I Became a Magic Warrior in my Second Life

Chapter 17: Chapter 17

"I'm already aware that you use knives from your training. But are you sure with them? The enemies are monsters. According to other warriors here, they said that your fighting style is for human opponents instead of for monsters. Can you do it?" Bob asked.

"Hmm… you're right. What kind of monsters are there inside this dungeon?" I asked him back.

"I can't tell you. Just think that this is the first time someone attempted to clear a dungeon," Bob said.

"Then I don't have any choice other than picking the weapon I'm most confident in, right? There's no need to ask me then. Let's just go now," I said.

A dungeon. A place where monsters came from.

No one knows if those dungeons connected to another location or it's entirely it's in another world. What I mean is that each dungeon could probably be their own world. So the monsters in a dungeon don't know anything about other things that don't exist in their dungeon.

Dungeon each has a Dungeon Core inside that are being protected by the Dungeon Boss. Once you destroy the Dungeon Core, the Dungeon will be gone. If you don't destroy the core, even after you killed the Dungeon Boss, even the Dungeon Boss will come back again from out of nowhere.

This is how guild exploits dungeons. After everything from inside the dungeon are taken, only then will they destroy the Dungeon Core or take the Dungeon Core away so someone can use them to awaken their class.

"Bob. If I clear this dungeon, can I bring the Dungeon Core back?" I asked.

"Sure. But not all Dungeon Cores can be taken away. Some are integrated with the dungeon. Which means that they can't be taken out and can only be destroyed. If it can be taken out, then you can bring it with you. You want to use that core to awaken your sister's class?" Bob asked.

"And my father as well. He has no interest in awakening his class simply because it's too expensive. But if I have a core, then he doesn't need to pay for it," I said.

No wonder taking the awakening exam is expensive. Because of the rarity of the Dungeon Cores that can be taken out of the Dungeon instead of destroyed.

Even then, you can't just awaken your class on your own with the Dungeon Core you found. Because the association might consider you as a Villain simply for that reason. Owning a Dungeon Core without permission from the association.

Bob explained how corrupt the association is and for them to let some rich people monopolized several Dungeon Cores for themselves even though it's illegal. So even if I find one, it's not like I can use them to awaken Reina's class.

I guess I need to get some money to do that if I want Reina to awaken early.

"Then can I get everything here for myself?" I asked.

"Sure. We have excavated as much as possible as soon as we found this Dungeon. It should be the time that several monsters spawned back to the Dungeon after they were killed. Including the dungeon Boss. So you can take as much as you can carry," Bob said.

As much as I can carry? I guess the monsters here don't drop much items then.

Once monsters died, they will disappear. Leaving behind some drop items where they died. Even the weapons they use are considered as part of them. So the weapons will also disappear after the monster dies.

Monsters even drop coins that we now use as our currency. We call the currency here as Gol. Because its color is gold, but only a small part of it are actual gold.

For Bob to tell me that I can fight on my own, I guess the Dungeon that I'm going to enter only has weak monsters. Maybe the slum has other Dungeons other than this one somewhere in other abandoned buildings. And they are the source of money that they use here as the fund for their information guild.

Whatever. I don't need to know that for now. I just need experience. That's all.

The portal in front of me seems like a window that leads to an empty space. I can't see through what's inside from here. But when I enter, the view changed. I look back at the portal I just entered and it looks just like before when I'm looking at the portal. I can't see the place I was just before.

This is magic I guess. If it can't be explained, then the people here just call them magic. Simple.

Now it's time to check my surrounding. With two knives in my hands I look around.

"It looks like a maze. It's dark but I can still see well because of the torches on the wall," I said.

"Those torches somehow can't be taken out of the Dungeon. They are stuck there. Even powerful warriors and magicians tried to get them because how useful they are. The flame won't die because of rain and won't burn your hand even if you touch them. But they're still hot," Bob explained about the dungeon.

I listened to him explaining about everything. Other than some Magic Crystal that can be used as fuel, other things integrated with the dungeon can't be taken out.

You can bring back items you get from a treasure chest, but you can't take the treasure chest. Something like that.

But for Magic Crystal growing from the wall, you can destroy the stone wall to bring them back. But other seemingly even more normal stone wall can't be destroyed even if you attack them. Even monsters can't do anything about them.

Bob explained as I start walking. This place is like a maze. And so far, there's only one path I can take. So I just follow through the path.

Finally, I can see monsters. They will be the first monsters I will fight.

There are five creatures shorter than me walking around with two legs carrying a weapon each. They have swords that are longer than my knives.

They are green and ugly. They must be goblins.

Of course in this modern era, we can learn about monsters from the internet. Real monsters that exist. Not fictional monster. Though since anime exist, there are sites for learning about fictional monsters.

I have checked the site about monsters long before I awakened my class. So I kind of know all the known monsters that exist and have been researched.

"Five of them. I think that's too much for you," Bob said.

"No. Five is okay."

If the things I learned about goblins are right, then there's no need to be afraid of them.

I have fought while being surrounded by ten or more enemies. And I ended up winning. That was in my past life.

They're just goblins. The information about them says that they are only as strong as ordinary humans. The worst thing about them is their number. If they outnumber you, escape.

I should be escaping since it's five against one. But I don't feel like I will lose.

With Bob watching from behind, I approach the five goblins calmly. And the goblins who finally noticed me instantly showed their hostility and are going to attack me.

I don't raise my knives in a fight. I hold them with my arms still down and just the knives pointed forward. This is how I fight.

When they get closer, I simply pushed my right hand forward. They are short. So just a push and my knife already pierced the throat of one of the goblins. Then I quickly pulled my hand back and use my other knife to stab another goblin.

Two goblins down. Then the other three swung their swords wildly. But their attacks are predictable so I can easily dodge them and gave a counter attack. Killing another one.

I haven't even used Enchant magic. So it's best to use it now to see how good my knives will be in cutting flesh and bones.

"Enchant."

I use the simple Enchant magic to make my knives sharper. With just a light swing and my knife can cut the skull of a goblin. It's sharp, but the durability of the knife is bad. So the knife is chipped.

"Damn. These knives are bad," I said while stabbing the last goblin in the chest.

Five goblins dead. My knives are covered with blood. But at the same time the goblins disappeared, the blood in my knives also disappeared. Even the smell is no longer there. So magical.

"Oh, they left behind some coins and Magic Crystal."

On the ground where the corpses of the goblins were, coins and Magic Crystal appeared. They are the drop items from the goblins.

The Magic Crystals are small. And the coins are not much. I guess killing goblins won't give much profit.

But I'm still happy. I can finally use everything I learned to kill. And I don't have to be a bad guy to kill. I can kill while still be a good guy. This world is great.

"…How are you so good at fighting?" Bob asked.

"It's the unspeakable," I said.

Every time Bob asked something he's curious about but I can't answer because of the restriction from the curse, I only say that it's the unspeakable. And that alone made him understands and stopped asking.

"You really have to tell me everything once you remove that curse from your soul," Bob said.

"Sure. Just wait patiently."
