Ch. 144
Saturday at noon, Lin Nan and Chen Yao stood at the hotel entrance, watching Lina walk into some secluded alley.
Chen Yao looked completely confused, not knowing why this person was heading toward a deserted alley. Lin Nan suspected that she might be planning to travel to the other world right then and there.
He didn't know when Lina would return, much less how she planned to bring that soulless body she mentioned to this world.
Speaking of which, a soulless body... wasn't that just a corpse?!
Lin Nan suddenly felt a chill and shivered, then instinctively hid behind Chen Yao.
"What's wrong with you..." Chen Yao looked down at Lin Nan behind him. Having not slept all night, his dark circles were so heavy he looked like a ghost. He asked with concern, "She didn't do anything to you last night, did she?"
"We just... simply slept..."
Lin Nan shook his head helplessly. He had originally risked being violated and hastily gotten invisibility magic, while Lina had worn "bulletproof armor" at risk of Lin Nan's midnight revenge. When everything became clear, he felt like Chen Yao was the ultimate winner.
At least Chen Yao had princess-carried him for over ten minutes!
Why did it seem like he was always losing lately? Last time with the seaside swimsuit he lost everything and only benefited those random passersby. This time with the princess carry, Chen Yao hit the jackpot again.
"It's good that nothing happened." Chen Yao breathed a sigh of relief. He had really been afraid that Lina would cause Lin Nan some psychological trauma, and also worried that Lina might be a genuine pervert.
But looking at Lin Nan's condition, it seemed like they really had just simply slept.
It appeared that Lina had just deliberately teased Lin Nan using her position as someone in the know. Although it was just a joke, he still felt Lina had gone a bit too far.
If possible, he would rather be the one to suffer instead of Lin Nan!
Lina with that loli face and good figure, tsk tsk.
Lin Nan seemed a bit absent-minded, occasionally glancing at pedestrians on the street. As usual, he couldn't quite adapt to those pedestrians' gazes, so he lowered his head with his face slightly flushed.
At least that's how it appeared to Chen Yao, while Lin Nan was simply feeling embarrassed remembering that princess carry.
"Let's hurry back to the dorm," Lin Nan urged.
"Don't want to eat out?"
"I don't have money..."
Chen Yao, having known Lin Nan for a long time, immediately understood that Lin Nan's meaning was actually "you treat."
"Let's eat together at the cafeteria, my treat." He generously patted Lin Nan's shoulder. "Eat whatever you want! But I'll need to sleep after we get back to the dorm. I played Honor of Kings with Dong An all night."
With someone treating, Lin Nan was naturally happy to go to the cafeteria with Chen Yao.
When they arrived at the cafeteria, it was exactly lunchtime. Although the weekend cafeteria wasn't as crowded as during weekday classes, it could still be considered packed. Lin Nan found a seat first while Chen Yao went to queue for food.
He wondered if things were going smoothly for Lina in the other world.
Lina had previously said that magical power varied for each person due to their souls. Although Lin Nan's magical power was extremely similar to Lilith's—Lina had directly mistaken him for Lilith at their first meeting—she had later discovered the discrepancy.
He didn't know if those people in the other world would notice any problems.
He calculated that if using magic three times meant completely becoming female, then he still had two chances to unlock new magic this semester. After those two times, he would become a girl... To be honest, there wasn't much difference between his current self and a girl. It was basically equivalent to just having a little Lin Nan.
But having a little Lin Nan still allowed him to consider himself a man and live in the dorm with confidence. If he became a girl, his mindset would be completely different.
"Use one magic for studying, mm, unlock it during final exam review... and use another one the day before break starts. After becoming a girl, I'll need to go to the hospital and charm a doctor to help issue surgery certification..."
Lin Nan muttered to himself, but felt that the last item of charming a doctor was excessively shameful.
He had actually searched online for the documents needed to change gender identity. First was hospital certification, basically things like diagnostic reports, then going to a notary office to certify that the diagnostic report was genuine...
This step was the most troublesome part. If Lin Nan had normal surgery, this step would just waste some time, but now he didn't know what magic to use to simultaneously fool both the hospital and notary office staff.
If only he had the kind of magic Lina used when checking into the hotel last night, where she just glared and the other party obeyed everything...
"What are you thinking about while spacing out?" Chen Yao returned with a tray, went to get two bowls of rice, then sat directly across from Lin Nan.
He looked very tired. Having worried about Lin Nan all night, he was finally relaxing now. He sat there, ate two bites of rice, then his head would inadvertently droop down before he'd suddenly wake up and quickly lift his head.
Lin Nan felt a bit sorry for Chen Yao, plus the shame from being princess-carried two days ago made him lower his head awkwardly, not daring to look at him.
"Chen Yao."
Suddenly a voice came. The two turned to look and found it was their academic advisor who was also planning to eat at the cafeteria.
"Advisor Zheng?" Chen Yao didn't seem surprised. He was the sports committee member of the class and quite active normally, so the advisor often asked him to help with things.
The advisor sat down beside Chen Yao with his tray, looked up curiously at Lin Nan, and said with a smile, "You've gotten even prettier since we met a few days ago. You haven't started wearing makeup, have you?"
"No." Lin Nan wasn't familiar with him and kept his head down eating.
After unlocking invisibility magic, Lin Nan hadn't noticed any changes even among his constantly together roommates, but the advisor seemed to have spotted some clues.
The advisor didn't mind Lin Nan's coldness. He normally didn't have much communication with class students anyway. If not for his curiosity about how Lin Nan, as a boy, could be as pretty as the class beauty, he wouldn't bother talking to Lin Nan.
He turned to look at Chen Yao and instructed, "Come to my office later and take the physical examination forms back to distribute in the dorm. Tell them not to lose them. If they lose them, they can find a clean copy to photocopy."
"Okay." Chen Yao nodded.
"You two are roommates, right?" The advisor glanced at Lin Nan, frowned, and asked Chen Yao in a low voice, "He doesn't have any psychological problems, does he? I remember he wasn't like this last semester."
Although he hadn't been an advisor for long, last year a colleague's student had jumped off a building and committed suicide. Before the suicide, that student had also shown strange reactions and behaviors.
Currently Lin Nan just looked like a girl, but if he didn't have psychological problems, shouldn't a normal male not dress himself up to look like a girl?
If a student under his supervision really committed suicide, he wouldn't escape responsibility either. He was still pursuing his graduate degree, and if problems arose, he might not even be able to graduate.
"Maybe he just matured?" Although Chen Yao knew the situation, he still helped cover, "He was actually like this before, but he had more acne then and rougher skin. This semester he started using skincare products, and this is the result."
Skincare products had plastic surgery functions?
This advisor wasn't stupid. He had already seen Lin Nan's student ID photo taken at enrollment. Although that photo compared to now still had seven or eight layers of similarity, if you tried to imagine beauty filters based on that photo, Lin Nan couldn't possibly have become what he looked like now.
He was probably affected by some blow and started letting himself go?
"No, come to the office with me later. I'll get a psychological assessment form for you to fill out for him." The more he thought about it, the more worried he became. "You should take care of him more. Let me know if you notice anything, and try not to let him be alone..."
Chen Yao felt the advisor was making a big fuss over nothing.
