Sara watched as her master suddenly seemed to notice something. Without a word, Kiichi scooped her up and leapt into the air, her wings carrying them aloft.
Kiichi's wings were white, with a faint touch of black at their tips—completely unlike Sara's.
In Sara's understanding, the wings of a tengu were supposed to be pure black…
But then again, her master had so many extraordinary features that the color of her wings seemed relatively unremarkable.
Still…
"They're so beautiful…" Sara murmured.
"Hmm? Did you say something just now?"
The pristine white feathers shimmered in the light, their brilliance rivaling that of the clouds in the sky. A few drifted softly on the wind as Kiichi flew.
Sara, momentarily entranced, snapped out of her daze when Kiichi glanced back at her with curiosity.
"Ah! No, no, I didn't say anything!" Sara shook her head furiously, like a startled drum.
The wind, Kiichi's eternal companion, flowed gently past Sara's face, soft and soothing despite their high-speed flight.
"Master, where are we going—?" Sara began, but her question trailed off when something unexpected appeared in view.
Though she had spent her entire life in the forest, Sara could still recognize what she was seeing.
"A… village?"
A village, complete with sunlight, a sky, and vegetation.
Was this really inside the seal?
Sara had assumed Kiichi was heading toward the village, thinking that where there was a village, there might be people who could provide assistance.
However, before they could reach the settlement, Kiichi descended, landing gracefully in front of a young girl.
Her massive wings seemed to blot out the sky, and the feathers falling around her were like ethereal snowflakes, giving her an otherworldly, almost divine presence.
The young girl instinctively whispered, "An angel…"
Hearing this, Kiichi paused, her expression briefly blank with surprise.
An angel? Did such a concept exist in Teyvat?
In a world filled with adepti, Archons, and gods, what exactly would an "angel" be?
Well, there was a tavern in Mondstadt called "Angel's Share."
So, perhaps angels did exist in Teyvat's mythology.
The thought amused Kiichi, and a faint smile crept across her lips.
"Sara calls me a god, and now you're calling me an angel. Honestly, I should be the exact opposite, don't you think? Should I take this as an insult? Like you're saying I lack the grandeur that a proper youkai should have?"
"...Huh? You're not an angel?" The girl tilted her head in surprise. "But… you're so beautiful, and you have these pure white wings…"
"Hmm, if it's a compliment about my beauty, I suppose I have no choice but to accept it," Kiichi replied, her tone playful. "After all, I am quite stunning, aren't I? You've got good taste, little one. Gahaha!"
As she laughed, her signature chuckle echoed, brimming with mirth.
But in truth, Kiichi's current appearance wasn't fixed—neither her form nor her gender were immutable. Her body could change at will, adapting to any shape or identity she desired. The form she currently used was simply the one she had when summoned, so she kept it for convenience.
According to her own words, this was her most commonly used appearance, though she hinted that her most imposing form was something else entirely.
Because she wasn't human, her essence deviated from humanity. Lacking the emotions that defined a person, Kiichi viewed distinctions like male or female, human or tengu, as utterly meaningless.
She regarded all beings with the same detached neutrality.
Still, the fact that she favored this particular form suggested a certain degree of satisfaction with it. Thus, the girl's innocent compliment genuinely delighted her.
"Alright, no need to be shy," Kiichi said, patting Sara on the head. "Go on, say hello. This is probably your first time meeting someone your own age… Well, close enough to your age."
Encouraged by her master, Sara turned her attention from the "angel sister" to the girl in front of them.
"It's nice to meet you. My name is Sara. You can just call me Sara," she said, her tone formal and polite, as was her nature.
"And as for my name…" Kiichi began, her expression turning thoughtful. "Well, I have quite a few, don't I? But for now, you can call me Kiichi. As for how you address me… that's up to you. Sister, Miss, Ma'am—I don't mind. But listen up, little one: I'm not an angel or a god. I'm a great youkai—a tengu."
"Wow… that's so complicated," the girl said, furrowing her brow before breaking into a bright smile. "So, you're Sara-sister and Kii-sister, right? My name is Chika. My mommy gave me that name!"
"That's a lovely name. Your mom must be amazing," Kiichi said with a warm grin.
"Uh-huh! She's incredible!" Chika nodded enthusiastically. "I always see my daddy kneeling in front of her!"
Kiichi chuckled and ruffled Chika's hair, while Sara stood quietly in the background.
Since introducing herself, Sara hadn't found an opening to join the conversation—or much desire to.
It was ironic. Kiichi, a being often described as lacking humanity, was far better at connecting with Chika than Sara, who was human.
Even though the Kiichi here wasn't her original self, she still carried the essence of her spiritual foundation. This made her emotions faint and her human-like traits sparse.
Yet, despite her inhuman nature, Kiichi could emulate humanity.
In Chaldea, there was someone similar: Merlin, the half-incubus, once a candidate for the title of Grand Caster.
Merlin, a hybrid of nightmare and human, also lacked certain traits intrinsic to humans.
Yet he thrived in human society, for as a nightmare, he survived on the dreams and desires of mankind. By observing the beauty of human nature up close, he could mimic it perfectly.
Interestingly enough, Kiichi and Merlin didn't just share these similarities—they also seemed to know each other.
When Kiichi first encountered Merlin in Chaldea, she had remarked, "The Flower Magician? Ah, it's been a long time. The last time we met must've been…"
At that moment, Merlin had hurriedly clapped a hand over her mouth, clearly trying to hide something. It seemed the two of them shared secrets that no one else knew.
