I Died and Was Reincarnated as a Goth Femboy

Chapter 19: The First Quest

Kenjiro stood before the massive mission board, his new party members flanking him. Gluteus Maximus was a reassuring mountain of steel on his right, while the shy elf healer, Lyrielle, stood quietly to his left, her green eyes nervously darting around the bustling guild hall.

A sense of responsibility, heavy and unfamiliar, settled on Kenjiro's shoulders. He scanned the listings, his eyes automatically drawn to the Rank C quests. He thought back to the Weeping Caves and the Murkwood Marsh. Both missions had been challenging, and if he was being honest with himself, he had only survived because Ryo, Kaito, and Gluteus had carried him. He was the "S-Tier Lily," but in terms of actual combat prowess, he was the weak link. Now, leading his own party, he couldn't afford any mistakes.

He needed to know what he was working with. His gaze fell upon a nearby adventurer, a girl with cat ears who was casually checking her own stats on a guild-issued scanner. An idea sparked. Before he could talk himself out of it, he zipped over, snatched the scanner from her hands, and pointed it at his new healer while her back was turned talking to Gluteus.

A holographic panel materialized, displaying her information.

Kenjiro's eyes widened. "Oh," he whispered to himself, a slow grin spreading across his face. "She'll be super useful. With that luck and perception, plus she's a genius... this is going to be easy." The possibilities started swirling in his head. They could spot traps, find rare items, and outsmart any opponent.

His strategic daydreaming was cut short when the scanner was abruptly snatched back from his grasp. The cat-eared girl glared at him, puffing her cheeks out. "Rude," she huffed, before stomping away.

Kenjiro flushed with embarrassment, but he quickly shook it off. The confidence from seeing Lyrielle's stats was a potent balm for his pride. He was the leader, and he had a powerful team.

"Alright, party!" he announced, trying to sound as commanding as possible. "I've made my decision."

He marched up to the counter, his new teammates following obediently. He pointed to a mission on the board, a confident glint in his eye. This time, he wouldn't just be carried. This time, he would lead them to victory. This quest would be a success.
