Chapter 246: World Quest Completed
Victor flinched slightly. Their voices weren't just echoing... they were invading his spirit, like claws scratching at the edge of his soul.
For a split second, it felt like his Void Emperor bloodline was resonating with theirs as though somewhere in their past, a thread connected them.
But he gritted his teeth and pushed more Qi into the formation.
The sealing matrix roared. Runes ignited. Chains of ancient energy wrapped back around the fissure.
And the vision collapsed.
Victor immediately stumbled back, catching his breath.
[ Spiritual Control Broken ]
A systems notification appeared in his life if sight.
"That was pretty scary," Victor muttered before going on to resume fixing the last few seals.
After another three hours passed, Victor Revenant steadied himself at the base of the Hollow Verdant gate, still wrapped in the radiance of golden seals.
A lingering hush filled the air as mythical currents shifted back into harmony.
Then, like a distant gong, a series of system notifications chimed clearly:
> WORLD QUEST COMPLETE
> Title: "Doom's Edge: The Grove of Sealed Fate"
> Duration:** 1 Year → Shortened to 8 Months
> Time Elapsed: 7 Months, 3 Weeks
> Objective: Visit the Hollow Verdant; uncover penultimate failing seal; repair and strengthen final binding

> Quest Complete
A cheer of virtual trumpets sounded before a new banner appeared in the sky:
> ASCENDANT REALM ACHIEVEMENT UNLOCKED
> Complete a World-Ranked Quest ✓
Instantly, Victor's screen flooded with rewards:
> • 500,000 Wisps of Qi

> • New Qi Art: "Poison Ripple" (Tier I)
> • New Dragon Breathing Style: "Skyfire Spiral"
> • Technique Scroll: "Sky Walker Stance"

A world announcement echoed across the realms visible only to players:
> "Congratulations to player Fang Chen for completing Doom's Edge: The Grove of Sealed Fate, a World-Ranked Quest of Legendary Status!"
Crowds of players in Blueflame City were in awe as sparkling digital fireworks swirled overhead.
"A world ranked quest?"
"Only one other player have ever completed a world rank quest!"
"Damn, he must be very powerful like, Rizzlord!"
"Maybe they're even working together,"
"Uhm that won't be possible since Rizzlord is rumored to be in seclusion preparing for ascension..."
The surroundings turned very loud as players couldn't stop talking about what had just happened.
Meanwhile, Victor's let out a long breath of relief.
He had finally completed this quest that had been lingering for nearly a year.
Suddenly, a high volume of qi began gathering around the surroundings in droves.
Victor first paused in concern as winds howled and dust was stirred in the surroundings. At first, he thought some powerful presence was here but then the gathering qi in the surroundings suddenly turned into a circular pool that descended upon him.
<[ Receiving 500,000 Wisps Of Qi... ]>
Victor relaxed upon seeing this notification as qi got absorbed into his avatar like a sponge.
[ Nascent Soul Realm Progress: 17% => 27% ]
Victor watched his Nascent Soul Realm Progress rise and felt a slight sense of gratification.
He closed his eyes briefly to relish the feeling which was why he didn't notice a small back glow at the corner of his line of sight blinking for a few moments before vanishing.
"Sweet smell of success..." Victor muttered with a sigh and then proceeded to turn around.
It was finally time to leave the ancient groves and hopefully never return here.
...
...
Minutes later, Victor was out of the Ancient groves. Elder Mo stepped forward with a look of respect alongside Tarkos.
They could already tell that the deed was done.
"Fang Chen," Elder Mo spoke softly and reverently. "Your endurance and spirit have saved our world."
Victor managed a nod.
He felt physically and spiritually but victory had arrived. And yet… the race wasn't over.
He flexed his fingers and feet briefly. After a moment, he rechecked the system interface:
> ACTIVE QUESTS
> • Return To Lingyun Town
> Duration: One Year
> Time Left: 1 Week, 3 Days
Victor's pulse spiked.
Only ten days remained to complete the second or actualy first one-year quest.
Return to the town where he learnt his first Martial technique.
He dropped to a meditative crouch. Tarkos approached and dropped to one knee alongside him.
"Time is swift," Victor muttered.
"Do you still some unfinished business?" Tarkos had stayed long enough around Victor to under certain things without explanation.
"Yeah I do..."
Vicor pulled out his anchor disk from his storage and stretched it towards Tarkos.
He spoke to Tarkos: "I need you to head to Lingyun Town with my Anchor Disk."
Tarkos stared at it as Victor held it out. "You must reach the designated point in ten days time or less," he said firmly. "You'll make the journey—while I log out. When I get back, I'll use this to get to you."
Tarkos closed his hand around the disk. "Understood," he said with a nod.
Victor rose slowly.
It was time to head back and then log out. He had stayed in game for too long and there was no way he could make the journey to Lingyun Town if he waited till the moment he logged back in to take action.
Now Tarkos would do it in his stead...
"Tell the city Lord that the seals have been successfully reinforced."
...
...
Victor logged out of Ascendant Realms just as a bit of daylight cut through a crack in his curtains.
The red glow of the clock read 4:45 AM.
He felt tired and sleepy but the world waited for no one.
Across the room, Kairo was almost ready. His boots slapped the floor as he readied himself for the routine march to Camp 13.
"You doing okay, man?" Kairo questioned while adjusting the straps on his backpack.
"Yeah," Victor answered, trying to catch his tone. "Long night."
"Alright," Kairo nodded. "See you tonight."
Victor offered a tired grin. His legs obligingly carried him out of the dorm.
---
The man-made lake glistened under the lights of the artificial sky as Victor slipped on a weighted vest.
This was a mandatory addition for this morning's aquatic conditioning. The metal weighed up to three hundred pounds but he welcomed it.
He dove in feet-first with his arms slicing through chilled water. He then kicked in cadence with instructor Vex Rhane watching.
Every few strokes, a hunter-beam(submerged magical sensors) fired narrow streams of light through the water.
The point: learn to dodge underwater because anywhere could be a battle field.
Victor weaved around each beam, edging pools of resistance like a leaf on a rough current.
Tired as he was, he found rhythm.
Each length felt like pushing through thick air.
His arms and legs turned into turbines that propelled him forward with unexpected speed as he spun around underwater, evading shots after shots.
After some time, he reached the other end and jumped out with the others.
"That was quite the last stroke you did," a girl named Maeve, commented. She'd been on a rival squad.
Victor chuckled while swallowing back the taste of blood and salt. "Just trying to survive."
Around him, younger warriors whispered words of praise:
"The B‑rank who beat an S‑ranked… I still can't believe he is in camp 11."
After drying off and returning equipment, Victor attended morning lectures: theoretical explanations of combat applications Mana pressure point targeting.
After the class ended, he headed for yet another warrior lecture in one of the training halls.
Near the sparring mats, a trio of them approached: Jin, a male warrior with flaming-red hair; Muhammad, broad-shouldered melanin warrior with stone-gray eyes; and Lilin, a petite looking female warrior.
"Victor Revenant," Jin started with quiet respect. "Could we spar? Just for form—if that's okay."
"You defeated an S ranker... we're just eager to get pointers..." Muhammad voiced with a soft tone.
Victor nodded. "Let's do it." They respected the unspoken code: no lethal intent, just form, discipline.
He drew a wooden training sword and slipped into a relaxed posture, breathing evenly as he waited for his challengers to make the first move.
Jin lunged while sending out a powerful strike.
Victor took a light step to the side, pivoting on his heel to let Marcus's sword harmlessly pass. In the same motion he flicked his wrist, delivering a light tap to Marcus's shoulder. "Good power," he voiced calmly. "But too predictable."
Jin grunted and grinned while stepping back. "Right. Show me another."
Muhammad was next. He rushed forward with two quick thrusts.
"Storm's Fang," he yelled out while aiming for Victor's torso and then shifting for the thigh.
Victor closed his eyes for a heartbeat, listening to the whoosh of air and the thud of boots.
He swept Muhammad's wrists aside with a single hand, guiding the dual‑strike into the ground. A gentle twist of the elbow brought Muhammad's practice blade across his own chest.
Muhammad stumbled backward with his chest heaving. "How—?"
Victor inclined his head. "Control and connect both attacks as one. You were too sloppy. Instead, channel them as two ends of a single strike."
Muhammad's eyes gleamed with excitement. "Understood." He sheathed his blade and nodded respectfully, eager to drill that lesson later.
Lilin was calm. She waited with her practice blade held casually across her back before whipping it forward in a fluid arc.
"My turn!"

Meanwhile in a different location within Academy grounds...
The artificial sun angled harshly into colored glass hallway lights, past Legion Hall where assistant instructors monitored academy recruits.
The corridor's corner joined to another wing, with emergency lighting instead of daylight.
Derek stood there with an unknown ally beside him, discussing something low. The halllights were practically dimmed by decree.
"The target is the same as before... Victor Revenant…" The voice was coming from the one wearing high-collared robes with their face concealed in darkness.
Derek's face contorted.
