106. Calling the Parent
It was the first time Su Qi learned that the one asking you to call your parent might not necessarily be a teacher, it could also be a police officer.
Su Qi looked at the police uncle in front of her with a kind smile, finding it a bit hard to imagine how he could say “have your parent come over” so calmly.
The chief looked at the somewhat dazed Su Qi. She was just eating happily a second ago, but the next second her chicken leg fell to the ground and she wasn’t even aware of it. Could it be he really was old?
He had no choice. As a middle-aged man, he felt there was a generation gap communicating with a girl. He crooked a finger at Zhang Ru, gesturing for her to come over.
Seeing this action, Zhang Ru understood. She winked at Su Qi and said quietly: “Relax, I’ll go see what’s going on.”
The chief was already 53 years old this year. A 53-year-old chief of course couldn’t understand the kind of terror an 18-year-old student felt upon hearing they’re calling the parent.
But Zhang Ru was different. She had just turned 24 this year and could very much understand the fear of a teacher calling the parent. After all, 18 years old is generally high school age, still quite afraid of parents!
But she was really thinking wrong. Although Su Qi was 18, she had skipped a grade in junior high and a grade in high school. Now she was already a sophomore in university.
As for calling the parent, Su City and Zhe Province were really quite far apart. Although there’s high-speed rail and it only takes a bit over 2 hours to arrive, it still sounded far.
And right now, Su Qi also didn’t want to actively go see her father. It would make her feel like she lost.
If her father pointed out to her face that she couldn’t survive without his help, Su Qi felt that would be failing her persistence over the past two years.
Zhang Ru looked at Su Qi’s file on the computer, her eyes widening in surprise.
Su Qi had no criminal record. The information recorded in her file was the same as most students, the schools she attended in junior high and high school, her scores on the high school and college entrance exams, and the university she’s attending now.
Where was Zhang Ru surprised? Anyone who has been through the high school entrance exam knows that besides the academic subjects, there’s also a 30-point physical assessment recorded in the exam scores.
And for average people, as long as you practice a bit, even if you can’t get a full 30 points, at worst it’s around 25 points!
Zhang Ru remembered the weakest girl in her class back then got 24 points. But Su Qi’s score was a horrifying 19 points.
Getting 19 points meant Su Qi had already started crossdressing as male before the high school entrance exam?
Plus, Zhang Ru noticed another detail. Su Qi was already a sophomore now, doesn’t that mean she had already been living in the boys’ dorm for a year?
Such a pitiable little girl, entering the boys’ dorm for a year, Zhang Ru didn’t dare imagine. She just felt very angry.
Although Su Qi was an adult now, Zhang Ru still felt it was necessary to talk to her family. After all, seeing such a young girl going astray was the last thing she wanted to see as a police officer. Although she hadn’t interacted with Su Qi for long, Su Qi’s naive personality practically had “I’m easy to trick” written on her face. It really made her worry.
Moreover, changing the ID card really required a relevant proof person. This person could only be a relative, the kind on the household registration. So no matter what, a relative had to be present. The parents were the best choice.
Hearing Zhang Ru’s explanation, Su Qi felt a headache coming. Why did she just want to go out and eat a bowl of spicy soup, how did so many things happen!
What should she do now?
Seeing Su Qi look like she wanted to say something but stopped, as if she had some unspeakable secret, Zhang Ru felt even more that her parents had a problem.
“If you don’t say it, we can still investigate and find out your parents’ contact information. So it’s better if you cooperate.”
Dealing with an 18-year-old kid, if Zhang Ru put on a formal air, it would be very easy to scare her, especially since this was the police station. She had the home court advantage.
Plus, she had dealt with many fighting incidents this year and had experience.
But facing Su Qi’s pitiful gaze, she found she couldn’t say those harsh words. Even her tone softened.
“Sister Zhang Ru, as long as it’s a relative it’s okay?” Su Qi confirmed again.
“It has to be someone on your household registration! Understand? An uncle or such won’t do.” Zhang Ru corrected.
Su Qi thought for a bit. If it’s someone on the household registration, the only way is to call her two nominal older brothers.
Speaking of her brothers, Su Qi felt it was very interesting.
As for the reason, it’s that the names of the 7 of them seemed to be joking around.
This has to be traced back to Su Qi’s grandfather. Su Qi’s grandfather had three children.
Because the great-grandfather was in the Eighth Route Army and the grandfather also inherited his mantle, he named Su Qi’s father and his two brothers Hai, Lu, and Kong. Actually, Su Qi’s father was originally called Su Lujun. But at that time, the road in front of their door was always in disrepair.
Grandfather thought of the Eighth Route Army again and changed it to Su Lujun. As for Su Qi’s two uncles, they were Su Haijun and Su Kongjun.
As if inheriting the family profession, after the three of them had families, starting from when eldest uncle Su Haijun’s first child Su Weiyi was born, the three of them agreed to name the children according to numbers from then on. It could be considered indirectly avenging their father’s Hai, Lu, Kong.
Originally each family had two children. Su Qi’s birth could be said to be a complete accident. According to the eldest uncle, if the ultrasound at the time hadn’t detected that he was a girl, he most likely would have been aborted.
So when he was born, unlike his brothers’ three-character names, they casually added a Qi after the surname and called it a day. And it has to be said, it sounded quite nice.
Coincidentally, Su Qi’s two biological older brothers were Three and Four respectively.
Added together it was exactly seven.
Su Qi’s relationship with her two brothers was much better than with her father.
Because they also didn’t like their father’s stubborn old personality. They disliked even more their father planning his expectations for them.
Although Su Qi’s body was a bit weak, the two brothers still quite admired Su Qi’s stubborn courage to directly oppose the old man.
The two of them only slowly rebelled after entering university. Who would have thought Su Qi actually ran away before university and earned her own tuition.
Usually when the three of them had free time, they would also call each other. After all, blood is thicker than water. The relationship was really not bad. The two brothers always asked if he lacked money, but Su Qi never took it.
Su Qi first dialed her third brother Su Santai’s number.
After graduating from military school, her third brother started going against her father. He opened a food processing factory. It was an internet celebrity product nowadays. Sometimes it could be seen on Shake. It was relatively close to Su City. Sometimes her third brother would even drive over to bring her some snacks. It made Su Qi feel very touched. Thinking of the distance, Su Qi called him first!
The phone rang for about thirty seconds before it was picked up.
“Hey, Little Qi, what’s up, miss your brother?” Su Santai’s happy voice came from the receiver.
Hearing his healthy voice, Su Qi also felt happy. She said hoarsely:
“Third Brother, where are you?”
But Su Santai’s next sentence made her smile freeze: “Hahaha, I’m in Hainan eating big mangoes. Little Qi, tell your brother if there are any fruits you want to eat and I’ll bring them back for you.”
Zhang Ru found Su Qi’s greatly changing expressions extremely interesting.
Although it wasn’t as exaggerated as face-changing, the sparkling light flashing in this little girl’s bright eyes when she answered the phone and the dejected pout after hanging up had too much contrast.
Su Qi looked at the other contact on her phone, Su Siyang. She was a bit conflicted about whether to call or not.
