I can rewind time to prevent death

Chapter 494: Strange Speck of Light

This rift, which suddenly appeared, seemed somewhat familiar to Yan Junze.

The pitch-black and inexplicable space inside was like the alternate dimension he had glimpsed the last time, after eliminating the fat worm in the school and investigating its lair.

In the farthest depths of that dark space, faint dots glided ever so slowly, just like those unceasingly roaming unspeakable strangenesses he had seen before.

Swoosh!

An immensely powerful suction force erupted, enveloping Sylvanus. Its entire body trembled violently, and it involuntarily lifted off the ground, suspended in mid-air, dropping the Book of Change from its hand.

Yan Junze caught the book and took a few steps back alongside Lin Yishan, retreating to stand beside Han Yu.

Still holding the pen, he immediately flipped open the pages of the book and began writing anew.

Sylvanus was utterly furious; it was entirely incapable of resisting the inherent power of its own spatial origin.

Its body was rapidly drawn closer to the rift, with half of its form already absorbed by the void.

At that moment, Sylvanus's eyes suddenly brightened, and it shouted sharply, "Yan Junze!"

It had just planted the "Name-Kill" True Word Barrier, and its potency still lingered. Although it had fallen into Yan Junze's trap, it could still use the True Word Barrier to kill this detestable young man.

"What are you saying?"

Yan Junze had just set the pen down. He then turned the inner pages of the Book of Change toward Sylvanus, who hung suspended mid-air, allowing it to see the text clearly.

On the page, a single sentence was written.

[From the moment the spatial rift appeared, all True Word Barriers in this world have been destined to follow True Word Demon Sylvanus into the void, never to exist again.]

"Bastard! Bastard! You damned bastard!" Sylvanus roared madly. "The Book of Change carries my Power of the True Word; it does not belong to you!"

However, Yan Junze could only see its lips moving, its gaze blazing as if it wanted to spew fire, but no sound escaped its mouth anymore.

In the next instant, the raging True Word Demon vanished entirely into darkness, and the eerie rift promptly sealed shut, leaving no trace.

Deprived of the augmentation of the Power of the True Word, the Book of Change immediately dimmed noticeably and was no longer able to float in mid-air.

Yan Junze shoved the Book of Change into Lin Yishan's hands and ordered, "Burn it!"

Han Yu, slumped on the ground, rasped, "Damn it, can I drink water now?"

"You can," Yan Junze nodded.

Then, turning to Lin Yishan, who had taken out a lighter to ignite the pages of the Book of Change, he said, "Fetch some water; Mr. Han Yu is practically dying of thirst."

Lin Yishan nodded, carefully placed the now-burning Book of Change on the ground, propping its spine against the wall to form an internal chamber for faster combustion.

Shortly afterward, the entire ancient tome was ablaze. Lin Yishan found a silver pitcher in a neighboring room, filled it with fresh water, and sprinted back.

Han Yu grabbed the pitcher and gulped down its contents voraciously.

Lin Yishan stole a glance at the Book of Change, now reduced to just its cover and backboard, and his eyes revealed a hint of regret.

A moment later, Kurosawa Tsuyoshi's avatar appeared; the man had just gone to the Royal Mausoleum to rescue the severely injured God of Death, Akira Kamiya.

Soon after, Wu Mayun arrived as well. She bore a significant wound on her abdomen, though it wasn't an external injury. The damage was peculiar, differing from ordinary wounds; with magnetic field detection, one could discern a small black hole still lingering, temporarily unable to heal.

Once they confirmed that the Book of Change had been completely incinerated, the group began their clandestine retreat from the palace.

For them, entering and exiting this place posed no real difficulty.

Approximately half an hour later, everyone returned to the Red Maple Leaf Hotel, though it wasn't a safe place for long.

Soon, they dispersed again. The fearless and darkness-unperturbed Kurosawa Tsuyoshi departed first with the fragile, magnetic-field-sensitive Akira Kamiya. Wu Mayun chose to travel with Han Yu, while Lin Yishan initially planned to accompany Yan Junze.

But Yan Junze advised him to head back to Huaying alone, reasoning that Lin Yishan was already well-acquainted with the Olay Great Capital, having lived there for years, and navigating solo would be more convenient.

As for himself, he intended to return directly to the Void Rift.

After making arrangements and parting ways with Lin Yishan, he entered the hotel's public restroom and activated his return to the void.

Standing within the Void, Yan Junze took a deep breath.

To this moment, the final plan had been fully executed. Although a few mishaps occurred along the way, he had managed to handle them all. The outcome aligned closely with his expectations; the plan was remarkably successful.

Returning now, history had already been altered: everyone who had previously perished was alive again, and the world had not descended into chaos from the omnipresent True Word Barriers. Everything remained as it had been after the strangenesses invaded.

Examining the deathly still void around him, Yan Junze couldn't shake the feeling of an ominous eeriness pervading this space.

But what exact emotion it stirred, he couldn't articulate—it was merely an intuition.

Truth be told, if given a choice, he'd rather never undertake such a Great Rewind again.

After exhaling deeply one more time, he activated the return command.

His vision blurred momentarily, and he found himself standing behind a garbage bin in an alleyway.

The sky was clear and boundless, devoid of any eerie black clouds.

Yan Junze stepped out from behind the garbage bin and walked toward the alley's entrance. Before he even reached the exit, he spotted Zhang Chengjing's car parked on the street.
