Chapter 0
Every child born carries no sin.
At least, they shouldn’t.
“You seem likely to commit a serious crime when you grow up, so three years in prison for you. And you, being even worse, will get seven years.”
If it were you, would you be able to accept a sentence for something you didn’t even do?
“Estasha Latias de Kaizen, Princess.”
Yet, it seems the world is particularly harsh just on me.
I’m already annoyed about being reincarnated as a woman, and now I’m sentenced to life without parole from birth? HA-HA-HA! It’s like a joke. Now I’m expected to face execution, what a twist!
“Do you know your sin?”
Honestly, I still don’t get it.
The only sin I committed was living diligently in my past life.
I got into university without any help from my so-called parents while dragging my disabled body along.
I worked part-time jobs to pay for tuition and living expenses. I tutored on the side as well.
And if that wasn’t enough, I lucked out and found a gig where I didn’t even need to use my legs.
Because I was busy, I didn’t have any real hobbies.
Naturally, I had no time for games, and forget about watching movies or dramas.
In fact, I could squeeze in a novel or two here and there, but regretting that now is just unavoidable.
If only I knew which cliché novel world I had reincarnated into, maybe I wouldn’t feel so lost.
“I still don’t get what you’re thinking.”
How frustrating.
To express my grievance, I’d need at least ten lawyers.
I died for reasons unknown at a construction site, so maybe that’s why I reincarnated into this baffling fantasy world.
Being a woman was a bit of a flaw, but at least I was born with all my limbs intact, and when they said I was a princess of the Empire, I thought my life would be smooth sailing.
But guess what?
I’m destined to become the Demon King who might destroy the world.
What a load of nonsense, and everyone is so eager to kill me.
“Are you really going to stay silent to the end?”
The one pressing the blade against me right now is my half-brother, the Next Emperor.
With the hero already dead and gone, someone has to take his place.
Regardless, I’ve had enough of this life.
I wanted to throw away the life of running away and fighting back.
I might have almost destroyed the world, but I also saved it in the end, so I reckon I’ve paid my dues.
“Just let me die like this.”
“… Are you really going to keep this up?”
He thrust his merciless blade forward.
I felt it was truly the end of my life.
Will there be a next life for me? I ponder as I close my eyes.
If I’m reborn, I hope it’s in modern times instead of this medieval mess.
Where I can take a clean bath and eat fast food to my heart’s content.
And hopefully, I could use magic too. I did kind of like magic in this life…
As long as it’s not a dystopian world overflowing with monsters, I’d be good. Otherwise, I’d bite my tongue and genuinely KILL MYSELF!
And…
And…
I must definitely treat kids without discrimination…
