Despite evading the attack, Lilo still took quite the damage.

Boris roared and threw his mighty axe upwards.

His attack connected, but the damage was negligible. "It's like hitting a mountain! What do we do?"

August narrowed his eyes as his staff got enveloped with mana.

"Let's see how strong that barrier really is," he muttered.

He unleashed a barrage of spells:

Thunder Spear, Wind Devastation, and the upgraded Flame Requiem. The combined onslaught struck Malrik's barrier with unrelenting force. Cracks began to form, and the sorcerer's expression shifted from confidence to alarm.

The battlefield fell silent as everyone—players, knights, and NPCs—realized what had just happened.

"He broke the barrier!" a knight shouted with a loud hopeful voice.

Malrik's power had increased since he summoned the weapon so the barrier was a lot harder to break now.

Even Malrik seemed shaken for a moment before his eyes blazed with fury. "You dare?!" he roared while raising the lesser divine weapon.

He swung the blade, sending a massive wave of dark energy hurtling toward August. The attack tore through the ground, carving a trench as it sped toward him.

August conjured Arcane Bastion, his tier 2 shield which glowed with celestial light. The wave of energy crashed against it and the impact sent ripples of force across the battlefield. The shield held for a moment before cracks began to spiderweb across its surface.

"Not good," August muttered before activating Voidstep just as the shield shattered.

He teleported out of harm's way as the residual energy from the attack scorched the ground where he had stood.

Malrik laughed with a thunderous tone. "You're strong, boy. But strength alone will not save you from me."

August regrouped with Lilo, Boris, and Ezran. "We can't stop hammering... Defeating him won't be easy but it's not impossible."

"What now?" Lilo questioned while readying another arrow.

Ezran cast Arcane Tempest which was a swirling vortex of silver energy that engulfed Malrik. It was a spectacular display of power, but the sorcerer shrugged it off. His HP bar barely moved.

"I'm running out of ideas," Ezran admitted as sweat dripped down his face. "We need something—"

"For now, we can only fight..."

August told Lilo, Boris, Ezran, and other players to combine their efforts.

Knights fought valiantly while Sir Verek, the leader of the knights, barked orders.

"Sir Verek!" August called out as he teleported beside the seasoned warrior using Voidstep.

His voice was calm despite the carnage. "We need to coordinate. I can always break his barrier, but we'll need your strongest attack to capitalize."

Verek's eyes turned to August. He nodded while tightening his grip on his massive, rune-carved greatsword. "Understood. Keep him exposed, and I'll strike."

"Let's make it count," August stated before activating Perfect Veil and disappearing into the shadows.

August weaved through the battlefield using Phantom Blitz to teleport between shadow constructs and undead soldiers. Each slash of his daggers left trails of glowing energy, tearing through the constructs and clearing a path toward Malrik.

Once in position, August summoned Thunder Spear and flung it with all his strength. The spear of lightning tore through the air, striking Malrik's barrier with a deafening crack. The barrier wavered and fractured spiderwebs spread across its surface.

"Now!" August shouted.

Verek surged forward with his greatsword raised as fiery runes appeared on its blade.

He activated one of his ultimate skills, Blazing Strike.

The ground beneath him cracked with the force of his swing as he brought the sword down on Malrik's exposed form. The attack connected, sending a wave of fire and steel into the sorcerer.

Malrik roared in rage. "Insects! You think you can harm me?"

The sorcerer retaliated by swinging the lesser divine weapon. A wave of black energy surged outward, obliterating a dozen players and scattering the knights.

August barely managed to avoid the blast, activating Wing Devastation to push himself out of range while slicing through a wave of undead.

Ezran and Lilo worked together to weaken Malrik further. Ezran cast Arcane Tempest, summoning a vortex of silver energy that struck the sorcerer while his barrier was still down and Lilo fired explosive arrows that detonated with fiery force.

At this moment, Malrik reactivated his barrier but August wasn't going to let it stay up.

August vanished and reappeared behind Malrik before activating Nightfang Execution.

A critical hit from his dagger landed on Malrik's barrier. It shattered completely, leaving the sorcerer momentarily vulnerable once more.

"Strike now!" August yelled.

Verek, already in position, activated Heavenly Cleave.

His greatsword glowed with divine energy as he brought it down on Malrik. The attack sent shockwaves across the battlefield, forcing the sorcerer to stagger back.

Malrik growled in anguish. "Enough of this!"

He raised the lesser divine weapon high, gathering powerful energy to its surface.

With a single swing, he unleashed a devastating wave of power that obliterated two-thirds of the battlefield.

Players and knights alike were caught in the powerful blast that sent dust and debris scattering across the surroundings.

Their cries of anguish got lost in the deafening roar of the divine weapon's power.

Despite his speed and agility, August found himself caught in the path of the attack.

He did his best to move, but the energy wave was too fast, too overwhelming. Just as the blast closed in, Sir Verek leaped forward with his greatsword raised...

"Divine Parry!" Verek bellowed while activating one of his most powerful skills.

His sword clashed with the energy wave, slicing through a massive portion of it and redirecting it away from August and the remaining fighters behind.

August was momentarily stunned by the knight's heroism. "Sir Verek…"

The knight turned and a sweat-drenched could be spotted under the helm. "Finish this… for Tagharium."

He had run out of energy.

Before August could respond, Malrik raised his staff, summoning a bolt of dark energy that struck Verek square in the chest.

The knight's armor shattered, and he collapsed as his HP depleted instantly.

His body slowly dissolved into golden particles.

"Sir Varek!" Lilo screamed.

'Damn... Even though he was an NPC he was pretty cool. Too bad,'

August said internally as he turned to Malrik. "You'll pay for that."

August may have said this but he knew the battle was about to get much tougher when Malrik activated a spell that began to regenerate his HP.

And truly things did get tougher.

Malrik began to use the power of the lesser divine weapon more vigorously, demolishing the battlefield even more.

It was even more difficult to get to him compared to earlier.

Whenever August attacked, he'd used the divine weapon to rip through the attack.

It got to a point where August's thunder spear was getting useless because Malrik was now capable of deflecting them.

The battle was getting more hopeless by the second and many players were quitting.

It wasn't necessary to save Tagharium after all, there were numerous kingdoms to continue grinding from.

All of a sudden a system notification appeared before every player that was still present on the battlefield.

[ System Notification: Reinforcement Incoming ]

A deafening roar cut through the chaos, drawing every eye to the sky. A massive flying shadow swooped overhead, and as it descended, the figure riding atop it became clear.

The warrior was clad in shiny silver armor, etched with ancient runes that glowed with red light. His face was partially obscured by a helmet, but his commanding presence was unmistakable.

The dragon he rode was equally earth shattering. It's scales glitterred like molten gold and it's wings were as wide as three large buses combined.

The flapping of it's wings were so powerful that they sent a wave of wind sweeping across the vicinity.

"It's… it's him!" a knight gasped. "The Silver Sentinel! The legendary dragon rider!"

Another system notification appeared at this moment.

"A new powerful NPC? Just like Sir Varek?" Ezran voiced in surprise.

"Actually, more powerful," Boris chipped in from the side.

"Since the NPC knights recognize him, he must be some kind of legend," Lilo was just as astonished.
