Chapter 7: Copy Skill
There was a distance of over 300 meters between Jay's house and his grandfather's, and it took Jay some time to arrive in front of his grandfather's house.
A modest house, slightly larger than Jay's, appeared in front of him.
The house had a front yard of over 100 meters, with a peach tree planted in front of it for shade.
There were several chicken coops and a vegetable garden on the left and right sides of the yard.
And on the front porch of the house, several well-crafted wooden benches served as decoration for visiting guests.
On a bench facing the yard, a middle-aged man in his 60s with farmer-like features was leaning back and smoking a cigarette.
"Grandpa... I've come to visit you!" Jay shouted, greeting his grandfather.
The old man, who was smoking, was startled when he heard a familiar voice.
"Is that you, Jay?" the grandfather asked, shocked and surprised.
"Yes, Grandpa, it's me," Jay replied happily, approaching his grandfather.
Seeing Jay standing before him, the stunned grandfather began to carefully examine his grandson, wanting to see clearly whether it was Jay.
His grandson had been sick and unconscious yesterday. Finally, after observing him for a while, the grandfather breathed a sigh of relief, grateful that it was indeed his grandson, Jay.
"Good...you seem healthy," the grandfather said gratefully, looking at Jay.
"Yes, Grandpa, I'm healed. And now I feel much better than before," Jay replied, sitting next to his grandfather, observing his actions.
"I wouldn't have believed it if I hadn't seen it with my own eyes, when I was with your parents yesterday taking you unconscious to the village doctor.
It's truly a good thing to be young," the grandfather said to Jay, relieved and pleased.
"Yes, being young is good," Jay also agreed with his grandfather's words.
He now deeply realized that after his rebirth and the changes brought by the system, he felt very good.
"Grandpa, these are the fish I caught from the river behind the village. You can eat them tomorrow morning with Uncle and the others." Then Jay handed him some fish he had brought from home.
At first, the grandfather hadn't paid much attention to what his grandson was holding, but now that he smelled the fishy aroma and heard what Jay had said,
Only then did he realize that his grandson had come here to deliver some fish.
But after hearing what his grandson had said, the grandfather was clearly displeased, and he said,
"What are you doing? Haven't you learned from your previous mistakes?!" The grandfather scolded Jay.
And Jay, hearing his grandfather's scolding, realized that he had been too careless.
From his predecessor's memories, he learned that the reason he was reborn in his current body was due to Jay's mischief.
He saw a bird's nest near the rice fields and invited his younger sister, Nining, to help him retrieve some eggs from the nest.
After hearing her older sister's invitation, Nining happily followed her.
However, an accident occurred. Just as Jay was about to retrieve the eggs from the nest, he accidentally fell from a tree.
The tree, which was approximately 5 meters tall, immediately proved disastrous for Jay, who fell. Luckily, he didn't hit the ground directly.
However, as Jay fell, to avoid hitting Nining, who was directly below him, he swerved, ultimately losing consciousness.
Seeing her older sister fall from the tree and become unconscious, Nining cried and screamed. Her voice was soon heard by her grandfather, who was nearby, who immediately took Jay to the village doctor.
And on the way, when he met his parents, his grandfather asked them to hurry up and follow him.
"I'm fine, Grandpa. Look at me now," Jay replied helplessly, immediately jumping in front of his grandfather.
To prove he was fine, after some further explanation, Jay finally managed to convince his grandfather that he was fine.
Afterward, with a feeling of relief, feeling guilty, Jay quickly said goodbye and went home, afraid of his grandfather's continued scolding.
"Then Grandpa, I'm going home now. My parents are waiting for me. Just give my regards to Grandma and the others." He quickly handed the fish to his grandfather and ran out of the yard.
His grandfather, still slightly angry, was stunned and confused by Jay's swift action.
Finally, after seeing Jay's shadow leaving the house, his grandfather came to his senses.
"Oooo... I was left behind by that naughty boy. He sure ran fast... but with that speed, he should be fine.
And there are quite a lot of fish, where did he get them? I'll ask him another time," Grandpa looked in the direction Jay had left and then looked back at the fish he was holding.
"Hey... luckily I thought quickly, otherwise a worse scolding would have made my ears turn red..." Jay was happily relieved to have escaped his grandfather.
And now, as he was walking toward his house, he saw a muscular figure with a strong demeanor in the distance, carrying two rabbits.
Seeing the figure, Jay's eyes brightened and he became excited, knowing that the target he had been searching for was finally right before his eyes.
"Uncle... Uncle Ricky..." Jay happily greeted the figure, who was none other than his second uncle and father's older brother.
(Jay's grandfather had three sons, all of whom were boys. Uncle Hendrick was the eldest son and the leader of Team 1 in their village's work group. Uncle Ricky was a hunter and militia soldier in the village. Jay's father was the third and youngest child in the family.)
"Who's that??? Oh...it's you, Jay...who do you think it is? I just stopped by your house to check on you, but your parents said you've recovered and are on your way to Grandpa's house," the uncle then spoke to Jay.
"Yes, Uncle, I brought some fish for Grandpa and Grandma. Uncle...uncle...have you just come back from hunting?" Jay asked excitedly.
"Yes, I was just checking some traps on the back mountain, and it seems your uncle had quite a lucky streak, hahahhaha..." the uncle happily shared.
"Wow...you're really good, Uncle..." Jay said flatteringly while speaking to the system.
