I Can Program My Body?

Chapter 168: Grand Assembly

The next day, void warriors, dignitaries, various representatives, and ambitious talents began to flock to Eastdam State.

Among them was Axel, a former member of the Blue Alliance who later became the chancellor of Libra State.

Arriving at the border of Eastdam State, Axel was shocked by the numerous refugee stations accepting people from all around.

"As expected of President Nash! Such magnanimity…"

Though he had heard that Eastdam State was taking in refugees from across the world, seeing it with his own eyes stirred a different feeling.

Knowing he was about to follow such a leader, Axel felt a spark of anticipation.

Presenting his certificates, he smoothly entered the state.

Passing by neat roads with orderly traffic signs, Axel couldn't help but nod in amazement.

It seemed President Nash wasn't just caring for people but also tending to infrastructure.

Along the way, Axel saw various construction projects being developed, as if everything was being rebuilt from scratch.

Unlike other states, the people around him wore clean clothes and had smiles that could brighten the day.

After traveling for hours, it felt like he had arrived in a different world.

If other places were desolate, this one brimmed with prosperity and hope.

Tired from driving, Axel parked on the side of the street to rest.

"Want some snacks?" a street vendor asked, offering the food in his cart.

"Give me some." Axel's eyes lit up when he saw that the snacks were made of natural ingredients.

Even as a chancellor, it was rare for him to eat natural food.

Most of the time, he drank nutrient potions to get through the day.

Even with money, he can only buy synthetic food to go around.

Seeing a variety of snacks he hadn't encountered before, Axel quickly picked out a bunch.

"That's 120 arls."

"Not bad, not expensive."

"Are you here for the assembly?"

"How did you guess?" Axel asked in puzzlement as he munched on his food.

"With President Nash's announcement yesterday, those who came here could only be attracted by the grand assembly."

"You're quite knowledgeable. Can you tell me about your life here?"

Now that he was about to follow a new leader, he should learn as much as possible.

"I used to be a wandering refugee with no roof over my head and no guarantee of food or safety. But after arriving in Eastdam State, I finally have a house, meals, and steady work."

"I don't have to roam aimlessly just to survive anymore. I've even managed to set up a small stall to start saving money."

"You're not joking? How could you change so much in just a few months?"

Though he knew refugees were treated well, the man before him was not only dressed cleanly but also ran a small business.

"The social welfare in Eastdam State is good. If you're willing to work hard, you can achieve anything."

"This business I have is just temporary. Once I earn enough, I can marry a wife…" the vendor said with a smile.

"Quite ambitious! You're great!" Axel gave a thumbs-up.

He, a chancellor, didn't even have a lover, yet this random vendor was already planning a marriage.

Sighing at the fleeting nature of the world, Axel grew more eager for his meeting with the president.

After resting fully while chatting with the vendor, Axel traveled a few more hours and arrived at the gate of Eastdam Hall.

Seeing hundreds of cars heading the same way, Axel felt overwhelmed.

"So many people! Is there even a position left for me?" Axel thought nervously.

Though they were void warriors and chancellors, their positions could vanish in an instant.

A single word from Nash, and they'd have to resign.

As for resisting, Axel didn't think they had that power.

Even the invaders were so terrified they fled in panic. What could mere void warriors do?

Having reached the void warrior realm, they weren't foolish. Knowing Nash was the pioneer of a new era, they wouldn't dare test his strength.

Soon, lining up in the procession of cars, Axel was given a brochure of the event as he maneuvered to park his car.

Seeing that the banquet was scheduled for the evening, he decided to rest for a while.

---

As the sun set and the moon rose in the sky, void warriors, dignitaries, representatives, and talents arrived at Eastdam Hall.

Filled with tables and food, the hall buzzed with activity.

Looking around, Axel quickly found a place to sit and began to wait.

Clutching his nervous heart, he was suddenly drawn to the food.

Looking at the colorful and fragrant banquet spread across the tables, Axel began to eat, easing his nerves and comforting his stomach.

Thinking he was a crude barbarian who didn't know etiquette, the people around him started to leave.

Noticing this, Axel couldn't help but feel embarrassed.

Wasn't he just eating? Why did they look at him with such disgusted expressions?

"Don't mind them. They come from rich families and organizations, they wouldn't know what hunger feels like," a man spoke, walking toward him.

"Who are you?" Axel asked, thinking the face seemed familiar.

"I'm Edward, former captain of the Crimson Squad."

"You're Edward?!"

Edward was once the strongest void warrior on Earth.

Leading a group of void warriors, they even successfully killed a void commander.

Although his power was now concealed, Axel still felt a twinge of fear.

"Don't worry, I come in good faith..."

Thinking of Nash, Edward still couldn't fathom how a man who had barely become a void warrior a year ago was now president of Earth.

Looking at what he achieved in just a year, Edward felt his own life paled in comparison.

"Is that so? Since we're on the same side, then there's no problem," Axel said, quickly calming down upon hearing Edward had no intent to rebel.

Soon, eating to their hearts' content, they turned their attention as the main figure of the celebration finally arrived.

"Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome President Nash Navre!"
