I can rewind time to prevent death

Chapter 926: Extra Story (Must Read for the Finale): Hello, Xiaomo!

"What's your name?"

"Zhang Xiaomo."

"How can I help you?"

"I... I've recently experienced something very strange."

"Could you describe it in detail?"

"Alright. It seems like it started three months ago. There's this man who keeps appearing in my dreams. I swear, I've never seen him before. He's not a friend, a classmate, or a colleague. That face is utterly unfamiliar to me."

"If you saw that face now, would you recognize it?"

"Yes. Although it was unfamiliar at first, he's been in my dreams for so long that now I couldn't be more familiar with it."

"Could he be someone you pass by frequently during your commute? A bystander you never noticed?"

"No. I drive to and from work myself. If I'd regularly encountered someone like that, I would definitely have had an impression."

"Is there anything else you find unusual?"

"Yes, I often see the same three characters. Over this period of time, these three characters keep appearing in front of me repeatedly. And I've noticed something very odd. No matter what I'm doing – eating, shopping, working, watching a movie with my mom – no matter where I am – in a restaurant, on the street, in the office, or at home – one of those three characters inexplicably appears."

"What are those three characters?"

"Can I open my eyes now? I want to write them down."

"Go ahead."

Zhang Xiaomo opened her eyes, sat up from the comfortable sofa she'd been lying on, and took the paper and pen handed to her by a middle-aged woman.

The middle-aged woman appeared to be in her forties, wore glasses, and was dressed in a khaki sweater and black pants. She had a gentle and serene demeanor, a soft smile on her face. Even when she wasn't speaking, simply looking at her gave one a sense of peace and calm.

"Thank you, Doctor Chen."

Holding the pen, Zhang Xiaomo carefully wrote out the three characters in elegant and well-formed handwriting.

The three characters were: 泽 (Ze), 颜 (Yan), 骏 (Jun).

"Ze, Yan, Jun?" Doctor Chen read them aloud and then smiled as she asked, "Do these three characters hold any special meaning for you?"

Zhang Xiaomo shook her head.

"Think carefully. Perhaps your subconscious remembered them. You might not have noticed unless you consciously recall it." Doctor Chen guided her patiently.

After thinking for two minutes, Zhang Xiaomo still shook her head.

"Alright then, I'll hypnotize you now. Lie down and relax completely. Imagine yourself standing on a vast, boundless grassland."

Zhang Xiaomo lay down again and closed her eyes.

...

The bustling streets filled with vehicles.

A young woman was walking on the sidewalk holding a little girl in her arms. The woman was thin, and after taking a few steps while carrying the child, she began to struggle.

"Ke'er, we've already passed that muddy area. Can you walk on your own now? You're growing up, and Mommy can't hold you anymore."

The little girl wore a red dress, her smooth long hair draping past her shoulders and down her back.

Hearing this, she obediently nodded. As her mother set her down, she spun around in place, lifting the hem of her dress with her hands.

"Mommy, is Ke'er pretty?"

The woman smiled and nodded. "So pretty! Ke'er is the most beautiful today! When we get to the amusement park later, Mommy ordered a birthday cake for you. Would you like to eat it?"

Ke'er smiled sweetly and suddenly beckoned her mother towards her.

The woman bent down, thinking her daughter wanted to share a whisper, but instead, she felt a soft kiss land on her cheek.

"Thank you, Mommy!"

At that moment, the woman, still bent over, suddenly felt a heavy push from behind. She stumbled forward.

Having lost her balance, she lurched forward repeatedly, narrowly avoiding falls each time, until she finally reached a flower bed by the roadside. Grabbing the barrier around it, she managed to steady herself.

The little girl, Ke'er, was startled and cried out, chasing after her mother. Her tiny hands reached out several times but couldn't grab her. It wasn't until her mother found her footing and grabbed onto something that Ke'er caught up and tightly hugged her mother's leg.

"It's okay, it's okay. Mommy's fine."

The woman picked her daughter up and reassured her with a couple of calm words, but suddenly, her eyes widened. She saw a large, out-of-control truck barreling down the road, careening off-course and onto the curb, as pedestrians screamed and fled.

The woman didn't have time to think. Hugging Ke'er tightly, she turned and ran. Behind her, a cacophony of crashes erupted as roadside railings collapsed in succession, stones scattered, and utility poles toppled.

After a violent commotion, dust filled the air. The out-of-control truck finally came to a halt, wedged between a flower bed and a crooked tree.

The woman, panting heavily with Ke'er in her arms, stopped alongside the fleeing crowd. Turning back, she realized the point where the truck had veered onto the curb was exactly where Ke'er had been standing moments ago.

"That was so close... so close..."

She hugged Ke'er tighter, trembling in the aftermath of her terror.

At that moment, Ke'er suddenly turned her head towards a passing advertisement van. Being young and only able to read a few words, she recognized just the last four characters of the tagline.

The four characters read: 祝你好运 (Good luck to you).

Ke'er tilted her head, her face full of curiosity.

"Huh?"

...

"Doctor Chen, is my daughter's condition serious?" Zhang Chengjing asked.

At this time, Zhang Xiaomo was already sitting alone in the waiting area outside the consultation room.

Doctor Chen shook her head. "Not very serious. Xiaomo may have been subjected to some sort of trauma earlier in her life. Her subconscious doesn't want to remember this part of her memory, so it's been suppressed on its own. The fragments of memory she's recalling now are likely bits of what she experienced or witnessed back then. This is why certain people and events feel familiar to her, but she's unable to consciously recall the context of those memories."
