"I Became a Witch, but Now Everyone's in Love with Me!"

vol. 2 chapter 23 - Chapter 23 Half a Month Later

Chapter # Nоvеlight # 23 Half a Month Later
Cohesion is vital for a small group of witches.
Because once a witch reaches the rank of Great Witch, she has essentially become immortal. With her own ability alone, she can accomplish whatever she wishes.
They are free by nature—fearless, intelligent, capable, and armed with immense power.

They are one of the strongest races across the multiverse. For such beings, forming a team often feels like a handicap rather than a benefit.
It’s like group projects back in school: in most cases, it’s far more efficient to just do it alone.
But that won’t work here.

A thriving organization cannot be built on the back of a single witch. Nor can the development of an entire new branch of magic be carried forward by one genius alone.
It isn’t about ability.
It’s about perspective.
That is why Jiang Cha wanted to give everyone reachable, visible goals, and then let them take off running in their own ways.

Lina could weave Wisdom Magic into her combat style and chase her dream of becoming the first true Raid Witch.
Estelle, Mephisto, and Bai Yu could explore how Wisdom Magic fit into alchemy.
Sarah could fuse it with martial arts to carve out a new path.
And so on, endlessly.
That was the purpose of forming a team. That was the meaning of a magic association.
Every witch’s path and thought process is different. Only when countless witches explore together can a new system of magic grow strong and wide.
The original twelve members of the Witches of Wisdom Society were all geniuses with their own unique roads. The moment they began to seriously think about how to merge Wisdom Magic into their paths, the society finally became something real.

...
Inside the training ground, scales rippled across Lina’s body, her crimson wings blazed with high heat, and her orange-yellow pupils gleamed with icy blue fire.
That was Wisdom Magic: [Thought Overclocking].

Her reaction speed spiked to inhuman levels. Even as a young witch, Lina’s combat instincts had allowed her to fight Sarah to a standstill. Now, with her brain running at triple speed, she was practically overwhelming her.
“The effect is immediate.”
On the sidelines, Jiang Cha leaned lazily against the railing, smiling at Mephisto.

“It really is powerful… this Wisdom Magic.”
The white-haired noble witch gave a slow nod. To watch Lina flip the balance of a duel so decisively with a single auxiliary spell… only then did Mephisto truly accept Wisdom Magic’s place at the top of support systems.
“It feels… overpowered. Can high-level magic really do this much?”

The two on the field weren’t ordinary duelists. They were both five-star transcendents—geniuses among geniuses—each more than capable of crushing two regular forbidden spellcasters.
Mephisto had never imagined that one so-called “support” spell could warp the fight so completely.
Now, at last, Jiang Cha’s so-called “mad ramblings”—auxiliary magic that could reshape witch society—didn’t sound so far-fetched.
It wasn’t a dream.
It was already real.

“Senior, you’ve seen the concept papers for Wisdom Magic.”
Jiang Cha smiled, helpless but patient, and explained softly, “You know it’s essentially leveraged casting. With the Wisdom Elves’ assistance, the burden on the caster isn’t that heavy.”
“In fact, if you look at the magic circle of [Thought Overclocking], it’s practically legendary-class. The inscriptions involved number well over ten thousand.”

“It’s only thanks to the Wisdom Elves that the cost and difficulty of casting are drastically lowered.”
The whole philosophy of the Wisdom School was to exploit the special properties of these elves—borrowing power from the ‘Throne of Wisdom.’
It wasn’t unique, either. Plenty of magics relied on similar “theft”: the legendary necromancy spell [Shadow of Death], which siphoned power from the Throne of Death; or [Great Divination], stealing from the Throne of Destiny.
Wisdom Magic’s advantage lay in one fact: Jiang Cha herself had created the Wisdom Elf species.

“But the weakness is obvious, too.”
On the field, Sarah suddenly shattered Lina’s azure focus orb with a surprise punch. Lina was instantly forced out of her [Overclocked Thinking] state.
Mephisto shook her head. Now she understood why Jiang Cha admitted that the Wisdom School was still unfinished.

The magic tree was lopsided.
Incomplete.
Without legendary spells—or even forbidden-tier ones—to hold up the system.
“Chabao! Hurry up and fix this flaw for me!!!”
Lina came storming out of the training ground, yelling at Jiang Cha.

“No way. It’s only been three years.”
Jiang Cha puffed her cheeks, sighing in mock helplessness. “New magic is under development, under development… Fixing flaws isn’t instant, you know~”
“…Wait. Why am I the only one making new spells even though this is a whole ‘society’? Shouldn’t whoever finds a flaw be the one fixing it?!”

She did have a personal workaround to the elves’ vulnerability to being sniped mid-cast. But it was based on an obscure, unpopular magic—not something Lina could use, nor suitable for wide adoption.
Still, Jiang Cha had been too busy to revisit the issue… until today.
“So what is it, Tea-bao? You counting on me to invent spells, or that stinky black dragon?”

The golden-haired loli tossed her head, acting smug in her role as the “problem child.”
“Senior…”
Jiang Cha glanced around. Lina was useless, Sarah wasn’t much better, and the thought of relying on them made her want to cry. Pitiful eyes turned toward Mephisto.

Her senior sister actually could develop spells.
“…I’m still learning.”
Mephisto shook her head, embarrassed. “Besides, I want to focus on fusing Wisdom Magic with alchemy first… Can’t Annie handle this sort of thing?”

“Annie’s busy too, thinking about how to blend Wisdom Magic with the power of destiny. No time at all.”
“Tea-bao~”
“Yes, yes, fine! I’ll do it, okay?!”

Jiang Cha groaned, long and dramatic. Before anyone else truly dug into Wisdom Magic, it seemed the burden of creating new spells still fell squarely on her shoulders.
“But Lina-chan and Sister Sarah are helping, understood?”
She crossed her arms with a pout. “Developing new magic takes a ton of combat data. You two can at least provide that. So—recommend me a place crawling with enemies.”

“I know one.”
Lina’s eyes lit up, and she didn’t even hesitate.
