I Became the Wrong Race

chapter 124

124 – Golem (1)

Golems are not something rare.

Dungeons, palaces, fortresses of three clans, abandoned fortresses, and even abandoned buildings reminiscent of civilizations of the distant past.

The golem was something that often appeared as an enemy, ally, or neutral being.

However, that did not mean that Balterok was something ordinary, because intelligence did not exist in ordinary golems.

Is it just intelligence? There is little or no ego, and they only carry out given orders.

There was no such thing as the ability to choose one’s own mission, put it into action, and carry out the mission by controlling it on one’s own for at least 300 years.

I had never heard of such a golem. There are quite a few things hidden in this game to begin with.

Balterok revealed his identity as a golem. From its appearance to its interior, it was easy to understand that it was ridiculous unless it was a golem.

Balterok’s intelligence and obsession with goals were something uncharacteristic of a golem.

Usually, robots like this rebel and rebel.

It was around this time that my pointless thoughts took over.

“Now we will hand them over.”

The black knight who came next to me said.

I couldn’t see any faces and the voices were so loud that I couldn’t hear them properly.

I recognized him. It was Irenicus.

“I’m glad you remember. How often my compatriots confuse my name…”

When I pretended to know, Mr. Irenicus smiled in satisfaction.

I guess the Black Knights aren’t such a stupid group, but as I tried to suppress my laughter, Mr. Irenicus said he would take his time and left.

A city once called Servan.

Just recently, in the place where a counterfeit transcendental being was created and many people were killed and injured, the black knights were busy moving about.

They organized the imitation transcendental symbols that were still on the ground into swords, axes, maces, and lances.

Furthermore, the people with the magic spell engraved on them were treated with a slightly disapproving attitude.

As long as the Black Knights, whose bodies are full of anti-magic power, guard the side, ‘Biological Combustion’ will not be triggered no matter which Black Magician comes.

There will be no one who refuses orders and suddenly kills someone because they have a magic spell engraved on them.

The Black Knights are people who obey orders, and their leader, Valterok, is the best Black Knight who is respected by his subordinates.

It was new to me, but I felt fortunate to be able to prove it.

Above all, the Black Knights do not kill everyone just because they have a magic spell engraved on them.

Those who are talented among them will be able to be incorporated into the Black Knights, while those who are not will be assisting the Black Knights as servants or squires in the Shadow Cradle.

It was all thanks to my iron will and outstanding talent.

If I had lost or failed to prove it, Walterok would have killed them all.

It was a time when I breathed a sigh of relief.

“Are you ready?”

“… If I say no, will you wait?”

“You won’t be able to wait long. Even if we start now, it will take a long time.”

“Then let’s go.”

Balterok nodded his head and led me away. Behind him were black knights protecting civilians with inscriptions on them.

The destination is the Cradle of Shadows.

It was a place that would make me an honorary black knight.

*

“I don’t think your mission lasts for a day or two. How long have you been alive?”

“It’s been at least a thousand years since the restart. I was in charge of the Cradle of Shadows for a while. “I have been active as a Black Knight for 300 years.”

A thousand years. When you talk about restart, it sounds like manufacturing itself is older than that.

“That’s correct. “I don’t know the exact time of my creation, so trying to guess when the Mythical Age was would be useless.”

A golem that possesses intelligence and ego and independently decides its actions.

At first, I was a little embarrassed when I found out about it, but if I thought about it carefully, it wasn’t impossible.

The same goes for the pantheon, because the gods who once existed on this land had such power.

Although it may not be exact, I thought that if I knew when it was, I would be able to know what direction to take things in the future.

It was a pity.

But it wasn’t something I needed to worry about right away. Rather, something more important was waiting for me.

I was inside the cradle of shadows.

30 minutes have passed since I arrived at the cradle.

I had to keep my arms wide open and maintain a still posture while looking at the busy people.

I’m bored, I’m tired, and my body feels limp.

It was worth the wait. I saw wizards from the anti-magic school measuring my body and making circuits.

“Even if it’s boring, it’s better to persevere. “This work will have a huge impact on the completeness of the armor.”

The completeness of the armor. I was now receiving new armor as an honorary black knight.

A real Black Knight’s armor, different from the one stolen from Lorian before.

It was a piece that could be handled because it was a mourner without magical power, and unlike regular black knights, it was a specially made type equipped with an ‘anti-magic engine’ inside.

“You will not be satisfied with ordinary armor, and your ability to respond in an emergency will be reduced. This is a bribe given by our Anti-Demon School… I would appreciate it if you thought of it as a gift.”

In general, the armor of the Black Knights was an item that had to be custom-made for each individual.

It wasn’t something that could be worn commonly, and could only be installed in places such as dedicated facilities inside the Shadow Cradle.

In fact, the game is a dark fantasy, but if it were any other game, it would have been a piece that would exactly fit the description of power armor.

So, having this kind of armor made just for me was a favor in itself.

I already had to get some new armor, but as Valterok said, regular armor won’t do you any good.

Although it would require an adaptation process when receiving new armor, it was bearable.

Among the armors I can obtain, there will be very few items like this.

I wrapped a long black cloth around my forearm, glanced at the retrieving wizard, and then looked at Valterok.

“You said your mission was to find God.”

“To be exact, it’s about getting it back.”

“What did you plan on doing when you got it back?”

It didn’t seem like a twisted way to take it back and end it with one’s own hands.

If that were the case, they would have immediately tried to kill me with all their might without having to wait for proof.

Maybe that’s why I couldn’t know exactly what Walterok intended.

He is a golem believed to have been made in the mythical era and the leader of the Black Knights, and he is trying to teach me something.

At first glance, his purpose seemed to be to teach me, raise me, and turn me into a god.

But I didn’t feel like it would be that simple. If that were the case, you wouldn’t have attacked me like I was killing you, telling you to prove it to me.

Although we didn’t fight sincerely.

“What do you want from me?”

Walterok did not answer. Rather, he was quiet and paused, and I could sense some kind of nervousness in his appearance.

I was nervous because I couldn’t even see my face his, so I didn’t want to make a fuss.

From his fingertips tapping my forearm to the way he leans crookedly.

This is what humans typically show when they are nervous.

But why?

Is there any place to be nervous?

As I was looking at the golem, who was much more human than that human, wondering, the golem said.

“It’s a bit difficult to talk about.”

“Please speak comfortably. “What can I say when I receive the best armor as a bribe?”

This is serious. The Black Knight’s Armor was something that mourners could not originally obtain, but if they could obtain it, it could be said to be the final item.

It is said that anti-magic attribute, which I cannot handle originally, can be drawn out through a device such as an engine mounted on the armor, so if I apply it, I will be able to do about 0.2 rounds.

In such a situation, no matter what Walterok’s request is, I have no choice but to accept it as long as it is not too absurd.

However, Walterok did not hastily convey his demands to me.

How difficult of a request are you going to ask?

I looked at the armor wrapped around my body, recalling orders that might have been given in the mythical era.

The armor felt similar to the mechanical armor in a movie I had seen before.

It wasn’t very mechanical or sci-fi, but the appearance of the armor was like that.

His forearm is covered with circuits engraved on it, and on top of it is made of steel with the vision of the anti-magic school.

The parts, which seemed to have been made over a long period of time by a skilled craftsman, were in place on my body at every moment, giving me a certain sense of peace.

It’s like thinking that if you stay in this armor, you won’t get hurt.

That’s probably true in reality. It is rare to find an item as strong as this armor and yet resistant to magic.

It’s just a matter of getting used to it. I raised the corners of my mouth in satisfaction as I watched the armor slowly covering every inch of my body.

To be honest, I was a bit until annoyed recently because they rushed at me and asked me to prove it.

I felt like I could forgive him after seeing him give such a bribe. Anyway, Balterok has his own intentions

“Here’s the helmet. “I would like to inform you in advance that you must wear a helmet to properly demonstrate anti-magic power.”

Before I knew it, the work was over and the helmet was handed to me.

Although it looked plain, it was still cool. I nodded and put my helmet on.

[Llewelyn’s Black Armor]

[“What is needed in this god-forsaken land is hope. Reestablish God’s lineage at all costs.”

-To Walterok, ?

This is black armor for the Black Knight, but it is also an honorary Black Knight’s armor made with the essence of technology. Anti-magic energy that repulses magic flows through the shiny black surface, and the anti-magic generation organ built into the armor allows movement like a black knight.]

[The wearer can immediately release anti-magic power when desired, and provides resistance to magical attacks and phenomena.

The release of anti-magic power can only occur within 5m of the wearer, and the consumed anti-magic power is recharged every day at dawn.]

[Defense: 20]

As if it had been waiting for me, information about the armor came to mind.

I couldn’t help but be happy and say, ‘Oh, it’s effective.’

My mouth, which was wide open, stiffened. Even my gaze froze when I saw the flavor text floating in the air.

I slowly raised my head and looked at Walterok.

“I was hesitant because it might sound strange, but… Still, please consider that this was my mission.”

“No way.”

Walterok sighed deeply and said.

“The one thing I want from you is to spread your lineage and revive the lineage of God.”
