I Died and Was Reincarnated as a Goth Femboy

Chapter 28: A Foxy Addition

Kenjiro stormed back to his suite, his mind a chaotic mess of embarrassment and simmering rage. He had finally gotten rid of the creepy "waifu" wannabe, and all he wanted was to collapse on his bed and forget the entire day had ever happened. He pushed the door open, ready for solitude.

And saw Kaito, the fox femboy, lounging casually on his bed as if he owned the place, winking at him.

That was it. The last frayed nerve in Kenjiro's body snapped. He was on the verge of a full-blown, room-destroying explosion. But then, exhaustion washed over him. He was too tired to even scream. He took a deep, shuddering breath, calming himself down, and walked closer to the bed.

"What are you doing here?" he asked, his voice dangerously quiet.

Kaito sat up, a playful pout on his lips. "Nothing... I just missed you," he said, his giant, fluffy tail swishing behind him. "And you didn't invite me to your party."

Kenjiro's eye started twitching. "Ryo said I should recruit other people, not just the same strong ones."

Kaito tilted his head, a sly grin forming. "I don't get it. You have three people in your party, and they're all level 30 or higher. Sounds pretty strong to me."

Kenjiro's face flushed. He was caught. "Uh, so, yeah... you weren't in the main lobby when I was recruiting, so... y-yeah. Not my fault," he huffed, turning away.

"You know," Kaito said, his voice dropping to a smooth purr. "We Kitsunes don't like being ignored. But if you do something for me, I could forgive you..."

"WHATEVER IT IS, I'M NOT INTERESTED!" Kenjiro yelled, blushing furiously.

"I was going to say you could just let me join anyway," Kaito laughed. "Four members is the minimum requirement to be an official party, but you can have more than that, dummy~"

Kenjiro stood there, defeated. Another powerful ally would make things easier. He let out a long, suffering sigh. "Fine. You can come."

Kaito's face lit up with a genuine, happy smile. A moment of silence passed.

"Now get out of my room," Kenjiro said, then whispered to himself, "...perv."

"We also have really good hearing," Kaito called back from the doorway.

Kenjiro let out an incoherent scream of frustration and practically kicked him out before slamming the door. He collapsed into bed and fell into a deep, troubled sleep.

The next morning, he felt different. He had a full party. A strong party. He walked to the mission board with a new swagger, his red eyes scanning past the C-Rank quests. His gaze landed on the next tier. It was time to stop playing it safe.

He pointed to a listing, his voice steady and confident. "We'll take this one."

Mission Rank: B

Objective: Hunt the Chimera of the Crimson Peaks.

Warning: Highly aggressive and magic-resistant beast. Experienced party required.

The payment was massive. This, Kenjiro thought with a smirk, would be a good quest.
