Chapter 26: No One Wants to Fight, So Just Shark Everyone!
Chapter 26: No One Wants to Fight, So Just Shark Everyone!
After effortlessly dealing with those three clueless fools, three star-shaped crystals on Aelgiss’s bracelet lit up. It seems this is how they keep track of how many participants you’ve taken down.
“Just two more to go.”
To successfully pass this test, at least five opponents needed to be defeated. Aelgiss scanned her surroundings, searching for other “prey” to hunt down to clear this assessment.
Maybe because Aelgiss just wiped out those three directly, the other would-be challengers who thought this little girl would be an easy target started to slink away. After all, everyone here aimed to become a fully-fledged Adventurer. Who would willingly challenge an obviously unbeatable opponent?
[It looks like no one wants to fight her.]
Yake watched the situation below, shrugging helplessly. He wasn’t sure what this little princess would do next to turn the tables.
And indeed, to break the stalemate of no one wanting to fight her, Aelgiss decided to unleash a massive AoE attack to deal with this gang in one fell swoop. As long as she defeated at least five people, it didn’t matter if she went over the limit.
No sooner said than done. Aelgiss raised her right hand, concentrating the Fire and Lightning elements together, forming a giant fireball surrounded by crackling lightning.
Naturally, this spectacle attracted everyone else’s attention. They were all equally shocked by the power displayed by this little princess. How could a girl like her conjure such a fireball in such a short time?
Of course, shock aside, that big fireball was aimed at everyone present. If they didn’t take proper measures, everyone would surely suffer significant damage. Some people had already fled before the attack even began.
“Fate is in the number of hits!”
Aelgiss shouted something even she didn’t understand and smashed the fireball down toward the ground.
“Run!”
Someone shouted to retreat. Those entangled in combat instantly abandoned their fights and scattered in all directions, eager to evade the impending doom of that fireball.
“Whoa!”
Unfortunately, the speed of the fireball’s descent was much faster than their escape. In the blink of an eye, it landed, engulfing those who hadn’t retreated in time.
[What is this little princess doing?! We told her to keep a low profile and avoid exposure!]
Watching Aelgiss execute this “heavenly justice,” Yake frantically tugged at his hair. With this stunt, she was bound to stir up a massive uproar. How on earth was he supposed to handle this situation afterward?
Meanwhile, Aelgiss was blissfully unaware that Yake was suffering a headache over her actions. Satisfied with the chaos she caused in the testing ground, she nodded approvingly and looked at her bracelet. Unsurprisingly, the five star crystals had all lit up, indicating she had successfully passed the assessment.
“Hey, since all five crystals are lit, I can move on to the next assessment, right?”
Ignoring the groans of the other participants who lay on the ground after her fireball debacle, Aelgiss inquired at the corner where Yedatao was hiding if she could proceed to the next round.
“Ah? Yes, yes, of course, this way please.”
Yedatao was equally spooked by Aelgiss’s earlier display. As a staff member of the Guild, it was the first time he had witnessed such a powerful participant. Typically, the strong ones like her were educated elites from the capital city. And she was the only one with such strength in this border small town.
Ultimately, under Yedatao’s guidance, Aelgiss entered another room. Three individuals were already waiting for the participants to arrive.
Presumably, this should be the venue for the third assessment. If her guess was correct, the rules here would involve battling any one of those three and emerging victorious.
“Please wait here for a moment.”
Yedatao said this to Aelgiss before hurrying to the elderly gentleman on the far left, whispering about the little girl’s earlier antics in the testing area.
“Mm? Are you sure?”
After listening to Yedatao, the old man frowned in doubt about the credibility of what he was saying.
“Absolutely! That girl really made mincemeat of everyone just now. What do you think? Should we just let her pass?”
Considering the display of power Aelgiss had just shown, she had more than enough qualifications to be an Adventurer. There was no need for her to partake in this third assessment; she could pass directly!
“Hmph, then let’s see how strong she really is. You two stand down.”
The old man was still somewhat skeptical. He ordered the other two to step back and approached Aelgiss alone.
“State your name, participant.”
Out of courtesy and habit, the old man asked for her name before the battle commenced.
“My name is Aelgiss Platin.”
Aelgiss promptly introduced herself.
“Aelgiss, huh… that name sounds somewhat familiar. Anyway, I’m Bechler, the examiner for the third assessment of your Adventurer qualification.”
Bechler introduced himself to Aelgiss.
“Oh… then, Mr. Examiner, may I ask what this third assessment entails?”
Aelgiss was more interested in the details of the third assessment than in what this old man was called.
“The content of the third assessment is simple; you just need to defeat me.”
As expected, the contents of the third assessment were just as Aelgiss had guessed. To pass this assessment, it wasn’t necessary to defeat an examiner. Moreover, it just so happened that she was up against the eldest of the three examiners—considering the common notion that older individuals tend to be stronger, Bechler was probably the strongest among them.
“Well then, I won’t hold back. Just to warn you, I’m incredibly strong!”
Aelgiss posed herself, ready to seize an opportunity to strike when the battle began.
