Chapter 57.2
Stage 2-26. Night Assault
“They… attacked when it got dark…”
“Understood. No need to talk. Just rest.”
“S-Sorry… he’s… that way…”
He points in the opposite direction from where we came.
The assailant’s escape route.
Ahead lies the command room where Reina is.
“…! Mashiro! One more time!”
“W-What?! Y-Yes!”
Since Mashiro is a target too, I can’t leave her alone.
I carry her again and head toward the command room.
It’ll be fine… seasoned fighters are there. Surely, they’ve already apprehended the intruder.
Convincing myself, I sprint down the hallway and kick open the door.
“Reina! Are you okay…!?”
I’m stunned by what I see.
The room is in shambles, with everyone, including Frone Flone Milfonty, collapsed.
“Ouga-kun! The student council president is missing!”
“…!? What…?!”
“Kyahhhh!”
Before Mashiro’s words register, a scream pierces the air.
I can’t tell which student or teacher is taking Reina, but whoever’s taking Reina is still in the facility.
One thing is clear.
“Damn it, I can’t make it in time by running…!”
“Ouga-kun! Use that thing from the magic battle!”
“…! Right! Do it!”
Understanding her intent, I ensure her skin is shielded by calling forth the battle coat.
“[Wind Upper]!”
The next moment, we’re launched upward toward the facility’s top floor.
“…!”
I break the window with a flying kick and enter.
I’ve cut my arm protecting my face and throat, but it’s minor.
Raising my head, I see a masked, cloaked figure at a door.
This is the kidnapper…
“Where’s Reina?!”
[…]
The black robe remains silent. Not a move.
The figure isn’t carrying Reina.
Which means… through that door they touched.
[…I’ll take you too.]
The low voice targets Mashiro.
Not content with Reina, they want Mashiro as well.
“Not happening. I won’t let you have either.”
“Ouga-kun… is this…?”
“Yeah. Let’s capture them.”
This is the foe who defeated the academy heads. Strong, no doubt.
Given the absence of reinforcements, it’s likely all teachers were defeated.
[…]
It’s just us.
A desperate situation.
…Heh. Interesting.
“You ready, Mashiro?”
“Of course. You’re not escaping.”
[…]
Everyone takes a stance. Silence fills the room.
