Chapter 2: Chapter 2: The King's Summoning
The brilliant light of the magic circle slowly faded, revealing a grand and majestic throne room. Marble floors reflected the glow of floating chandeliers, and golden banners hung proudly from towering pillars.
At the far end of the room sat a stern-looking king dressed in regal robes, his crown glinting under the lights.
Renji Akatsuki blinked, stunned by the sudden change in scenery.
All around him, his classmates stood in stunned silence, still processing what had just happened.
"W-What is this place…?"
"Is this a dream?!"
"That's a freakin' castle…!"
The king rose from his throne, flanked by knights and robed mages.
"Brave heroes from another world,"
he spoke with authority.
"We have summoned you here to protect our kingdom from the rising threat of the Demon Lord. You are our last hope."
A collective gasp rippled through the students.
"Heroes…?"
"We're going to fight demons?!" "Wait, wait, I didn't sign up for this!"
Some panicked, others were thrilled by the idea of becoming fantasy warriors. Renji, however, remained quiet, his eyes calmly observing the king.
"So we really summoned to the another world.."
A bearded mage stepped forward, holding a glowing orb.
"We shall now measure your potential and assign you blessings from the Goddess,"
he announced.
One by one, the students placed their hands on the orb. Colorful lights flared each time.
"Incredible! This one has S-rank swordsmanship!"
"Ohh..So I'm gonna be a swordman?? Cool!!
the boy said.
"This girl has healing magic and wind affinity!"
"I have 2 magic skills?? That's impressive..!!
the girl said.
Cheers erupted. The royal court clapped. The king looked pleased and said-
"We're soo lucky this time..God must gives these kinds of heros to save our land.
Then came Renji's turn.
He silently stepped forward, placed his hand on the orb—and waited.
The orb pulsed a dull orange. The mage furrowed his brow.
Name: Renji Akatsuki
Race: Human
Level: 1
Rank: F Skills: [Fire Ball (Basic)]
Unique Skill: [Chanting Mastery]
Murmurs broke out.
"Only one basic skill?"
"His unique skill is... what? Chanting Mastery?" "Never heard of that."
The king leaned forward, unimpressed.
"That's it? Not even combat magic or support? Just a weak fireball?"
The mage sighed and shook his head.
"It seems this one has no talent. Chanting Mastery... the records mention it, but it's never been useful. He is an outlier."
Renji stared at the orb, his face blank.
"I see..."
He turned to walk back, ignoring the whispers.
"Looks like we summoned a dud." "He's just dead weight."
A few classmates looked away awkwardly, some already distancing themselves from him.
Renji said nothing. His hands clenched slightly as he walked back to his spot, but his expression remained composed.
"A single fireball and a useless-sounding unique skill..." "...Fine. I'll figure it out myself."
He looked up at the king one last time.
And in that moment, something flickered in his eyes—quiet defiance.
"Wait...something feel uncomfortable...
