix was exuding that he wasn't to be messed with, so he was left alone.

As he looked around. He remembered about the fish people and the person that he had teamed up with once during the intercontinental battle. What was his name again?

Altraeimo?

Yeah, if he remembered correctly, that was his name. Maybe he could help Felix with his problem.

Felix closed his eyes as he sensed the biggest cluster of life force that he could on the planet in his current environment. With his superior senses, it didn't take him more than a fraction of a second as he disappeared and appeared a little bit farther than where the life force was situated.

The city of the fishmen... the place where Altraeimo came from and hopefully. The place that Felix would get this lotus tattoo off his forehead.

He arrived at the entrance of the underwater city and Felix was certainly impressed by its size. Some lights were coming from the moss that surrounded the city, and there were also tall walls to prevent predators from approaching the place.

When Felix first appeared in the view of the guards, they couldn't believe their eyes. Felix's features were all coming from land walking folk, and up till now, since the fishmen had evolved, there had never been an instance where the land walking people had arrived at the bottom of the ocean to meet with the fishmen.

Felix's appearance triggered a commotion at the top of the walls as the captain of the guards appeared at the entrance of the city and questioned Felix:

"Who are you? What are you doing here?"

Of course, it wasn't in a language that Felix understood. After all, Felix's fishmen language knowledge was rather null and void.

The fishmen race was leading a rather hermit lifestyle, so even the humans didn't know much about them. And that was mostly because they didn't care about them.

When Felix looked at the guard captain with an expression that told the man that he didn't understand jack, the man then looked at his subordinates and asked:

"Who knows about the language of the land walkers?"

Most people remained as silent as a fish. How could they, fishmen, even try to learn the language of those outsiders that they would most likely never meet?

However, this became a problem right now. However, the problem didn't last long as Felix used his empathy technique to learn their language very quickly.

Then he said:

"I'm coming with a request for help, for his highness Altraeimo. Tell him that his old buddy Felix from the intercontinental battle has come for a talk."

The guard captain narrowed his eyes but didn't say anything else. He knew that whoever was able to withstand the water pressure and the lack of air without being a Fishman was someone that had reached the apex of strength. He could even sense Felix's strength, and he knew that it was unfathomable to his little self.

The man started to swim rapidly through the water arriving at an ancient yellow palace decorated with starfishes.

The guard at the entrance of the palace stopped him and asked:

"Why have you come to the palace, Minturn?"

Minturn started to explain what he saw at the entrance of the city, which made the palace guard widen his eyes as he let him enter and go directly to the room of the royal family.

Altraeimo was playing the flute for his father when the guards entered and explained what happened.

The crown prince still remembered Felix, and he felt rather puzzled about his request. What could they do to help him? The fishmen weren't a very strong race, even though they were rather spiritual.

But a guest from afar was someone that must be invited, so the prince decided to follow the guards out and welcome Felix into the city and the palace.

Felix waited for a little bit of time as he morphed back into his cat form before he saw Altraeimo approaching, along with the guard that previously asked him who he was.

Altraeimo recognized Felix at the first glance, and he was rather surprised that the guard was actually right, and not just imagining things due to boredom.

Altraeimo waved his hand, indicating to Felix that he could approach the walls. Only for his eyes to widen as he saw Felix appear in front of him without him being able to even understand what happened.

"He had certainly grown way stronger than before..."

Felix morphed into his human form, which surprised Altraeimo once again, but he didn't comment about it as he asked:

"What could I help you with, Felix?"

However, his eyes widened as he took a better glance at Felix's forehead and recognized the symbol there...

"You have become a god slayer?"

Altraeimo's question contained both doubtfulness and some eagerness hidden in it, which Felix detected.

Why was Altraeimo eager?
