Chapter 50: That Woman is No Ordinary Person
Chapter 50: That Woman is No Ordinary Person
“Don’t worry, I know exactly what your strength is like. After all, you’re the only disciple I’ve personally trained. As for the other contestants, I got a brief understanding of their abilities just now. They pose no threat to you; the only one you need to be careful of is that one.”
Aierjisi’s gaze shifted to the woman who had been resting with her eyes closed against the wall since a while ago. The long spear wrapped in coarse cloth beside her was probably her weapon.
At a glance, Aierjisi recognized that this woman was not someone to be underestimated. It seemed that in this gladiatorial competition, Yake would face only one real obstacle—this woman.
As for the others, they were nothing but decorations. With their abilities, Yake could easily bring them down.
“Are you sure? That woman doesn’t look very strong to me.”
Yake followed the Little Princess’s gaze and looked at the woman. Could she really be the only one who could threaten him? It seemed unlikely.
“No. I’ve told you before, appearances can be deceiving. That woman’s strength is definitely not inferior to yours.”
Aierjisi continued to watch the woman, sensing a terrifying depth hidden beneath her calm exterior. There was a chance that Yake could lose to her.
“Hey, little girl. Are you also competing in this gladiatorial contest?”
Soon, the other contestants noticed the woman. Perhaps because she appeared too delicate, they thought to see if they could just convince her to withdraw before the competition began. Once they entered the arena, they wouldn’t hold back just because she was a woman. Everyone would fight hard.
“Yes. What’s it to you?”
Upon hearing someone speak to her, the woman finally opened her eyes to look at them.
“Little sister, we suggest you withdraw before the match starts. After all, once the match begins, no one will show mercy just because you’re a woman.”
“No need.”
The woman simply dismissed the two men’s ‘kindness’ with those three words.
“Ah? What did you just say?”
The men acted as if they hadn’t heard her. They wanted her to repeat her words.
“I said, no need. Instead of worrying about me, you should be concerned about whether you can make it to the finals.”
“You damn woman, how dare you look down on us brothers?”
Clearly offended by the woman’s attitude, the two brothers decided to take action now.
“Hey, what are you two doing? The competition hasn’t started, and fighting between contestants is prohibited.”
The staff at the gladiatorial arena noticed the commotion and yelled at them to stop.
“Tch. You just saved your life.”
Under the staff’s reprimand, the two men had no choice but to withdraw their hands from their weapons and move away from the woman.
“Those two fools really saved their lives today.”
Aierjisi quietly cursed the two clueless idiots as she watched the entire event unfold. If those two had really fought, they would have been taken out by that woman in an instant.
“Mm?”
Noticing that Aierjisi had been staring at her, the woman shifted her gaze to Aierjisi.
“Mm? You noticed me, huh?”
Seeing the woman looking her way, Aierjisi simply waved her hand in a friendly manner and turned back to continue her conversation with Yake.
【Is that girl also a contestant? If so, she might be my only obstacle.】
The woman watched Aierjisi, sensing the terrifying strength emanating from her. As for the man beside her, his abilities exceeded those of the other contestants, but still fell short compared to hers. It didn’t seem like much to worry about.
“Hello, could you tell me if that child is also a contestant?”
Taking advantage of a brief moment before the competition began, the woman approached a nearby staff member.
“Eh? You mean that blonde girl? She’s not a contestant. The boy next to her is.”
“Okay, thank you.”
Hearing the staff’s explanation, the woman finally relaxed. The girl was not a contestant, so the championship was surely hers.
“Attention contestants, the competition is about to start. Please proceed to the waiting room to draw your opponents.”
After the announcement, the contestants waiting outside began to follow the staff’s instructions to the waiting room.
“Go, Yake, I’ll be watching your battle from the audience!”
Aierjisi urged him to hurry and catch up with the other contestants.
“Easy for you to say! You bring me here and make me fight while you sit back and watch!”
Yake turned to Aierjisi, complaining as he followed the other contestants into the waiting room.
“There are a total of 16 contestants for this tournament. Remember your numbers and those of your opponents as we will begin drawing for your battle matchups.”
As the staff operated the magic device to select the upcoming battle opponents, the first match was drawn:
“The first fight: Number 16 vs. Number 5.”
“Of course it’s me first…”
Yake stared at his number 16, surprised that he was up for the first match.
“Who is Number 5 again?”
Curious, Yake turned his head to see who his opponent was.
“16? You’re unlucky, you’re up against me in the first match. Looks like you’ll be the first eliminated contestant in this fight.”
Number 5 was the younger brother of the two who had harassed the woman earlier.
“Ah… please go easy on me, I don’t want to die in the gladiatorial arena!”
“Don’t worry. I’ll pull my punches, I won’t take your life.”
Number 5 playfully ran his hand through his oily hair, surprised to find himself up against such a scrawny kid. It looked like he could easily advance in the first round.
“Next up, the second match: Number 14 vs. Number 4.”
The staff then drew the numbers for the second fight.
“14 and 4, which two are they?”
Yake curiously tilted his head, eager to see who these two contestants were. However, when he caught sight of them, his breath hitched.
Number 14 was the woman with the spear that Aierjisi had warned him about.
Number 4 was the elder brother of the pair who had earlier harassed her.
