Chapter 1091 - 1091 1092 Its Not Aimed at Anyone
Chapter 1091: Chapter 1092: It’s Not Aimed at Anyone Chapter 1091: Chapter 1092: It’s Not Aimed at Anyone Cultivators were abuzz with discussions, puzzled by the two women and four men seated at the front six chairs.
Being talented cultivators from various major sects, they frequently interacted and made acquaintances, although their status had not yet qualified them to associate with Super Sects. Nevertheless, they were no strangers to those rising stars currently enjoying the limelight.
Logically speaking, everyone knew a bit about the exceptional disciples of a few notable Super Sects, but none matched these six individuals before them.
What was going on?
Could these individuals be total novices?
Were they casually seated?
“I heard that the Blood Demon Sect recently recognized a new Saint Heir, someone very low-key; could one of them be among these six?”
“It’s possible, but regardless of whether they are the prized talents of Super Sects, they’re not having an easy time today. The first chair has been taken—Ice Dragon Island’s reputation is on the line.”
“Yes, Ice Dragon Island’s most distinguished talent is their leading disciple, Long Aotian, who arrived deliberately late today, probably to draw all the attention. Unfortunately, for all his calculations, he didn’t foresee that no one would actually vacate a seat for him, leaving only the very last spot available—his face must be lost all the way back home.”
Perhaps the whispered discussions reached the ears of the Island Master, who huffed softly before slowly speaking.
“Today, everyone is free to express their opinions without restraint. There is still a quarter-hour before the tea party begins; perhaps some disciples have yet to arrive. Let us wait a little longer.”
“I hold great admiration for all of you, the promising youths of various major sects, the enlightened among you. Do not hold yourselves back here; feel free to act as if you are at home.”
The Island Master was a stunning beauty, cold as an iceberg, with delicate features, almond-shaped eyes, and red lips, her well-fitted robe accentuating her curves in a heart-racing manner, looking no older than the girl next door, with no trace of the ravages of time upon her face—only her beautiful eyes seemed tinged with deep fatigue.
Hearing this, the disciples gradually quieted down, each staring at those seated, eager to see their reaction. However, they were disappointed as the six new faces sat unflappably in their chairs, as steady as Mount Tai.
“Thanks to the Island Master for her generosity!”
“The Island Master has a kind and generous heart. Ice Dragon Island is destined to prosper!”
The cultivators quickly chimed in, lavishing praise on the Island Master.
“Great Elder has arrived!”
“Second Elder has arrived!”
Outside, dual cries echoed through the hall, their sharpness betraying an eunuch’s tone.
Behind the crowd, two venerable figures appeared. One man walked with a vigorous stride, his youthful appearance and bright eyes belying his age. The other was bone-thin, with a faltering step, flanked by two enchanting women assisting him on each side, their allure distracting the young cultivators nearby.
Li Xiaobai, hidden among the group, recognized the vigorous elder as the Great Elder. Today’s gathering must be significant to Ice Dragon Island for three important figures to attend simultaneously, lending a tense aura to the atmosphere within White Jade Tower.
“Lin Bei greets the Island Master!”
The Great Elder was very respectful, greeting the Island Master with a fist salute and bow.
The Second Elder next to him scoffed at this, passing by the Island Master with disdain and sitting down beside the deputy, murmuring, “Little Lin is still as hypocritical as ever. What’s the point of respecting one on the verge of death? Better he dies soon so I can take his place.”
“Great Elder, please rise, there’s no need for such formalities.”
The Island Master responded, not in the least bit upset, instead offering the Great Elder a slight smile, her beautiful lips curving into a breathtaking arc, exuding amiability.
“Thank you, Island Master!”
Lin Bei rose to his feet, with Li Xiaobai noticing a visible swallow, clearly harboring special feelings for the Island Master.
“How have you been lately, Second Elder?”
The beautiful Island Master turned her smile toward Elder Zhang, who sat comfortably by himself.
“Quite well indeed. I never imagined, in my lifetime, I’d outlive another Island Master. That’s not too bad at all.”
Elder Zhang’s wrinkled face twisted sardonically as he spoke.
“Second Elder’s longevity pleases me greatly.”
“Yet today belongs to the younger generation. We are merely here to facilitate connections. Let the youth interact more; Second Elder, we should reduce our presence.”
The Island Master spoke lightly, ignoring the sarcasm in Second Elder’s words.
“I’ve seen enough in my long life, Island Master. You should take care of yourself.”
“Young Master Long has arrived!”
Just then, a shout from outside broke the tense atmosphere within the hall. A young man entered White Jade Tower with a swift stride, his face aglow with a rosy flush.
This young man had a handsome, sharply defined face, his eyebrows sharp and eyes bright, confidently striding forward before the assembly, as if surrounded by stars, his white robe fluttering as he headed directly for the foremost chairs.
“Young Master Long!”
“It’s Young Master Long Aotian!”
“The most talented disciple of Ice Dragon Island! He’s finally here!”
The surrounding disciples whispered in astonishment, recognizing the other party.
Long Aotian, expressionless, proceeded step by step under everyone’s gaze. Although he appeared calm on the surface, the gleam of triumph in his eyes spoke volumes.
However, as he approached the ten chairs, his expression suddenly changed. The premier seat was already taken, leaving only the last one at the end. Who was so ignorant to steal his spotlight!
“Disciple Long Aotian, greets the Island Master!”
Long Aotian respectfully bowed to the Island Master.
“Rise, today is but a family banquet, there’s no need for formalities. It’s a gathering of the younger generation, you manage it amongst yourselves without reserve.”
“Hurry and find a place to sit.”
The Island Master said with a smiling tone.
“I haven’t asked for this lady’s name yet, might you be in the wrong seat? I am Long Aotian, at your service.”
Long Aotian nodded, walked directly up to Su Yunbing with a smile, and spoke with humble politeness.
“Damn, who is late? To be absent at such an important event is to completely disregard the Island Master of Ice Dragon Island. Isn’t this like slapping the Island Master’s face in front of everyone? If you ask me, if you didn’t want to come, then so be it. There’s still a seat here, someone come and take it quickly so we can start the feast. Ol’ Fatty here knew there was a banquet today, and has been fasting since last night; I’m starving!”
Before Su Yunbing could respond, the fatty next to her suddenly shouted, stirring up a commotion in the hall. The cultivators stared at him, eyes wide with shock. To challenge Long Aotian so openly in front of the Island Master was bold!
“Exactly, as cultivators, our respect for the Island Master flows unceasingly like a mighty river. I would’ve arrived at the White Jade Tower yesterday to greet the Island Master if I could. But today, someone still chose to be late, even later than the two Elder Zhangs, it’s truly unbelievable. Perhaps this is a demonstration of the broad-mindedness and tolerance befitting Ice Dragon Island’s top disciple.”
Fourth Senior Brother Yang Chen gently waved his feather fan, his demeanor far more refined than Long Aotian’s.
Fifth Senior Brother Ling Feng nodded in agreement, “I mean, if it were me, I’d be too ashamed to show my face. Brother Aotian sure has a thick skin, not humanly thick, since it’s all scales.”
“I—”
Long Aotian’s face instantly turned a dark shade of purple-red, half from anger and half from fright. These people were too cutting, roasting him over the flames with each word, brazenly criticizing him for disrespecting the elders of Ice Dragon Island. They were ruining his reputation!
Su Yunbing lazily leaned back in her chair, her legs crossed elegantly in her red dress, very enticing: “Brother, you’re late. This seat is available to anyone. You sit in the back.”
“Yes, Brother Aotian, everyone has been waiting for you alone. Don’t make a scene, we’re all adults here. We need to be responsible for our words and actions, to ourselves and to everyone else.”
Ye Wushuang spoke indifferently.
Long Aotian was completely dumbfounded. This wasn’t at all like the scenario he had envisioned. How could it be that today’s chosen disciples of his Ice Dragon Island were all so confrontational, without a trace of deference?
Third Senior Brother Lin Yin said, “Just find a place to sit, don’t block the way.”
“It seems Long someone misspoke, my apologies.”
Long Aotian pinched his nose in acknowledgement, unable to make any subtle moves here in front of three Saint Realm powerhouses!
He quietly walked to the last chair, planning to sit down first and then regain the upper hand during the tea ceremony. There was no way these elite disciples from the super sects could suppress him here!
But just as he prepared to sit, another silhouette approached smoothly and suavely, shifting the chair next to Su Yunbing and boldly took a seat.
“It’s just a chair. Why all the fuss? Move it to where you want and sit, stop wasting words.”
“Hesitating and dawdling, step aside quickly and stop delaying everyone else’s time.”
“Since you don’t value this chair, let me take it then.”
Li Xiaobai spoke lightly, his presence causing the six people around him to glance over, their eyes sweeping across him curiously, somewhat thoughtful. He had not disguised his voice; although his appearance had changed, his voice and stature remained the same, thereby clarifying his identity to his seniors once he spoke.
“And who might you be, sitting in this chair and what do you think it represents? Surely, you aren’t unaware.”
Long Aotian was nearly beside himself with rage as one brazen figure after another appeared, sprouting like bamboo after rain.
These guys couldn’t have conspired deliberately just to make him lose face, right? Had he known it’d be like this, he’d have come earlier and not bothered making such a dramatic final entrance, what was he even trying to prove?
“I am Han Buzhu, the third young master of the Icy Frost Sect, at your service. What can a mere chair represent? Equality is the essence, and if Brother Aotian feels sitting on a chair elevates his status and gives him a sense of superiority, then perhaps his spiritual cultivation still has much to improve.”
Li Xiaobai spoke calmly and slowly.
“You scoundrel, how dare you speak to our great senior brother like this!”
“A mere major sect’s young master dares to rant on the territory of Ice Dragon Island!”
“You’re out of place here; better scram or you won’t be able to bear the consequences!”
The cultivators of Ice Dragon Island glared furiously, with Beishan and others directly standing up to rebuke, the disciples of Icy Frost Sect daring to assume equality with the elite disciples of a super sect was pure folly.
“Are you targeting me deliberately with these accusations?”
“Pray tell, what wrongs has Long someone committed against you? Speak now, and Long will surely apologize.”
Long Aotian’s eyes sparkled with red light, his hands trembling with anger, but his outward demeanor remained serene.
Li Xiaobai’s expression remained calm: “I’m not targeting anyone in particular.”
“I just want to say, everyone seated here, is rubbish.”
