I created my own system

Chapter 354: Fatigue

Apollo's pov

The sun came and it marks the first dawn of the blood season. I look at the piercing light. Unexpectedly the clouds that brought the heavy snow was wash away when i summon the power of the stars.

"Finally done" I muttered feeling somehow relief that I no longer felt any significanty strong magical beasts marching forward but more importantly it seems the horde is decreasing. Even with thier thoughts turn off they could sense danger and thus sensing the death of a powerful being, they could feel that retreat is more beneficial than wasteful death. After all sensing danger is something any beings have.

And so when the back up that will replace us arrive they didn't have a hard time defending the mine. On the other hand I found out that my friends who was supposed to be resting, returned to thier respective post when they heard Alicia leaving to fight a mysterious monster.

"I should have have told them I was with her"

Right after that we regroup at the barracks and took our time to rest.

The second moon rose, meaning that it was our time to fight again. I went with Alicia to our post and there we saw another wave of enemy.

I couldn't help but sigh at the amount, just how many beasts are living in Afra. This number goes beyond the statistics we have. These numbers are way too high.

Just where they came from it felt like they are spawning from somewhere.

Wait

Thats right

Just where are they coming from, I forgot to even analyze that part.

I should go there

Later probability

The night deepen until midnight struck marking the second day of the blood season.

"If we finish this it will be two down and three more to go"

Alicia just nodded beside me, looking closer it seems something is bothering her. However given the circumstances i know she wont answer me. So for now I will set it aside until this blood season ends.

"Damn it and here I might spend my new year covered in blood by those beast.

I slowly breath feeling the power of winter but then what i could only smell is the scent of blood.

The onslaught continuous while the air continue to be cold and demanding. The snow had never stopped falling. And yet, the battlefield felt hotter than ever, burned by endless spells, rainned by shells and bolts, scorched by metal, and soaked in blood and mana. The white field was now a chaotic blend of ash-gray slush and shattered stone. Craters dotted the land where towers of ice and flame once clashed.

This time I dont see any more celestial ranks, that was a good change except for the numbers. More beasts. Stronger waves. They look like an endless pool of ants ready to attack at any moment.

The Blood Season wasn't easing up; it was escalating. The mechanical soldiers deployed earlier had been retrieved for repairs, fortunately Jeremiah had fix them, also I continue to disguise as mechanical soldies, hopefully no one had noticed that.

I stood on the watchtower, gaze fixed spot where the beast came from. But so far nothing seems to be weird. They are just endless.

"They're not even giving us time to breathe..." I muttered, then i check my spear, the spell matrix embedded in it is almost use up something that didn't happen when i ws fighting against the Monastery or even the church. The lines glowed faintly, signaling its slowly waying energy. Not empty, but frayed. Like an overused blade dulled and chipped. I closed my eyes trying to fix it, adding more layers to create more durability.

Soon I was seent into the field again trying to stop any more beast from getting into the first layer of the wall. Currently the fortress that protects the mines have six walls that hinders any flying, crawling or even digging type of magical beast. What we need to do is o stop them from getting into even the first layer. Cause once its breach, it will continue forward until they finally arrive at the mine.

My body move fast killing any enemy I see beside me was Alicia, it seems even her is having a hard time fending off the horde. My mind aches a bit since there are multiple me who is fighting from across the other four forest. The hordes are all the same, endles and seem to swallow everything. I clench my teeth and look at my heavy body that is covered with blood. I look at my surrounding and all sorts of things are there. Bones, cores, guts and even piece of left over arm from the soldiers.

I steeled myself across the chaos, my ears are filled with relentless cycle between screams and explosion. The spell towers were very merciless striking a large area to eliminate every beast but those monsters that dare come here are all quipped to prove themselves. They tried to defend, survive and to become strong. In the end only the strongest can have the things that they wnated to have.

And so the hours went by and my body continue to be covered in blood.

"Hmmm...."

The system could restore stamina, but it couldn't stop the pressure that kept building inside my mind. Even with multiple bodies it could not ease up te burden I am feeeling.

The mental burden of constant casting… the strain of handling three authorities at once… It was catching up to me.

[Creator, your brainwave signals are fluctuating again,] Jeremiah noted in a concerned tone.

[You've exceeded your recommended spellcasting threshold by 438%.]

"I'm fine," I lied. My body wasn't trembling, but I could feel it my mind is increasingly foggy. And my spell casting is also getting slower. This isnt good, also I have been useing the authority of mystics it seem th also contributed to my current state.

With my attacks not as sharp as before Alicia began to noticed it too.

"Apollo," she called softly, walking beside me as she adjusted the blade strapped to her back. "You should rest. I know you're tired."

I thought about it—just switching to another Clonis body and continuing. But I knew better. A new body didn't erase the mental fatigue. The stress lingered. The mind carried the burden even if the body didn't.

"…You're right," I said at last I hate to admit but it seems I am overusing my body. "I'll leave things to you and the others for now."

I stepped back, preparing to retreat into the fortress.

And then it came.

Jeremiah manage to warn me so I was able to retreat into the first wall with Alicia.

"Dont tell another celestial?" My body was still in good shape so for a moment i thought maybe I should just let it fight, in autopilot mode.

More warnings came and soon a crack in the air came. A low, vibrating pitch like thunder filtered through snow. Then—roars that irrates me came to my ears.

[Warning: Celestial-ranked magical signatures incoming.]

"Of course," I exhaled sharply, summoning my spear to attack for me.

"Damn it they all look strong, should I really go autopilot"

[Thats dangerous]

"How about you control my body"

[Lady Alicia will notice it, it might put you on edge]

I sigh not liking the situation but before I saw the owner of those dangerous presence.

Massive figures emerged from the forest, parting the snowy trees like they were mere curtains. Their presence twisted the mana in the air. The snow swirled violently. Three Celestial-ranked beasts advanced, followed by a swarm of lower-tier creatures.

Each of them was different.

The first—an obsidian-horned Ravager Drake, shrouded in molten mist.

The second—a crystalline Hydra, dripping with venom that froze the air.

The third—a winged behemoth that shimmered with translucent skin, revealing a black core pulsing with mana.

Alicia's corrupted aura surged the moment she saw them. I stood close to her wanting to show that I am willing to help.

"You sure you wanna stay here?" she said with a dry smirk, already drawing a magic circle from the air. The snow beneath her feet burned into glass.

I stood beside her again, forming a bullet embedded with temporal delay and spatial authority. The authorities pulsed through me, Time, Space, Gravity.

"Let's keep this quick."

We moved as one.

Alicia struck first, her spell shot forward, curling around the Hydra's neck. Corrupted mana spread like a virus across its body. The beast screamed, but Alicia didn't flinch. She manipulated the corrupted mana making it a poison to the hydra, she then yanked it forward while conjuring blades from her circle, slashing through the other necks mid-spin.

The Ravager Drake roared in retaliation and charged at me.

"Too slow," I whispered.

Bang!

The bullet curved midair, delayed for 0.7 seconds before reality folded on itself. It hit the ground next to the Drake and triggered a pocket of gravity distortion—flattening the space and dragging the beast to the ground. I followed up with a spear, imbued with the spell of positive lightning.

But then when I was about to land another spell another beast suddenly came in. Casting a shadow that completely devoured my figure.
