I Can't Escape This BL Story

Chapter 11: Chapter 11: Soaring Horizons

As Damian finished the last bite of his cake, he glanced at Adrien, who was still jotting notes into his journal. The wyvern's flight seemed to have left an impression on the prince, and Damian couldn't help but smirk.

"You were staring at that wyvern like you wanted to steal it," Damian teased, his tone light. "Have you ever thought about learning how to ride one?"

Adrien blinked, surprised by the sudden question. "Ride a wyvern?" He tilted his head thoughtfully. "I can't say I've ever considered it, but... that sounds exciting."

In his mind, though, a different thought flickered: It has to be more fun than obsessing over avoiding my death.

"Great," Damian said, his grin widening. "When we get back to the castle, I'll take you to the wyvern stables and show you how it's done."

Before Adrien could respond, his mother's voice called out from behind them. "Adrien! There you are."

He turned to see both his mother and stepmother approaching, their regal figures standing out against the garden's picturesque backdrop.

"The party is over, dear," his mother said with a gentle smile. "It's time to head back to the castle."

Adrien nodded, a flicker of excitement lighting up his eyes as he followed them to the waiting carriage. His thoughts, however, were far from the tea party as they made their way home. The idea of riding a wyvern filled him with an unexpected giddiness, something he hadn't felt in a while. Maybe this world isn't all bad after all, he mused.

Back at the castle, Damian wasted no time. "Change into something more casual," he said as they entered Adrien's chambers. "It'll be easier for your first lesson."

Adrien raised an eyebrow. "Are we really doing this today?"

Damian chuckled. "Of course. You looked like a kid on his birthday when I mentioned it earlier. No backing out now, Your Highness."

Adrien couldn't help but laugh as he quickly swapped his royal attire for a more comfortable outfit. Once ready, Damian led him to the wyvern stables, located on the far edge of the castle grounds.

The stables were a sight to behold—massive enclosures built from reinforced stone and iron, designed to house the majestic yet temperamental creatures. The air was filled with the low growls and rustling wings of the wyverns, each one exuding raw power.

Damian approached a sleek, midnight-blue wyvern, its piercing yellow eyes watching him intently. He gently patted its snout, whispering soothing words as it huffed in recognition.

"This is Umbra," Damian said, motioning for Adrien to step closer. "She's one of the more docile ones, so she's perfect for beginners."

Adrien hesitated for a moment before reaching out to touch Umbra's scales. The wyvern's skin was cool and smooth, and he couldn't help but marvel at the creature's beauty.

"Alright," Damian said, mounting the wyvern with practiced ease. "Come on up."

Adrien climbed up awkwardly, gripping Damian's waist for balance.

"Hold on tight," Damian warned with a grin.

Before Adrien could protest, Umbra's wings spread wide, and with a powerful leap, they were airborne. The rush of wind against his face was exhilarating, and Adrien's grip on Damian tightened instinctively.

"Relax," Damian called out over the roar of the wind. "You're not going to fall."

"Easy for you to say!" Adrien shot back, his voice laced with both panic and thrill.

Damian laughed, the sound carrying over the wind. "If you squeeze me any tighter, I might start to think you're enjoying this a little too much."

Adrien's face turned crimson, and he loosened his grip slightly. "Shut up," he muttered, though a small smile tugged at his lips.

They soared over the castle grounds, the sprawling gardens and courtyards shrinking beneath them. Adrien's initial fear began to fade, replaced by a sense of wonder. The world from above was breathtaking, and for the first time in weeks, he felt truly free.

As Umbra glided through the air, Damian turned his head slightly to glance at Adrien. "See? Not so bad, right?"

Adrien met his gaze, a genuine smile breaking across his face. "Yeah... not bad at all."

For a brief moment, everything felt right. No looming threats, no political schemes—just the open sky and the exhilarating freedom of flight.

When they finally landed back at the stables, Adrien dismounted with shaky legs but a wide grin.

"That was incredible," he admitted, brushing his windswept hair out of his face.

Damian smirked. "Told you."

As they walked back toward the castle, Adrien couldn't help but glance at Damian. Even in a world as chaotic as this, there are moments like these that make it all worthwhile, he thought.

In his mind, though, he added another note to his ever-growing list: Mastering wyvern riding—check. Now onto magic... eventually.
