I Became an All-round Artist

Chapter 147: The Arrival of 100,000 Art Students at a Single Command

The next day, Qinzhou.

Qinzhou Art Academy started a day earlier than Qizhou. Many cars were parked in front of the school, mostly dropping off new freshmen. Among them, a red car pulled up, and two girls stepped out.

“We’re here,” said the girl on the left. It was Lin Xuan. She opened the trunk and began unloading her sister Lin Yao’s luggage. “Are you sure you want to live on campus? We live pretty close, and it’d be easier for me to help you if you stayed home.”

“There are evening classes for freshmen,” Lin Yao replied. “Living on campus is more convenient.”

Lin Xuan laughed. “Most people try to avoid staying on campus just to dodge the evening classes. You're really going head-on with it. You’re in college now, no need to put so much pressure on yourself.”

“I enjoy studying,” Lin Yao said, helping her sister with the bags.

Lin Xuan chuckled again. “I probably wouldn’t believe that coming from anyone else, but with you, it makes sense. Alright then, stay on campus for your freshman year. When you’re a sophomore, we’ll look at moving off-campus together. Your brother should be back by then.”

“Okay,” Lin Yao agreed.

Casually, Lin Xuan added, “Your brother mentioned wanting to take care of you, but he’s nowhere to be found. I guess he’ll just have to take care of you virtually. Still, being an exchange student is a great opportunity. You should consider it when you’re in your third year.”

Lin Yao simply replied, “Oh.”

Lin Xuan smiled again. She was used to Lin Yao’s personality by now. Out of the three siblings, Lin Xuan and Lin Yao were the most alike, with similar reactions to things, views, and even tastes.

As the sisters dragged their luggage toward the school gate, a student council member was managing registrations. Every new student had to provide their name. When Lin Yao gave hers, the upperclassman registering her suddenly looked up.

“Your name is Lin Yao?” he asked.

“Yes,” Lin Yao replied.

The upperclassman double-checked her information, as if confirming something. “Freshman, art department, Class 1, Lin Yao, 18 years old, from Yun City, right?”

“Is something wrong?” Lin Xuan asked, confused.

The upperclassman smiled, shook his head, and then suddenly turned, shouting toward the crowd, “Senior Zhong! The person you’ve been waiting for is here! This is Lin Yao!”

Lin Xuan and Lin Yao were both stunned.

From afar, about a dozen students rushed over. Leading them was Zhong Yu, who ran up to Lin Yao with a big smile. “You must be Lin Xuan’s sister, Lin Yao! He told us to take good care of you. We’ll help you with your bags!”

Lin Xuan: “…”

Before she could react, the group had already split up the luggage. Zhong Yu grinned and said, “I’ll show you to your dorm. The school provides bedding for all dorm students, and I’ll have one of the senior girls help you pick it up.”

“Hello, Junior Lin Yao!” A girl who Zhong Yu mentioned waved enthusiastically.

Lin Xuan was dumbfounded. “Did Lin Xuan arrange this?”

Zhong Yu nodded enthusiastically. “Yep! He asked us to look after you. Don’t worry, we’ve got this covered. I’ll introduce you to the campus as we go. We’ve got a small forest to the east, a big garden to the west, and an artificial lake up north. We’re all third-year art students, and once you’ve settled in, let me know your class. I know most of the freshman counselors, so I’ll put in a good word. If you need anything, just ask. We upperclassmen have your back.”

Lin Xuan: “…”

She could feel Lin Xuan’s protective influence, but there was something oddly familiar about this scene. It reminded her of how the senior editors at Silver Blue Publishing treated her when she first joined.

Wait… is there a connection?

Lin Xuan’s expression turned suspicious. She couldn’t quite figure out what was going on, but Lin Yao, as always, remained calm, as if everything was completely normal.

From a distance, many students noticed the commotion. Seeing so many upperclassmen fussing over a freshman girl left them puzzled. It couldn’t just be because of her looks—after all, the art school was full of pretty girls, and plenty were just as attractive as Lin Yao. None of them were getting this kind of special treatment, especially from the female seniors.

“…”

Lin Xuan made a long-distance call to Lin Xuan.

Due to the time difference, he had just woken up. When he answered his sister’s call, he explained, “Yeah, I know Zhong Yu. I asked him to look out for Lin Yao. Don’t worry, he’s a good guy.”

“Alright,” Lin Xuan finally relaxed a bit.

Meanwhile, Zhong Yu was still chatting away with Lin Yao, his enthusiasm almost suspicious. “Once you’re settled, you should visit our Painting Society. The big boss of the society is a legend here. Half of the Painting Society are his students.”

Lin Yao asked, “Big boss?”

Zhong Yu grinned. “Your brother.”

Lin Yao nodded thoughtfully.

Zhong Yu exchanged glances with his fellow students, and they all smiled knowingly. Lin Yao’s personality was exactly like her brother’s—calm, composed, and a little mysterious. With Lin Xuan off studying abroad, it was comforting to see his sister share so much in common with him.

What the…?

Lin Xuan couldn’t stay calm any longer. Listening to the way they talked about her brother, she started to wonder if there was something Lin Xuan hadn’t told her. It was almost as if, with just a word, the entire art department had mobilized like an army to protect his sister.

But wasn’t he in the composition department?

Meanwhile, inside the main teaching building of the art department…

In the office of the head professor, Professor Kong An looked surprised as his assistant spoke. “You’re telling me Lin Xuan’s sister is joining our school this year? And she’s in our art department?”

The assistant nodded. “Yes.”

“What’s her name?” Kong An asked.

“Lin Yao,” the assistant replied.

Kong An paced the room for a moment before breaking into a smile. “We couldn’t get Lin Xuan into the art department, but now his sister’s here. I’d say he has a reason to pay more attention to us now, wouldn’t you?”

The assistant stayed silent.

Kong An continued, “The class with the best freshman advisor should be Class 1. Go and make sure Lin Yao is placed there. Talk to the counselor. Actually, I’ll handle it myself. This student is important.”

The assistant nodded.

Kong An chuckled. “If Lin Yao has even half her brother’s talent, I’ll teach her myself. Isn’t it interesting? The brother refused to join our department, but the sister came right to us. It seems Lin Xuan’s connection with our art department isn’t over just yet.”

The assistant: “…”

Obsession really is a powerful thing.
