Chapter 15 - Difficult Dungeon. (1)
The feeling of facing the first morning inside the dungeon was the worst.
‘I couldn’t even take a breath.’
Beatrice went down the stairs with bleary eyes.
The corridor in chaos yesterday was now quiet, as if nothing had happened.
‘To think Sisilia would come into my room.’
She was so startled when Sisilia suddenly came in.
She happened to be changing clothes, so she had no choice but to salute in her underwear.
The problem was that Sisilia didn’t return the salute and just stared.
Especially at her chest area.
‘How embarrassing…’
Moreover, Sisilia slept in the same bed.
How could she sleep properly with a distant superior lying in the same bed?
Thanks to that, she kept waking up. Sisilia, rubbing her eyes and following next to her, seemed to have slept well.
‘Come to think of it, it’s strange. It’s not like Sisilia is a pervert for staring at me in my underwear for so long.’
Beatrice, thinking maybe, spoke to Sisilia.
“Um, Sisilia?”
Sisilia responded perfectly as usual, as if she had never had sleepy eyes.
“Yes.”
“Do you have something to say to me?”
Sisilia just stared at Beatrice without saying anything.
It seemed she was asking why she thought that, so Beatrice answered with some tension.
“Because you kept staring at me yesterday.”
“No.”
“Pardon?”
“It’s just that my growth stopped in childhood, so my breasts wouldn’t interfere with swinging a sword. These are not fully grown.”
‘W-what are you talking about?’
“Is that so…?”
“I have more potential.”
“I-I see.”
“Beatrice, it would have been nice if you had stopped growing before becoming an adult too.”
‘I see. She stared at my chest so intently yesterday because she was dissatisfied.’
She realized why Sisilia was staring at her chest like that last night.
Sisilia was reprimanding her.
Heavy breasts are only a hindrance for a body that is to become a knight.
“I apologize.”
Beatrice immediately bowed her head.
But she did have a grievance.
Stopping physical growth was only possible for ‘Sword Demon’ level knights.
Not everyone can stop growing at the age of 14 like Sisilia.
“B-but I couldn’t stop at my level yet. Besides, I was already this size at 13, so even if it was possible… Sisilia?”
Sisilia was nowhere to be seen.
**
When they went down to the mansion, everyone was gathered. They all had bad complexions. Sisilia felt some pity and sat in the far corner.
Then she took out the bread she had brought and munched on it.
“I-I think I’m going crazy. I have nightmares, and even when I wake up, I’m in another nightmare. I thought the morning would never come.”
Some trainee knight said in a terrified voice while pulling at his hair.
Sisilia raised her head like a rabbit. And she looked at Beatrice with slight anticipation.
‘Her favorability must have gone up, right?’
This dungeon seemed to inflict a status ailment if you slept.
Sisilia, who noticed that, had protected Beatrice all night. She must have realized it by now.
But…
Swoosh.
Beatrice hurriedly lowered her eyes. She looked afraid.
…Huh?
“We have to get out of here quickly.”
“I can’t take it even one more day. My mind will be ruined.”
Amidst the commotion, Liharton jumped up from his seat.
“Sisilia.”
Sisilia stared blankly while chewing on bread the size of her face.
“At least tell us when the end of this hell is. Everyone’s at their limit.”
Of course, she had no intention of answering.
Rather, she was about to get a bit annoyed. Why don’t they know such an obvious thing?
“S-Sisilia. I’ll ask too.”
But at Beatrice’s words, Sisilia spoke with a generous heart.
“How many rules were there in total?”
“The rules… there were four in total. Don’t tell me…”
Sisilia nodded slightly.
There are four rules. Then the end is in four days.
“T-then we have to stay here for three more days?”
‘How did the story get to that?’
Sisilia genuinely didn’t understand.
It meant to kill the demon within 4 days.
“Did everyone sleep well?”
Then, Ricardo appeared in the dining room.
“Oh my, judging by your expressions, you seem to have trouble sleeping.”
The faces of some knights were colored with anger. But no one stepped forward.
Because they realized how terrifying the consequences of breaking the rules were.
Ricardo licked his lips with his tongue as he looked at their faces.
“Um, Mr. Butler.”
“Yes, guest. Is there something you’re curious about?”
“First, I would like to express my gratitude.”
Beatrice had a tense face. Sisilia looked at her with an interested gaze.
“For allowing us who were lost to stay at this mansion.”
“Ooh-”
Ricardo clapped once and made a moved expression.
Then he bowed his head while swinging his arms in a very exaggerated manner.
“I’m honored that you acknowledge it.”
“But, now that morning has come-”
Gulp, Beatrice swallowed.
“…We will be on our way. It would be rude to stay any longer.”
Ricardo had called them ‘guests’. Looking closely, the ‘rules’ were only things that could naturally be asked of guests.
Then, wouldn’t it be okay to say they’ll leave now as guests?
‘Smart.’
It’s an excellent approach. There were two ways to ‘clear’ a dungeon.
Logic and destruction.
“You are truly a polite person.”
Ricardo pretended to wipe tears while holding his glasses. But no tears were visible.
Demons don’t know how to cry in the first place.
“Yes.”
“…!”
The knights’ eyes widened as if they would tear.
“Personally, I wish guests who came after a long time would stay longer, but I can’t stop you if you say that much.”
“T-then, is that true? Y-you’ll let us out just like that?”
Ricardo smiled brightly.
“Of course. Haha, this is troubling. It’s not like I forcibly detained you… Aren’t you the ones who walked here directly?”
“T-then we’ll leave right now.”
“Yes, take care.”
The knights had a conversation with their eyes.
‘Really? Is it really okay to leave like this?’
Even Beatrice, who came up with the method, felt dubious.
“However.”
Of course, clearing a dungeon with ‘logic’ is not that simple.
“Shouldn’t you pay the ‘price’?”
“…Price?”
“Of course. This is quite an expensive property. Besides, didn’t you receive quite precious treatment yesterday?”
Ricardo’s eyes were glazed with disgust.
“You can’t enjoy such things without any price. Rights always come with responsibilities.”
“W-what nonsense…”
The knight who tried to raise his voice lowered it to speak.
“H-how is that treatment in any way?”
“It is our hospitality. Or are you perhaps disregarding the loyal servants of our mansion?”
Ricardo’s voice was somewhat creepy.
The flustered knight waved his hand.
“That’s not it, but…”
“As long as you pay the price, you can leave anytime.”
“Then what is that price?”
Liharton asked somewhat calmly.
Ricardo looked at Liharton and smiled quietly.
“Naturally, the lodging fee, right? You stayed for a day, so you just need to pay that much.”
“I’ll pay any amount of money.”
Liharton took out a gold pouch from his bosom. The others did the same.
Quite a large number of pouches were placed on the table.
“Great. Then, I’ll just take the lodging fee and return the rest.”
Ricardo approached the table in a relaxed manner. He took out a pouch and looked inside.
“Hmm.”
“… Don’t tell me it’s not enough?”
“Hahaha!”
Ricardo laughed briefly. It was as if he was mocking them.
“What meaning does human money have to me that you’re paying with this?”
Liharton blocked the mouth of the agitated knight.
“…We don’t have demon currency. Is there no other way?”
“Of course there is. If you don’t have money, you just need to give something of equal value, don’t you?”
Ricardo spun around as if he was happy.
“Fortunately, everyone here has what I want.”
Ricardo’s smile gradually became cruel.
“Heart.”
“…!”
“If you pay with just one heart as a day’s lodging fee, I’ll let everyone go.”
In effect, he was telling them to sacrifice one person.
Everyone stiffened.
Conflict could be seen on their faces.
However, the conflict on Sisilia’s face seemed to be slightly different.
‘It would be interesting to wait for the cute newbie’s answer, but.’
What answer will Beatrice come up with? It’s true that she was very curious and excited.
‘If it ends there, it’s just barely…’
The corners of Sisilia’s mouth lifted slightly. Actually, that would be enough.
If she was a ‘real newbie.’
‘The qualification to surpass the limit and join the Knights requires more than that.’
It seemed time to give a hint.
“Then,”
Sisilia opened her mouth in a calm tone, dropping the bread she was eating.
Feeling everyone’s gaze, she spoke while looking at the perplexed Ricardo.
“You’re saying we can use your heart too.”
Ricardo’s eyes were instantly stained with fear.
On the other hand, it blazed with hope for the knights.
Sisilia immediately shattered that hope.
“Joking.”
‘Hmm. Did I give too many hints?’
Sisilia ate the bread again.
It was like tempting students with the answer sheet.
‘I’m a generous teacher indeed.’
