I Became a Yakuza's Daughter

Chapter 3

Chapter 3: I Became a Yakuza's Daughter (2)

Noa coldly stared at the third-rate thug who had crashed into the wall.

She had only sent one flying, but the shockwave had knocked down the rest of the gangsters.

‘This world is insane.’

There was no way an ordinary high school girl could send a full-grown man flying like that.

Physically, it was impossible.

But this was that kind of world.

The first time Noa felt, ‘Something’s off about this world,’ was when she was around six years old.

At first, she thought she had simply been born as a rich girl in Japan.

But no—she was the daughter of a Yakuza.

And not just any daughter, but the heir who would inherit the organization.

She had thought, ‘At least I won’t have to worry about money, so it’s not bad.’

But the scale of it was just too much.

Japan was a democratic country, just like Korea.

In movies, chaebols ignored laws as if they were nothing, and gangsters like the Yakuza killed people as if it were no big deal.

But as someone who had been a government employee, Noa knew the truth.

No matter how powerful someone was, they couldn’t just do things openly.

Especially in 2022, in the Korea she had lived in, gangsters were nothing more than used car dealers.

And in Japan, the average age of Yakuza members was in their 60s.

The Yakuza were a dying breed.

The year Noa was born in this world was 2025.

Even if the Yakuza still existed, they should have been a small-time operation at best.

"Nice to meet you, Young Miss!"

"What are you doing?"

"I'm sorry for being late! As an apology, I will cut off my pinky right here and now—"

Small-time, my ass.

There were enough Japanese thugs who wanted to join Minamoto to fill a truck.

Politicians bent over backward just to get into her father’s good graces, offering every benefit they could.

And if someone displeased him, they’d be found dead the next morning.

And yet, Minamoto was considered tame.

If the brutal fiction of movies had come to life through Minamoto, then Fujiwara was several levels beyond fantasy.

They controlled 30% of the world’s wealth.

It wasn’t some conspiracy theory like the Rothschilds owning 70% of global wealth—this was official, declared by the head of the Fujiwara family.

In other words, killing a few people on the streets wouldn’t even cause a ripple for them.

Noa looked at the newcomer who was about to cut off his own finger and spoke with a look of disdain.

"If you're going to cut it off, do it somewhere else. You're ruining my appetite."

"I-I apologize! I have no excuse! I will take responsibility—"

"You're not the one who should take responsibility. Your superior should. Stop hiding and come out, Koko. I know you're there."

Noa stared at the van with narrowed eyes.

A woman in the passenger seat let out a small cough before hesitantly stepping out.

She clapped as she watched the thugs being loaded into drums.

"As expected, a clean job. You truly are the future Oyabun of Minamoto."

Her name was Suzuki Kotone.

She carried a katana in broad daylight and was one of Minamoto’s executives.

She was assigned as Noa’s bodyguard purely because she was a woman.

Noa called her Koko, and there was a sad reason behind it.

Even in her past life, Noa had never been good at studying.

She found Kotone’s name too bothersome to remember, so she had simply called her Koko, and the habit had stuck.

"They're still alive, so don’t bury them."

"For attacking the Young Miss, their limbs should be torn apart and—"

Noa frowned deeply.

"Can’t you see we’re about to go eat dessert? Save that talk for when I’m not around."

"My apologies. Please, punish me."

Suzuki immediately fell into a dogeza.

Then she slightly lifted her gaze and blushed.

"You're wearing white again today."

"……."

The Saints Academy uniform was on the shorter side.

Noa stared at her silently before raising her fist.

Bang!

"Let’s go, Chise."

"Oh, y-you're as energetic as ever today, Noa. I'm glad you're healthy."

Suzuki was stuck upside down in the ground.

‘How does she even manage to plant people like that...?’

Chise had seen it countless times, but it never failed to amaze her.

**

"I was really shocked earlier!"

When the thugs appeared, Chise had been worried about Noa.

She was afraid Noa might kill them!

That would have ruined their carefully planned dessert date and completely thrown off Chise’s plans.

"It’s been a while. Things were quiet for some time."

Fujiwara and Minamoto.

Both were famous families, so things like this happened frequently.

The stronger the power, the fewer people should dare to provoke them, but a moth can’t help but fly into a flame.

Since they were always together, if someone actually managed to kidnap them, the rewards would be immense.

Not to mention the money.

Assassination attempts had even come from other countries.

Things had been quiet lately, but now that they had entered high school, it seemed to be starting again.

What a hassle.

"But I feel reassured! Noa will protect me, right? Here, say ah~."

Chise held out a spoonful of cake.

"I can eat on my own."

"You want chocolate, don’t you?"

"No."

"Got it. Just a second."

Chise ate the cake she had just scooped and this time brought a spoonful of chocolate cake to Noa’s mouth.

Despite her words, Noa quietly chewed and swallowed it.

"It’s decent."

"...Was it really that good?"

Chise was slightly surprised.

For reference, ‘It’s not great.’ was Noa’s way of saying something was delicious.

But ‘It’s decent’...?

That was equivalent to a Michelin 7-star review.

"It’s alright."

"That’s great, Noa! Since we go to school now, we’ll be coming here often."

‘Actually, I bought the place.’

Chise was secretly proud of herself.

She had already acquired the best dessert shop near Saints Academy in advance.

She had hired a top-tier chef from England, the homeland of cakes, and arranged for him to work exclusively during the hours Noa would visit.

To secure the best ingredients, she had purchased every piece of land that supplied raw materials.

Since freshness was key, she even arranged for a private jet to transport the ingredients.

Behind the delicious cake was a well-kept secret.

An astronomical amount had been invested, but Chise didn’t regret a single cent.

Noa’s faint smile.

That alone made everything worth it.

Chise felt like she was melting.

But she pulled herself together.

The smile was nice, but wasn’t there something important to do today?

A perfect plan that absolutely had to succeed!

"Noa, why don’t we try dorm life? Just the two of us!"

"Mm."

‘Success!’

Chise barely restrained herself from screaming in excitement.

Noa’s secret.

When she ate something delicious, she would agree to any request.

And she was 50 times cuter than usual!

**

"Chairman, this is the expense report for the Young Miss this month."

Fujiwara Kamatar i read through the documents handed to him by Chise’s secretary.

The total was 500 million dollars. About 500 billion won.

"...Was it Noa’s birthday?"

"No, sir."

"Then?"

"She acquired the dessert shop near Saints Academy."

"That shouldn’t have cost this much."

"She also purchased a new fighter jet and about 30,000 pyeong of land to ensure a stable supply of ingredients."

"That's excessive extravagance."

"What should we do?"

The Fujiwara family's upbringing was extremely strict.

Unlike the Minamoto family, where sheer strength was enough to qualify as head, the Fujiwara controlled the wealth of the world.

A sharp mind was a given.

One also needed to know how to spend money wisely.

Spending a staggering 500 million dollars on mere desserts was difficult to consider a wise use of funds.

Normally, in such a case, Chise’s card would be frozen—

But since Noa spent 300 out of 365 days sleeping over at the Fujiwara estate, he could guess the real reason behind this expenditure.

Chise never ate dessert without Noa.

"It was money well spent."

"…Excuse me?"

However, for the secretary, it was difficult to make such a guess.

"Spending money on Minamoto isn’t a waste, even if it's 1 billion dollars instead of 500 million."

Kamatar i spoke in a quiet voice, his lips curling into a faint smile.

"I hope Noa liked it."

The same went for Minamoto Genji.

To Fujiwara Kamatari, Noa was like a daughter.

**

Noa and Chise were incredibly close.

In a year, they spent more time together than apart.

So, sleeping over at each other's houses wasn’t unusual.

Usually, Noa was the one to visit the Fujiwara estate.

As expected of a Yakuza household, no matter where she went, there were shouts of—

"Oyabun!" "Little Oyabun!" "Young Miss!"—

It was always so noisy.

Today, however, Chise had come to the Minamoto estate.

"You didn’t have to come all the way here."

"No way! I wanted to see Uncle Genji again."

Genji was a man without blood or tears.

Making eye contact with him for too long was a gamble with one’s life.

But to Chise, he was just her best friend’s dad.

The surrounding gang members flinched, their shoulders tensing up.

"If the Fujiwara young lady is visiting, Oyabun will be pleased."

"Are you okay, Suzuki?"

Chise asked with concern, and Suzuki responded shyly.

"I'm a little wet… It’s been a while since Little Oyabun treated me like that."

Noa looked at Suzuki as if she were trash.

"Koko, I think you’d better sleep outside tonight."

"It’s minus 10 degrees tonight."

"Then don’t."

Suzuki, sensing a threat to her life, stopped in her tracks.

"May I at least take a sleeping bag?"

"A Yakuza can’t even handle a bit of cold?"

"I’ll sleep naked."

"Just don’t strip."

"Thank you for your mercy. Then, I shall take my leave."

Noa didn’t even glance back.

Meanwhile, Suzuki really did start heading outside.

Chise laughed awkwardly and thought to herself.

The Minamoto might be like family, but they were truly an unusual clan.

"But still, making her sleep outside in this cold is a bit much, Nocchan."

Chise quickly covered her mouth.

What a slip-up!

Noa absolutely hated when anything was added to her name.

"I should clean the spare room. It’d be best if we slept separately tonight."

Noa’s voice was colder than the minus 10-degree weather.

Chise responded faster than anyone.

"Yakuza are amazing! The freezing streets must feel like tatami mats to them, right? Suzuki must be loving sleeping outside. The, the air is fresh, I’m jealous."

‘I'm so sorry, Suzuki.’

Luckily, she managed to avoid sleeping in separate rooms.
