Chapter 145: Momentary transformation
Felix felt very confused. Was this really his own body? He touched his chest a few times to feel the sensation of a different skin.
His new skin was soft and smooth to the touch, without any hair or fur.
The only hair he could feel was the one at the top of his head.
It was a strange experience to walk on two legs, and he almost wobbled and fell only after trying a few steps... he also realized that he was fully naked.
Vangar looked away as he materialized some clothes that he threw towards Felix.
It seemed he had anticipated something like this would happen.
However, before Felix could bend over and take the clothes, his body suddenly started to spasm as pain invaded his receptors violently.
His once tall body slowly started to shrink again, and his feline features were slowly recovering to their normal form, but his power wasn't regressing.
He felt as if 1000 needles were being inserted into his body at the same time.
His pain receptors were gradually being overclocked by the immense amount of pain overflowing through them.
Everything became hazy in his vision as he felt how he was getting increasingly shorter.
Vangar watched from the side as he muttered:
"It seems that giving him a human form is not possible... at least not permanently. Atleast not now."
Felix was still going through the painful ordeal of having his cells reconstructed- while Vangar was analyzing the situation with a critical eye.
Felix's transformation was very short-lived as he slowly and painfully returned to his cat form.
He could feel his insides screaming at him, both in pain and from the newfound strength of his aura evolving.
Felix's body stopped spasming as he got up from the ground and shook himself until his fur stood on end.
He looked as if he got electrocuted with his fur standing on end like that. Vangar was still muttering to himself as he didn't take Felix's actions into account while he thought.
"What the hell was that?"
Felix growled as he looked at Vangar.
The transformation between his humanoid form and his cat form. Was extremely painful and uncomfortable.
From what Felix saw, Vangar knew this would have happened beforehand.
Felix's growl attracted Vangar's attention as he stopped muttering and smiled at Felix:
"Well, I haven't told you about it beforehand because I didn't think it would work, and I was half-right."
"The transformation you went through was temporary and unstable, I'm sorry I didn't notify you first, and as compensation, I have something for you."
"Hmm?"
Felix could still feel the pain coursing through his veins, but if he was going to get something. That made him feel just a tiny bit better.
Atleast, he didn't suffer for nothing.
Vangar put his hands inside his armor as he took out a Rubix cube with no colors.
Felix didn't know what the cube was as he looked at it. While cocking his head to the side, wonderment was pretty much written over his face, along with the question: what the hell was that?
Vangar went directly to the explanation:
"This little device here is quite useful for you as it stores the energy in the surroundings and can be used for training your breathing techniques. It also somewhat purifies the energy it absorbs, making it of higher quality."
Felix understood everything easily as he took the Rubix cube from Vangar's hands and shook it a few times.
"It sounds empty."
"Uhm.. well, you just absorbed all of the energy in a radius of 20 kilometers, so there isn't any more energy in the whole station."
Felix looked around and saw the downed special bag. After he transformed into a human, the bag had fallen from his back.
He took it up with his paws and tied it to his back. Then he put the Rubix cube inside for safekeeping.
"Are we ok?"
Vangar asked with a sheepish expression on his face. He acted just like a dog that did something wrong, and now he wanted to be forgiven.
Normally Vangar wouldn't lower himself to be this friendly with anyone, but Felix's talent was so immense that Vangar wanted to befriend him and not offend him in any way to make him get a sense of belonging to the human tribe.
"Now that you have broken through to the green aura level, you are finally at the level of a basic trainee in the human army, but with your special constitution and abilities, you are a bit above that level."
"To give you more familiar terms, you should be around the high-captain level of your lion tribe, you are closing in to the vice-general level, and you shall break through to that level after you reach the 9th stage in each breathing technique at the green level."
"And now that you have reached this level, it's time for you to go through some real battles, not the ones you have been through up till now, different types of battles."
"Hmm? What's the difference between battles? I have gone through wars, normal battles, 1v1, 2v1 battles, arena battles due to Shima's courtesy."
"What other type of battles are there?"
Vangar laughed as he patted Felix's head and ruffled his fur that still stood on end:
"Well, I don't think you have ever experienced space battles and ship battles, have you?"
Space and ship battles? These were new terms to him.
"Well, just so you know, the battle to protect the planet will mostly consist of these 2 parts- If the invaders reach the planet, things will be getting too hairy to contemplate."
"So we will need to constrict them to these two types of battles."
"Since you have never fought them, I have an item prepared in one of the buildings that will help you to simulate these battles."
"Now follow me."
Vangar started to walk towards a certain building that was the tallest in Felix's vision.
Felix followed him to the building and entered it. The inside was no different from the usual human aesthetic, white tiles, white walls, and large rooms. Expanded by their spatial knowledge.
The rooms each had a piece of tall machinery. That consisted of a black leather chair that you could lean on it on your back. There was a helmet dropping down from the ceiling, which was connected to the chair by a black hose-like cable.
Vangar patted the chair and told Felix to jump on it.
Felix jumped on the chair. And felt that it was quite comfortable, nothing too rough on his fur.
Vangar put the helmet on Felix's head, which connected immediately to his brain, creating a simulation directly in his mental space.
Then his body went limp. His consciousness was directly transported to his mental space where everything wasn't as before.
Normally Felix would usually get a memory that he enjoys. And meditate inside it or just laze around, but now he found himself in a different place.
Felix looked down at his body, and he found out that he had human-issued armor. But he was still himself as he didn't morph into a humanoid form.
Things around him were calm at first. Until tens of thousands of human troops started to rush around him, his surroundings morphed into the dark universe as stars surrounded him, he floated in space without the help of anything as if it was his innate ability to fly.
It was an interesting experience as he always wanted to fly, but not in these circumstances.
He could sense killing intent surrounding him from everywhere as his 'comrades' fought tooth and nail to survive.
One of them even shouted at him:
"Daym, stop daydreaming! I know this is your first time. Fighting in a real battle, but you must concentrate!"
The moment the person finished his words. A thump was heard as his head was severed from his body, slowly floating in the dark space.
He tried to help Felix, and he died because of it. His death triggered a chain reaction as the place he protected was broken through by the people they were fighting. Their formation broke, and thus the enemies flooded them and the fight difficulty increased by a few times.
Felix could feel an attack coming from the front, but when he moved his head to dodge he realized that it was a feint and two more attacks hit him from the back as a burst of sick laughter was heard from behind.
The formation breaking let enough enemies near Felix's allies at such a close range that it was hard to discern between who was an ally and who was the enemy.
They were all clustered together in such away. That things became awkward for Felix, who never fought in such situations before.
He could feel his heart pumping quicker than usual as he found himself in a dangerous situation. He had grown quite lax in that one year of lazing around, occasionally training.
A blade's edge would dull and rust as it remains unused, and the same could be said about people.
But now that Felix was reigniting his fighting spirit, his eyes started to turn serious. It didn't matter that he had no experience in these types of fights. He just had to get some and then dominate the battle!
He was a person that went through a lot of battles, and he always adapted on the spot. And now it was time for him to do so here as well!
