Chapter 020 – Trawling for Fish
After spending the night training in the space, Da Linzi arrived at the door promptly the next morning.
“It’s a great day today. Let’s set off early!” He hadn’t slept much, thinking about the luxury trawler he would be driving tomorrow. He kept checking the time in the middle of the night.
Unable to tolerate his urging, Gun Gun’s breakfast was canceled. Zhao Zhao handed him a tomato, saying, “We’ll eat seafood on the sea later, so have this for now.”
They dragged the diving equipment and other necessary items to the seaside and also stocked up on fresh water and seasonings at the dock’s convenience store.
It wasn’t actually that early; the fishermen who got up early had already set off. The dock was nearly empty, with only the distant sounds of children playing.
Da Linzi, with a beaming smile, took the driver’s seat. “Zhao Zhao, you wouldn’t believe how envious my brother was this morning. His salary is only half of mine, hahaha! I’d be happy even if I didn’t get paid to drive this boat!”
Zhao Zhao, standing beside him, ignored his chatter and watched as he skillfully maneuvered the yacht out of the dock and into the open sea.
Once they left the coastline and gradually increased speed, 22 knots was enough to sail smoothly. The yacht was advanced enough to handle autopilot, making it easy to navigate. Da Linzi continued to sing loudly and enthusiastically while Zhao Zhao took Gun Gun back to the deck.
With the sun just risen and the temperature pleasant, lying on the deck and feeling the sea breeze was the essence of life.
Gun Gun sat beside her on a lounge chair, gazing at the horizon like a loyal little guardian.
The deeper they went into the ocean, the livelier the seabed became, but they didn’t encounter any schools of fish or have a chance to cast their nets. Zhao Zhao decided to take a nap, falling asleep to the morning sea breeze.
An hour further south, Da Linzi noticed on the fish finder that there was a school of fish and woke her up to ask if they should cast the net. Alright, time to get to work!
Zhao Zhao set up her phone holder on the deck and started a livestream, as the small team hadn’t streamed in over half a month.
Yaoguang, bored after watching the sea for two hours, came close to the screen when the livestream started, eagerly checking the comments.
【Did a parrot steal the phone?】
【Direct hit to Yaoguang’s big head】
【The heartless streamer is back at work; where’s my little Gun Gun?】
Zhao Zhao, wearing her self-made Illusionary Veil mask that covered most of her face except her eyes, began organizing the fishing nets. “Yaoguang, chat with the fans~”
“I have nothing to talk about with humans.” The parrot still maintained its proud persona.
“We’re a team, and you’re the host. We don’t keep useless birds in our team. If you won’t do it, I’ll let Gun Gun handle it.”
Fans saw Gun Gun squatting behind Yaoguang, staring at the camera as if queuing up.
【Laughing so hard, the competition is quite intense】
【It wouldn’t hurt to give Gun Gun a chance】
【Am I important as a viewer? Everyone’s scrambling to chat with me】
【Let Gun Gun do a cute act first】
“This is Lord Yaoguang’s livestream. Lazy streamer is fishing for shrimp trawl today. If you’re here for the dog, you can leave; it’s all about me.” The parrot had learned how to attract viewers by creating drama, a popular tactic.
As expected, the livestream room became lively, with bird fans and dog fans flooding the comments.
Yaoguang looked around and then flew to the stern, keeping a low profile.
They cast the fishing net, and Da Linzi followed the fish finder’s directions. Zhao Zhao looked at the seabed from above, and it was alright; they caught quite a few ribbonfish.
The first netting of the Sea God was a success.
When there were no more fish in the previous route, Zhao Zhao directed Da Linzi to stop the boat and retrieve the net. They pulled up mostly ribbonfish but also some sea bass. They were all lively as soon as they came out of the water, jumping on the deck. Gun Gun immediately jumped in to help, slapping each fish with a paw. Zhao Zhao couldn’t even call it; in the blink of an eye, Gun Gun was already covered in fish smell, and many fish were knocked out by the powerful dog.
Desperate to clean the dog, the owner considered tossing it overboard to rinse off…
Da Linzi began sorting and packing the fish.
“It’s my first time fishing this effortlessly. I’d be happy to fish every day!” Da Linzi chatted while sorting the fish, having successfully discovered the joy of high-tech fishing.
“Have you considered that this net’s catch won’t even cover the fuel cost?” Zhao Zhao brought him back to reality, as he was happily oblivious.
After Da Linzi cleaned the deck, Zhao Zhao went back to the cockpit to cast another net. This time, without the fish finder, she used her eyes as a cheat, tracking valuable catches. She spent an hour moving around the sea, determined not to lose money on this trip.
The dog and people swayed on the deck. Da Linzi seriously told Gun Gun, “My driving skills are better. If you were driving, a new person would have gotten seasick already.”
Gun Gun didn’t understand and went over to slap any moving fish, ensuring the fish stayed obedient.
Meanwhile, viewers began debating what kind of boat they were on, as the fixed angles of their view didn’t show the full picture.
【Looks like a small trawler】
【I see it as a cruise boat】
【Does fishing make that much money? Last time it was a skiff, now it’s a fishing yacht】
【Even though I only saw a little, it looks like a modified yacht】
【Stop arguing, it’s some kind of yacht, and it’s new】
【In summary, the streamer is a rich person】
【It might be rented…】
【Am I the only one getting nauseous from the screen?】
The livestream room was unmonitored, so no one responded to the viewers' comments.
When the second net was hauled up, fans stopped caring about the boat, and Da Linzi didn’t mind her positioning anymore.
【The streamer has recouped the cost with this net】
【If I’m not mistaken, it’s a sole fish and some sea eels】
【There are still two more grouper fish showing over there】
【Did this net get through connections with the Dragon King?】
【I really want to eat eel rice, it looks so fatty】
【Drooling here, wild flounder】
This haul brought up four groupers, a dozen sea eels, and the rest were mostly flounder. Wild flounder is quite valuable, with large ones fetching up to 800 here.
Zhao Zhao had just sat behind the camera and chatted with the fans when her phone rang—it was Mr. Zhao, who had bought their sea cucumber last time. Apparently, after watching their car wreck live stream, he started following their broadcasts. Today, he happened to catch the live stream and waited until the good stuff appeared on the deck.
Mr. Zhao had always thought these two young people were something special and pleasantly offered to buy these three types of fish at market price. They agreed to notify him when they returned, and ended the call.
The fans continued to express their desire to try the fish.
“Sorry, you won’t get a taste this time; someone has already ordered them. But you can visit Jinshi Island and enjoy fresh catches there. On our island, we sell fish to tourists at the landing price. You can find a local seafood restaurant, and for just ten yuan, you can have freshly caught seafood.”
【Indeed, fish prices double when resold by fish traders】
【I want to go this time, my cooking skills aren’t great, eel rice is pricey】
【Another day of the host promoting Jinshi Island】
【The dried scallops I bought last time were great, much fresher than what I used to get】
【Didn’t manage to get the last batch, let’s do it again, host】
【The video on the details page is hilarious, it’s clearly the islander’s own stock, sell it again, bought too little】
【Still craving eel rice】
“Dried scallops can be arranged. I’ll collect some for everyone next time. As for eel rice, come to the island to enjoy it. We’re very good at making seafood dishes!”
Earning a few pieces of silver isn’t that easy; it all depends on luck.
