I Became My Healer Elf Character

Chapter 109: Blighted Hollow

A girl with fluffy blue and white cat ears ran along a road. Her long blue and white tail swayed behind her. She repeatedly checked her equipment, making sure that it was up to par with the next dungeon.

Syndra thought about the world outside of the game. The game forums of [Gensuba] called to her in her mind. The sudden disappearance of the game's top healer spread on the platform like wildfire, and no one had seen her for several weeks.

The reason Syndra thought about this was she actually partied with the elf girl before. She recalled the girl was named Hikari, and she remembered that the elf always seemed distant or perhaps shy. She'd kept mostly to herself during raids, but nobody suspected that she would stop playing the game altogether. How many healers could even equate to her skill level?

Hikari would out DPS the rangers, yet at the same time, she'd have an absurd healing score for every dungeon conquered. Moreover, there was the dragon NPC that she always brought with her, and that girl was like a player in her own right. Many people called the girl lucky for being able to score such a creature.

Syndra sighed and shook her head. The entrance to the Forest of Titans was ahead, and she'd soon meet her companions outside of a new dungeon. In terms of level, this one was supposed to be a level 800.

It took Syndra so long to get her, but she finally felt the power of endgame content. She dashed between the trees, moving like an acrobat in the wilderness.

Finally, she found her companions crowding around a giant tree. The tree was as thick as a skyscraper, but inside of the roots there was an entrance. Syndra observed the name of the dungeon appearing on her HUD.

Blighted Hollow

The words made Syndra think of a sick tree, but sometimes names couldn't be completely trusted. She shrugged it off, turning her attention back to her companions.

Their guild leader made up the tank of the raiding party. He was a bulky Minotaur with an enormous great axe. His body was not cloaked in much armor, but that was the path he chose. Instead of armor, he used the Minotaur's skin combined with its innate magic protection to become a tank.

Next to him, there was a dark elf. Her gray skin was covered in tattered old robes. However, her dark staff looked just as new as the day it was forged. The black metal ended in the head of a dragon, and there was a small flame sitting there.

Lastly, there was the healer. She was a lamia girl with bright white scales along her body. She didn't use any sort of catalyst to cast, instead channeling the magic directly from her body.

As for Syndra, well, she was the group's scout and assassin. If there were any traps, it would be the cat girl making sure they lived. On her back, she wore a blue bow, and on her side, she had many daggers or other implements for defusing traps.

The guild leader—Mino—greeted her as she arrived. "Syndra, you're late again."

"It's not my fault. I was checking out a lot of the stuff that city had to offer. Its your guys fault for being so gungho about this. I'm pretty sure I'm on time. You guys are just early."

The guild's healer—Slither—shook her head. "No, you are two minutes late. Did you check the time on your HUD?"

"Knowing her, she was probably trying the food," the dark elf—Grey—said. "Syndra is the little glutton of our group after all."

"Whatever," Mino said, looking towards the entrance of the tree. "Let's just get on with conquering this dungeon. My parents are making food, and I don't want to be pulled out of the full dive early."

Syndra nodded along with her leader's request. "The sooner we finish this, the sooner I can start investigating the local plant life."

Grey chuckled and wrapped an arm around Snydra. "Knowing you, you're just going to taste the plants around here or find some beast to eat."

"Grey...You're always teasing me!"

The group proceeded forward and crossed the entrance of the dungeon. The moment they did, a timer appeared on all of their displays.

"Hmm," Mino said, "it looks like this dungeon gives us an hour. For the first clear, let's just focus on the mobs. At the very end, we can kill the bosses and collect their loot, but don't get greedy. We need to map out the floors."

Syndra saluted and took towards the front next to Mino. "Aye, aye, captain!"

The moment they went down into the hollow, they were greeted with a scene they didn't expect. Syndra held her mouth open from the sight of shining crystals gracing the top of the large cave. Pteranosaurs made entirely of crystal flew between the large structures, and the path laid out before them was full of glowing mushrooms.

Moreover, the path was relatively small. It was a long and rocky dirt path with only mushrooms and a few crystals jutting out, but on either side, there were trenches that continued for miles down. The dark holes spelled certain death. Syndra walked to one of the edges and kicked a large rock down.

Her cat ears perked on her head as she enhanced them with magic power.

"[Assassin's Ear]," she chanted, but it took a solid minute for them to pick up the faint sound of splashing water.

Syndra sighed after the fact. "It looks like the environment is going to be a hazard in this place." She pointed her dagger towards the glowing purple mushrooms. "[Poison Detection]."

A small screen greeted her, displaying properties of the mushrooms.

[Blightshroom] – This mushroom is full of poisonous spores. If one walks over them, they can be sure to get disoriented and forget where they were walking.

"It looks like this dungeon has a nasty concept. The spores of those mushrooms can lead you astray and make you fall into the gorge."

Mino nodded after hearing the cat's words. "Everyone buff yourself with some elixir. It looks like the mushrooms will not be our only foes."

As he said that, a large crystal pteranodon swooped down from one of the crystals on the wall. Mino swung his massive arms, chanting a warrior's attack in the same motion.

"[Strength of the Bore]!"

An orange bore seemed to appear above his head as his arms glowed orange. The axe collided with the crystal monster, shattering it to bits. In the next second, it disappeared into pretty little particles.

"You get any cool items?"

Mino nodded. "It seems like this dungeon will be a huge cash out. Each of these crystals are worth a pretty penny. They're enchanter's crystals. The game calls them [Pterasaur Blight Crystal]."

The group continued forwards, until they were walking on a large pink crystal bridge that went straight over the gorge. Of course, it was at this moment when pteranodons began swarming them from all over. The large flying crystal lizards made screeching calls that rang the party's ears. They swooped down towards them, clawing with all of their might.

"Grey!" Mino shouted.

The dark elf nodded. She channeled magic into her large, black dragon staff. "[Flames of the Black Dragon: Fireball]!"

Towards the end of the staff, the glowing fire turned darker until it became a pitch black flame. The fireball lurched forward, colliding with the army of pterasaurs. It exploded, and the black fire spread to each of them, turning them into nothing but crystal particles.

"Syndra!" Mino shouted towards the cat this time.

"I know!"

Syndra raced forwards ahead of the group and activated her spell. [Assassin's Dexterity].

She lurched forwards at incredible speed, completely clearing the large crystal bridge and entering the next room. Her figure clung to the shadows. Though, the sight of this room surprised her. It was a large room with a dark hole in the center, yet along the walls at the edges was a small circular path that was just enough to fit one person.

The cat kin looked down into the hole, and the sight that greeted her was a large crystal beak flying fast towards her.

[Crystal Quetzal: Miniboss]

Level: 750

She didn't have time to read its other stats. Her elbow pressed against something on the wall, and she barely had time to recognize what it was. However, when she did, she wanted to kick herself.

The mushroom pressed into the wall before releasing a puff of purple smoke. The cat girl ingested it before coughing like crazy. She could barely hear the shouts of her guild mates before she was stumbling forwards, falling into the same hole that the quetzal came from.

Before her senses could become completely clouded, Syndra took the bow off of her back and launched the strongest arrow in her arsenal at the monster.

The large blue arrow whistled through the air before colliding with the flying miniboss. An explosion of ice hissed in the cave, but Syndra couldn't keep watching. She fell into an underground lake with a large splash.

Some under water beasts started attacking her, the moment she entered their domain, and it didn't take long before words appeared on her screen.
