Chapter 42: Moving into the City Lord’s Mansion
“Wait until you get there, and you’ll know. That place is somewhere you’ve been before.”
Yin didn’t answer the Little Princess’s question. Instead, she urged them to get on the carriage with her.
“Hmph. Even at this point, you’re still being mysterious. Seriously, whatever. I’m broad-minded and won’t hold it against you this time. Yake, let’s go, get in the carriage.”
“Okay… I hope this time we can find a place to stay. I’m at my limit.”
Yake was fed up with the Little Princess and Yin’s antics; he just wanted a place to sleep peacefully for a bit. After a day without rest, and with the trouble they had encountered at night, it was simply torture for his sanity.
“Don’t worry, I’m quite confident about that place. After all, I frequent it a lot.”
Yin hopped into the carriage and spoke a few words with the driver, instructing him to hurry to their destination.
Ten minutes later…
“Alright, we’re here. This is the resting place I prepared for you.”
“Finally! I was getting a bit overwhelmed myself. Let’s see what this is…”
Hearing Yin say they had arrived, Aierjisi stepped down from the carriage to see where they ended up. Upon seeing the building before her, she fell silent.
“This is the City Lord’s Mansion! Why have you brought us here?”
Recognizing the familiar structure, the Little Princess exclaimed its name.
“That’s right. The resting place I have prepared for you is this City Lord’s Mansion. Inside this mansion, there are facilities specifically for staff to rest. You can spend the night here without a problem.”
“Is it really okay to stay here for a night? The City Lord won’t mind, will he?”
Recalling her shallow acquaintance with the City Lord, Aierjisi wondered if he would have a significant objection to their sudden stay in his grand mansion.
“Rest assured, the City Lord is quite broad-minded. Staying here for one night is absolutely fine. No, don’t worry, even if you stayed here for a long time, he wouldn’t have an issue. Let’s go.”
“Ah…”
Watching Yin already move toward the City Lord’s Mansion, Aierjisi hesitated for a moment before following in her footsteps.
“Hey, wait a second, where’s Yake? Where did he go? He’s not still in the carriage, is he?”
The Little Princess dashed back to the carriage, only to find Yake had fallen asleep leaning against it. This maid was truly useless; he had dozed off so easily! Oh well, considering he had accompanied her around all day, she decided to forgive him for this little oversight.
Grabbing Yake’s hand, she lifted him onto her shoulder and walked into the City Lord’s Mansion.
“Welcome back. Lady Yin, is there anything you require assistance with this time?”
As soon as they stepped into the mansion’s hall, a waiting Artificial Maid approached to offer help.
“Is the Rest Room currently in use?”
“No, most staff have already finished for the day, and the City Lord has his own dedicated resting room.”
The maid reported the current status of the premises to Yin.
“Good. If it’s not in use, please guide these two to the Rest Room. They’ll be staying here for the night. Also, if they need anything, please try your best to accommodate them.”
Yin pointed to the Little Princess, who was still carrying Yake.
“Understood. I will take them to the Rest Room.”
The maid nodded and turned to lead the Little Princess and Yake.
“Hello! Do you need any assistance? It looks quite strenuous carrying that man; would you like me to help?”
“Huh? You want to take him? Then go ahead!”
Carrying Yake was indeed a bit taxing for Aierjisi. However, since someone was willing to share the burden, she gladly handed him over.
“Alright, I understand.”
The maid grabbed Yake’s wrist, easily lifting him onto her shoulder.
“Please follow me. Lady Yin has instructed me to take you to the Rest Room.”
“Ah… okay, thank you.”
“You’re welcome! It’s our duty. Please, come with me.”
The maid turned and led Yake up the stairs, with the Little Princess following close behind.
“Here we are, this is the Rest Room. I hope you both can rest well tonight. Is there anything else you need?”
Once inside the Rest Room, the maid gently laid Yake down on the sofa.
“Um? Is there a foldable bed available? A single sofa doesn’t seem sufficient for both of us.”
Looking at the sofa’s size, it would be enough for one person, but not quite for two.
“Understood, I will prepare a bed for you right away. Please wait a moment.”
Knowing the Little Princess’s need, the maid turned and left the Rest Room. Not long after, she returned with another maid carrying a bed.
“The resting bed you requested is ready. Is there anything else you need?”
“Not for now, ah, if possible, may I ask if there’s a place to take a bath?”
Seeing her somewhat dirty feet, the Little Princess, being a bit of a clean freak, could hardly bear it and needed to wash them before anything else.
“Yes, there is a public bathhouse in the City Lord’s Mansion. If you need to take a bath right away, I can take you there.”
Since the moment she was created, the maid had been thoroughly programmed with all the information about the City Lord’s Mansion, so she was very familiar with the place.
“Okay. Just a moment, I’ll wake this guy up.”
Aierjisi walked over to Yake and shook him gently.
“Yake, Yake. Wake up! We’ve arrived at the Rest Room. Get up and wash yourself before you sleep. You can’t just sleep dirty like this!”
Still shaking him, the Little Princess fussed over Yake as if she were his mother.
“Uh? Alright, alright. Stop shaking; I’ll get up, I’ll get up! Ah… what time is it now?”
Being shaken like this, Yake couldn’t continue sleeping and reluctantly crawled up from the sofa.
“Not sure, but it should still be a while until we need to leave the carriage. Let’s hurry and take a hot bath while there’s time. They have a public bathhouse here.”
“Alright, let’s go then.”
“Um. Sorry to trouble you, please lead the way.”
Aierjisi turned to the maid, who had been on standby.
“It’s no trouble. Leading guests to the City Lord’s Mansion is our purpose. Please follow me.”
