Chapter 135: Vice Chancellor Aquired
"Did your brain get fried? Are you seriously thinking about your score right now?" the invigilator said in disbelief.
"Since I'm alright, I naturally had to ask how I did on the test." Julius replied, brushing off his near-death experience.
"You don't seem confident in your answers…" Unlike the others, Amber began scrutinizing Julius's every movement.
"No, the last part of the test was insane. Who even created such a thing?" Julius sighed.
Remembering those difficult problems, he still felt his mind ache.
"It's only natural. The Chancellor personally created those questions."
"So that's it!"
"Anyway, since you're fine, let's go check your answers."
Inviting Julius, they headed to the assessment site to retrieve his paper.
With all the invigilators in tow, they quickly checked the answers.
"It's… perfect…"
"Hiss—is this what a true prodigy is?!"
"Not bad. You didn't disappoint me."
Amber thought Julius was a mere propaganda created by the Athens Academy. It seemed he had real ability.
Meanwhile, seeing his perfect score, Julius heaved a sigh of relief.
It seemed he hadn't gone rusty after all these months.
"So, did I pass? What position will you assign me?"
One reason Julius wanted to show off his ability was to secure a high position.
He was tired of being a powerless student, unable to act when danger arrived.
He wanted to end the suffering, solve the problems, and elevate Earth's current situation.
To do that, he needed a stepping stone high enough to reach the sky.
"How about becoming the Vice Chancellor of Eastdam State?" Amber eagerly offered.
According to Nash, anyone who scored 70% or higher was eligible to manage the entire state.
With a perfect score, Julius's ability was more than enough.
"Vice Chancellor of the state?"
Hearing the position offered, Julius couldn't help but be shocked.
He thought he would be a city governor at most, or maybe a project manager, he didn't expect he could reach the position of a Vice Chancellor in an instant.
"Are you sure you have the authority to grant this position?" Julius asked in confirmation.
"Naturally~"
"Since you say so, I agree…"
---
Having settled the matter, Julius left a note for his fellow students, then headed to the capital of Eastdam State with Amber.
Along the way, he realized every place had the same desolation.
It wasn't that there were no people, it simply didn't have the buzz other cities had.
"Eastdam State is facing sanctions from the Earth Horizon Alliance. Almost all the shops have closed here," Amber explained.
"Then how do you get by? How do you buy the resources you need?"
No state was self-sustaining enough to close off its borders.
Something or someone always needed to be imported or exported.
"With money, of course. As long as you have money, everything in this world can be solved," Amber said with a smile.
For basic supplies, Nash was willing to pay multiple times the amount.
Using all the arls they had in reserve, Eastdam State didn't lack any supplies.
Although the Arleanians were no longer on the planet, the currency system they left, Arls, hadn't depreciated much.
It was a solid currency used across the Arleanian Civilization.
As long as planetary trading opened up, this currency could be exchanged for many resources.
Already expecting Earth to regain its autonomy soon, the Chancellors weren't foolish enough to ignore money delivered right to their doorstep.
---
Soon, passing through dozens of cities, they arrived at the State Council.
"When can I meet the Chancellor?" Julius asked excitedly.
"Let's wait a bit. The Chancellor is only available at night," Amber replied.
"Oh, then what do I do?"
"I'll take you to review some files about Eastdam State. The Chancellor might ask you questions later."
"Hmm."
Following Amber, they began discussing state affairs, problems, and future prospects of Eastdam State.
---
Late at night, after hours of hunting in the Dark Plane, Nash headed to his office as usual to handle the files.
Just as he was about to enter the Runic Space and leave the rest to the [Autonomous Module System], he heard a knock on the door.
"Come in."
"Chancellor Nash!" Amber saluted.
"What's the matter, Amber?"
"I brought you a talented young man who passed your assessment criteria."
"What criteria?"
"The test you created before. This young man got a perfect score…"
"Oh? Someone got a perfect score on that?"
The test Nash created wasn't simple.
It was based on the test question book he purchased from the Spirit Pavilion.
It was a standard test to assess not only the current ability of an individual but also the potential to be a scientist, the most noble profession in the universe.
Although the test he created was an abbreviated version, perfecting the test without any preparation is almost impossible.
If anyone knew Julius had aced that test, Nash couldn't imagine the chaos it would cause.
Looking at the man beside Amber, Nash motioned for them to sit.
"What's your name?"
"I'm Julius Fey, from Athens Academy. Unfortunately, due to the rebellion, I couldn't finish my studies," Julius said confidently.
"I see. Are you willing to use your talent to help me manage Eastdam State?"
With Julius, Nash could free up another hour of his time!
Although the [Autonomous Module System] handled most of the tasks, Nash still had to review various documents personally.
Hearing Nash's formal invitation, Julius nodded eagerly.
"I'm willing!"
"Good. From now on, you'll be the Vice Chancellor of Eastdam State."
"If you have any problems, ask Amber. Any questions?"
"No."
"Good. Then I'll leave everything to you…"
With a capable helper found, Nash felt like he'd discovered a treasure!
Handing over the responsibilities, Julius needed to manage Eastdam State toward his vision, Nash headed straight to training.
---
Ten days later, in Nash's private room.

"Finally deduced the rest of the red runic program!"
After countless sleepless hours, he had decoded all 2,322 fundamental runic programs working in his body.
At this moment, his control reached perfection.
From every breath of oxygen, every muscle exertion, every beat of his heart, he could now achieve everything without waste.
Like a machine, his movements could attain perfection, each one precise and purposeful.
Of course, none of this would be possible until he updated all his runic systems.
