I Don’t Want To Be the Main Character

chapter 147

Side story 1. Our pet cat (1)

1.

“Ugh.”

Arwen rolled around on the bed. It would be more accurate to say that she rolled around because she was bored doing nothing.

And even in this spacious two-story mansion, Arwen’s room was quite special.

She had overcome the sun, but that didn’t mean she was immune to its effects when exposed to sunlight. That’s why she was so uncomfortable with sunlight that she kept the windows tightly covered, like a dark room, with curtains tightly shut so that not a single ounce of light could enter.

If anything shone, it was only the purple eyes that resembled Arwen’s tombstone.

“I’m bored.”

Arwen muttered, rolling around on the bed again.

Today is Tuesday.

It was very early in the morning, more like dawn than morning. And today, Tuesday, was a special day for Arwen.

“When will Ludrick come?”

Arwen’s thoughts blurted out without thinking while rolling around on the bed.

To explain this, I had to go back in time. And not just a few days ago, but a long time, almost a year.

Exactly one year ago now.

The wedding ended up being a bit disorganized because Sylphia and Arwen got involved in the middle of it. In fact, even if it had gone ahead as planned, it wouldn’t have been possible to finish the wedding with a grand blessing and cheers from everyone, but if you think about it calmly, the wedding ended up being a result of those two stepping up, suppressing the contemptuous stares with fear.

And after the wedding, when they bought a two-story mansion in the new capital city that looked like something out of a painting, and when they had a proper new home.

The moment the first dinner in their new home was over, Ludrick made a unilateral announcement.

“I thought about it carefully.”

Everyone held their breath at the statement that he had thought about it carefully alone.

After adding that statement to his speech one day, Ludrick calmly blurted out that he didn’t want to choose just one, so he would just marry all five of them. Everyone who remembered that moment flinched almost reflexively.

Ludrick did not disappoint and spewed out some outrageous words this time too.

“I think it would be better to just decide on a rotation system based on the days of the week rather than bickering and fighting with each other for no reason.”

Ludrick put down his fork and knife, daintily wiped his mouth with a napkin, and spoke nonchalantly, as if he were talking about something as mundane as the weather today.

Everyone looked at him with angry expressions, recalling Ludrick’s casual remark that if things were going to be like this, they should decide on a turn system. Ludrick’s attitude was stubborn, regardless of whether they thought about it or not.

The result of this was the day-by-day rotation system.

From Tuesday to Saturday, they would take turns, and Sunday was shared. Monday was Ludrick’s alone time. That was roughly how it was set up.

And back to the present moment.

“Hmmmm……”

Arwen glared at the door, her voice low.

The sound of footsteps was heard. The owner of the footsteps was, without a doubt, Ludrick. In fact, even now, a year later, Arwen felt strange and unfamiliar with the feeling of being treated like an object when she was spoken to like that, but in any case, she looked forward to every Tuesday.

Because Tuesday was the day assigned to Arwen.

“I’m here.”

“I’ve been waiting for you for a long time.”

“Turn on some lights and live. The sunlight is harsh, so lighting has nothing to do with it. Are you a child of darkness?”

“If we have to be exact, that’s closer to it than light.”

Arwen answered calmly and hugged Ludrick as soon as he opened the door and turned on the light.

To be more precise, it was not Arwen who hugged him, but rather she ran to him and hugged him. And unlike before, there was no hesitation in Arwen’s actions.

“I’m excited since morning.”

“What’s so new about this now? It was like this every Tuesday.”

“That’s true.”

Pat pat.

Arwen answered cheerfully, patting Ludrick’s head as she pulled it close to her chest, and Ludrick answered calmly as if nothing had happened.

It was a time of change.

Even just a year ago, this kind of bold skinship would have been hard to imagine. Not only did Arwen not have the courage to do it, but if she had buried her face in his chest like that, Ludrick would have blushed and pushed Arwen away.

But now there was a magic word that made all this, even the slightly risqué contact, insignificant.

“Aren’t you a married couple?”

“Who said what?”

married couple.

Arwen savored the sound of the word on her tongue for a moment. It sounded good. Although it wasn’t the form she had hoped for before her return, it was still a dream come true in some way.

Arwen’s dream before her return was to have a simple wedding ceremony with just the two of them in a secluded castle that was entirely to her taste, and to live together for the rest of her life.

“……It’s a bit different from what I had pictured in my head, you know.”

“what?”

“It’s nothing. Shouldn’t we get a villa later?”

“……Why a villa all of a sudden?”

After letting go of Ludrick, Arwen stared at him with her characteristic purple eyes. Then she glanced around. The mansion was luxurious enough to live in without any lack or hindrance, but it was quite far from her taste.

It seems a bit odd for a vampire to live in a villa built on a yolk in the middle of the imperial capital.

Arwen thought so to herself and said, tossing her hair in an elegant motion.

“Don’t you have a villa in the south, Lassil? A villa with a direct view of the sea?”

“That’s true. Do you want a villa with an ocean view too?”

“The sea is not my style. If I had to choose… I’d rather be in the mountains than at the sea. An old castle nestled in a quiet mountain. Hehe, doesn’t it sound good?”

“…That’s a really typical vampire choice. You know, like in the movies, they live in places like that. And now here comes Van Helsing with a stake in his hand.”

“Sometimes you say strange things that I can’t understand.”

Knock knock.

A thin, white index finger playfully poked Ludrick’s forehead. Then Arwen spoke in the softest, most elegant voice she could muster.

“I’ll find a suitable surname and arrange for it. If the location is good, it doesn’t matter even if it’s in a difficult condition to use. If you use your subordinates, you can make it as good as new in no time.”

“You’re really going to buy a villa? Where do you get the money for it? It’d probably be pretty expensive if it’s in ready-to-use condition. But it’s still a castle.”

“That’s a rumor.”

Arwen smiled brightly and lightly split the space with her outstretched hand. It was a kind of small warp portal, but beyond the space Arwen had split open, a pitch-black darkness filled the space. And, a large pile of jewels and gold coins filled the darkness. Some gold coins used as currency in the empire caught my eye, but most of them were gold coins or jewels issued by old kingdoms or empires that had now fallen.

The value of gold doesn’t change with things like currency designs, so if you just add all that up, you could buy a whole country with just a little exaggeration.

“……There are a lot.”

“If it’s gold, it’s so abundant that it’ll rot and overflow, so it doesn’t matter. After all, it’s just something that’s been hoarded and never used.”

Ludrick looked at Arwen with a new look in his eyes. In fact, the cost of maintaining dignity and research support from the empire was not small, but even for Ludrick, who spent a lot of money on various magic reagents and materials, it was an enormous amount.

Arwen, her chest puffed out as if she was in high spirits, tried to look elegant and held out a glass of red wine.

And Ludrick, looking at Arwen like that, recalled the memories of his past life that were now slowly fading away.

How should I describe Arwen?

“Take it. My arm hurts.”

“Drinking in the morning?”

“Isn’t it okay to have a drink before a meal?”

“Usually you drink like that before dinner. Not like this, when you wake up in the wee hours of the morning.”

“For me, it is rather late in the evening now. I am not a human, but a true king.”

“…You slept until dawn. You’re a vampire only when it’s convenient for you.”

“Huh huh.”

My older sister is rich and pretty, but she keeps trying to get me to drink.

Ludrick nodded as he roughly organized the images in his head. Ludrick received the glass, took a sip, and as soon as he put it down on the table, Arwen’s outstretched arm grabbed Ludrick.

Slap.

Ludrick, who had been pulled out, fell onto the bed and draped himself over Arwen. Although it was early morning, it was still evening on Arwen’s biological clock, just as Arwen had said.

Besides, now, it’s different from a year ago when we lived in the same room together but couldn’t even make a decent progress because we were too shy. It’s completely different from back then when we couldn’t feel comfortable because we were worried about what other people thought, and we had to live like animals, pretending to be cats.

“Ludrick. Aren’t we a married couple?”

“……yes?”

When Ludrick, who had suddenly become prone on top of Arwen, answered with a trembling face, Arwen licked her lips and her eyes sparkled wickedly.

“……Isn’t it true that as a married couple, it doesn’t matter what you do?”

“……I’m going to scream.”

“Scream as much as you want. I don’t really have a preference for forcing things, but… sometimes I think I want to hear you cry. I’ll put up a soundproof barrier with magic anyway, so it doesn’t matter.”

“This was just completely bizarre!”

Ludrick, who suddenly appeared to be attacked from the morning, screamed in terror, but Arwen responded naturally.

“Is there a problem? I just want to have a child now. I’d like my first child to be a son who looks just like you. In any case, you need to have a relationship to release the magic power stored inside you, don’t you?”

“I was wondering why you weren’t saying anything about wanting to have children…….”

“Haven’t you had enough fun as newlyweds for a year? This isn’t the first time you’ve been embarrassed like a newlywed.”

Arwen, who was giggling, untied her braided hair. The magic stone light that had been turned on when Ludrick entered the room had long since changed into mood lighting.

Arwen pulled at Ludrick’s clothes, exposing his shoulders, and lightly bit the nape of his neck with her fangs, leaving marks.

There is a common expression that says that when newlyweds meet each other, their eyes are set on fire. Although neither Arwen nor Ludrick were aware of it, in that sense, they were still newlyweds.
