Chapter 109.1
Stage 4-16. Before The Date
Today, yet again, is a day for a date.
One might think there’s no sense of tension before the battle with Frone, but we’re not machines.
We’re living humans. If we stay wound up every day, our minds will break first.
In fact, my mindset is that we should enjoy ourselves when we can.
After two days in a row, I’ve come to realize that the girls have been discussing and planning these dates before confessing to me.
I never expected I’d be in a mutual love situation with all of them…
Just like how I tried to convey my feelings before the battle with Frone, they must have been trying to move our relationships forward in their own way.
Mashiro confessed to me, Reina confessed to me… and probably Karen will confess too.
And today’s partner is someone who has already confessed her love to me.
However, it seems she has some preparations in store, so we’re meeting outside.
While looking forward to her surprise, I’ve been kicked out of the room and came to Luludan Workshop to check on the progress.
When I mentioned Yueli’s name at the reception, I was led to a private room where I waited for her while drinking tea.
“Yo, sorry to keep you waiting, boy!”
The person I was waiting for arrived, wearing her usual tank top but this time with work clothes tied around her waist.
Yueli barged in noisily, swinging the door open, and downed her cup of tea in one go.
“Hot!!”
“Calm down.”
“Can’t help it! I’ve been working non-stop on your prosthetic arm since that day, without eating or drinking. If anything, you should be praising me!”
“I’m grateful for that. …So, how’s the progress?”
“That’s it! You came at the perfect time! The first prototype is done! Check it out!”
She snapped her fingers, and the receptionist with a deadpan expression wheeled in a cart covered with a cloth.
It was clear she had gone through a lot to call Yueli out.
“Here it is, the right arm you ordered. Introducing the Dragon Vanisher Mark I!”
“Whoa…!”
What appeared was a sturdy prosthetic arm with a sleek black metal body and red lines running down each side.
The name was terrible, but it looked incredibly cool.
“I don’t know how strong your magic is, so I started by making it with the usual materials for magical tools, without mixing in any magic stones. Even so, I set the durability to a high level.”
Encouraged to try it, I lifted the arm, and it was surprisingly light for its appearance.
“…Honestly, I didn’t expect anything tangible to be ready today.”
“Hehe, what do you think? Impressed?”
“I never underestimated you in the first place.”
“You sure know how to make a girl happy, boy. So, what do you think? I made it lighter than your current arm to preserve speed, based on what you told me. You’re more of a hand-to-hand fighter, right?”
“…This should definitely allow for faster movements. But without weight, there’s a risk the damage from attacks might be reduced.”
“I considered that, so I added iron spikes to the fist. By reducing the contact surface when punching, the force won’t disperse and will hit harder. According to calculations, it should pack more punch than your original arm.”
As proof, she laid out several photos on the table.
They showed the Dragon Vanisher Mark I in action, with a steel plate split cleanly in two.
What surprised me was that despite the incredible force, the Dragon Vanisher in the photos showed no damage at all.
“This is the result of a punch at your normal speed, without magic. Satisfied, boy?”
“More than satisfied. I’m thoroughly impressed.”
“Glad to hear it! When I was given that budget, I knew I had to give it my all!”
I never expected something of this caliber.
Yueli’s skills are truly something else.
It makes me even more curious why her father hasn’t hired her at this workshop.
