I Have a Penglai Immortal Island

Chapter 048 – Isn’t This Transformation Exciting?

The next day, Zhao Zhao received the returning Yaoguang at the Chonghai dock.

Da Linzi came running down excitedly, "Zhao Zhao! Fishing without you is so difficult! Even the advanced boat didn't help!"

He didn't seem tired; he was quite lively. "Hmm, nothing is easy. As long as it makes money, it's fine."

Da Linzi said, "I think Uncle Haiming is amazing, but he's a bit stingy. There was hardly any food on the boat, just fish. I've lost weight."

Zhao Zhao looked him over. He hadn't lost any weight; how could he so quickly? "After we sell the catch, I'll take you out to eat at a place with no fish." Da Linzi happily went to help unload the fish.

There was a small incident while selling the fish at the dock. This time, the biggest catch was ribbonfish. They originally planned to sell it to Tongda Seafood at 15 yuan per jin, based on the offshore price. They were halfway through weighing when someone came and stopped them.

When the person in charge returned, he offered 10 yuan per jin. Xiong Haiming, of course, refused. He then went to ask another well-established buyer at the dock, Yao Fishery. Upon hearing it was from Jinshi Island, they offered 8 yuan.

Xiong Haiming was confused. He wasn't foolish and knew they had offended someone, but this was Yaoguang's first time docking at Chonghai. Who could they have offended so quickly?

Zhao Zhao had a guess and suggested selling the fish separately to smaller vendors. This time, the sale went smoothly.

Oh, it seems they only approached the big seafood merchants.

After selling the fish, Xiong Haiming was still scratching his head, unable to figure it out. "Do we have to sell in Shanghai in the future? That's too inconvenient. Who did we offend?"

Zhao Zhao reassured him, "I'll handle this. Let's eat first. We have a big job this afternoon. I bought some cattle and sheep delivered to Chonghai, and we need this boat to transport them back."

After keeping the small animals in Yaoguang's realm for a few days, she took out half of them and put them in the warehouse. They were all vigorous, and it took a lot of effort to load them onto Yaoguang.

When Da Linzi learned she wasn't leaving, he didn't want to go either. Finally, the promise of two small white horses persuaded him. Hearing one was for him and that it was expensive, he immediately decided to go back and take care of it personally. Free-range on the mountain wasn't reassuring.

After sending them off, Zhao Zhao started tracking Jiang Jianzhu’s whereabouts. The people she had offended were limited, and the local troublemakers at Changshan Fish Market probably didn't have the reach to influence Tongda and Yao Fishery. They were new to this industry and hadn’t had time to offend anyone. It could only be one of the three Chonghai locals she had conflicts with at sea, led by Jiang Jianzhu. Going directly to him was the best bet.

Thanks to Jiang Jianzhu’s successful business, he was well-known in Chonghai.

Zhao Zhao spent a day finding his regular residence in the Shanhe District. The next afternoon, she found a hotel that barely had a view of Jiang Jianzhu’s window and began her stakeout.

The area around the capitalist’s residence was so well-planned that, from this hotel, only she and Yaoguang could barely see the lights of Shanhe District.

"Why don't we just go to his company and appear in his office?" Yaoguang, who was keeping her company, didn’t understand.

"You know it's his company; it's full of his people. How can we intimidate him in broad daylight?"

Yaoguang said, "You know which floor he lives on. We could just wait for him inside his home."

Zhao Zhao replied, "That's the most expensive residential area in Chonghai. His elevator is exclusive, and the several doors probably require either iris or fingerprint scans. The only way to get in is through the windows, and if someone sees us, I don't want to end up on the news. We can only go at night."

Yaoguang said, "Then why not go at night? Why stay here watching his window?"

"Who knows where the wicked capitalist will stay tonight? What if we sneak past the surveillance and he doesn't come home?"

Yaoguang summarized disdainfully, "I still think your idea of scaring him by suddenly appearing in his home is terrible! It’s simpler to beat him up, less hassle!"

"You don't understand. This is absolutely the scariest. Humans are the best at imagining things, and this will have the most impact. Just wait and see." After some thought, Zhao Zhao believed her plan was perfect.

They waited until past 11 PM when the lights on the 22nd floor finally came on.

Zhao Zhao got up from the lounge chair by the window and stretched. Jiang Jianzhu's nightlife seemed quite lively. She hoped he was alone at home; it wouldn't be good to scare an innocent person.

"Not small enough, sparrow. Haven't you seen many on Jinshi Island?" To keep things low-key, she suggested Yaoguang transform into a common sparrow. However, the sparrow Yaoguang transformed into was over a foot long, resembling an eagle...

"It can't get any smaller!"

"You have such a strange obsession... Forget it, check the roof for surveillance cameras first." Zhao Zhao compromised, hoping to get things done quickly and go back to sleep.

A bird that looked like a mismatched creature grabbed the bracelet and disappeared, reappearing on the roof of Building No. 2 in Shanhe District.

After confirming there were no surveillance cameras on the roof, Zhao Zhao teleported over and picked up the bracelet to wear.

It was an uneventful Thursday. Jiang Jianzhu came home late, quickly showered, and lay down. Just as he was drifting off to sleep, he heard the TV.

He wondered when the soundproofing had become so bad. After a while, the sound grew clearer, and he even heard the channel change...

Something was wrong!

It sounded like it was coming from his living room!

He sat up immediately and listened. It did seem to be coming from his living room. He went to the adjacent dressing room and grabbed a baseball bat, holding it in front of him as he headed to the living room.

He considered many possibilities: a prank by friends? The housekeeper made a mistake with a scheduled program? A thief? No, the security here was too tight for a thief to get in. He relaxed a bit.

When he reached the living room, the scene he saw wasn't any of what he expected.

A woman in a green dress was sitting on his couch, illuminated by the flickering light of the TV, making the scene particularly eerie.

The baseball bat fell to the floor with a thud, and he sat down in shock.

Zhao Zhao was very pleased with the effect. The dress indeed added to the impact. She usually wore yellow and green or white and green combinations, but today she wore a full set of retro-style horse face skirt in a very light green, making the night scene even more eerie.

Seeing he was already terrified and on the ground, Zhao Zhao turned on the lights and smiled at him, "Long time no see, Mr. Jiang."

She acted like a guest, scolding the dog rolling an apple on the couch, "Don't waste food if you’re not going to eat it. Sit properly!"

Half scared to death, Jiang Jianzhu finally noticed his living room was quite lively. Besides the "ghost," there was also a large parrot and a dog.

She turned and greeted Jiang Jianzhu, "Mr. Jiang, come and sit down. I have something to discuss with you. Did I scare you? Sorry, I was busy at the dock all day and had no time."

Jiang Jianzhu's dazed mind finally clicked, and he remembered who she was—the girl riding the killer whale off Jinshi Island.

Yaoguang, having enjoyed the show, nodded approvingly, "Indeed, this is much more fun than beating him up." The effect of terror was far greater than a physical beating.

Jiang Jianzhu: ...

After a while, Jiang Jianzhu dragged his trembling legs to the sofa opposite Zhao Zhao.

He glanced at the entrance door, which showed no signs of forced entry.

"How did you get in?" He looked at the woman, the dog, and the bird opposite him, all of whom looked at him innocently.

"I figured this high-end neighborhood would have alarms for forced entry, and disturbing the neighbors in the middle of the night wouldn't be good. So, we had to climb in through the window," she said, spreading her hands innocently.

Jiang Jianzhu: ...

"It's late, let's get to the point! Mr. Jiang, why don't you keep your word? We agreed that what happens at sea stays at sea. After we squared off, you retaliated later. Isn't that petty?"

Jiang Jianzhu: "I don't know what you're talking about."

Zhao Zhao: "I'll give you one more chance. Was the trouble at Chonghai dock with Tongda and Yao Fishery your doing?"

Jiang Jianzhu: "No."

Zhao Zhao: "Then it must be the other two. Were you aware of it?"

Jiang Jianzhu: "Yes."

Zhao Zhao: "Oh, so you knew and didn't stop it. Mr. Jiang, I see you didn't understand what I told you last time at sea. I told you to think about why you are alive. You didn't figure it out. Among the three of you, you gave your name, so I'll only come to you if something goes wrong. Resolve the dock issue by tomorrow. Keep your friends in check. If this happens again, I might not be able to sit on the sofa and calmly talk things over."

Zhao Zhao kept smiling gently, "I prefer peace and dislike trouble. We're all adults; let's not engage in childish revenge. It's troublesome! I hope your friends will realize their mistakes so we can reconcile. Even if it's just for your peace of mind in the future. I'll leave you to think about it."

After saying her piece, she picked up the dog and walked towards the floor-to-ceiling window. Jiang Jianzhu instinctively stood up, but Zhao Zhao smiled back, "No need to see me out."

Jiang Jianzhu watched in disbelief as she opened the floor-to-ceiling window. With a parrot on her left shoulder and the dog in her right hand, she jumped out... from the 22nd floor!

He rushed to the window and looked down, but saw nothing.

Could he move faster than Yaoguang?

He looked up; the window was five or six meters from the roof, with no ropes or anything.

Plus, the roof had no elevator access and no place to land a helicopter since it was a garden...

Vanished instantly, with a dog...

Could there really be such extraordinary people? How skilled must they be?

He spent the rest of the night checking the security room's surveillance, but found nothing. Was she really telling the truth about climbing? It didn't make sense. How did she descend? Could she fly?

Regretting that he hadn’t installed surveillance cameras at home, he realized the futility of it all. There were cameras at the entrance and in the elevator, but who would have thought someone could enter the 22nd floor without using the door?

Returning home in a daze, he saw the apple on the sofa, full of dog bite marks. So, it wasn’t a dream.

Lost in thought, he absentmindedly called his father early in the morning, "Dad, do you know the highest level of martial arts expertise in our country?"

While Jiang Jianzhu, looking exhausted, arranged a meeting with his two friends, Zhao Zhao was still sleeping soundly in her hotel. The expensive hotel was worth it; the bed was indeed nice.
