Chapter 23: New Weapon
Chapter 23: New Weapon
“Miss, are you really okay with making that promise with her? If she succeeds, you’ll have to become her companion, right? Weren’t you just complaining about how weak she is?”
After Aierjisi left, Yaser whispered to Weirafiya about the agreement that just took place.
“What’s wrong with that? If they can successfully complete this task, it means they’re trustworthy allies. But if they can’t even handle this, then they’re clearly not worth my trust. I’d rather fight alone than be dragged down by a bunch of dead weight.”
Weirafiya’s reasoning was quite straightforward. If they succeed, she would rightfully join them as a companion in the fight against the Adrian People. But if they fail, it would show their weakness, making it pointless to fight alongside them when she could go solo.
“So… Miss, what do you think their chances of success are?”
“From my view, maybe around 5%.”
As Weirafiya twirled a strand of her hair, she stated this with a nonchalant attitude.
“Only that low? Seems like they’re in a pretty grim situation.”
Upon hearing the dire estimate of just 5% from the lady, Yaser couldn’t help but feel pity for this group of people.
“That 5% only occurs if they perform extraordinarily well and the enemy takes it easy. You should know how terrifying those Adrian folks are. Remember that time we barely escaped? It was a miracle we got out alive.”
“That’s true. The strength of the Adrian People is indeed terrifying.”
Yaser recalled the time when he and Weirafiya charged into their base camp, barely managing to break free from their encirclement and return to this world. Even now, thinking back sends shivers down his spine. Though he and the lady had grown stronger, even assaulting their base didn’t give them the upper hand. Not to mention, their current strength didn’t even compare to that of the Little Princess or Yake.
In conclusion, Weirafiya’s estimate of a mere 5% chance for the group was spot-on. Even if the two of them faced off, their odds wouldn’t exceed 10%.
“Should we help them out?”
“Of course. If they can’t hold on, I won’t just stand by and watch. They are my fellow countrymen from Earth, after all.”
While Weirafiya had set up a test for Aierjisi, she didn’t plan to remain a mere spectator. If Aierjisi’s life were in danger during this trial, she would definitely step in to assist.
“Since you say so, I can relax a bit. Let’s drink to our hearts’ content!”
Yaser raised his cup, clinking it against Weirafiya’s before downing the drink in one go.
“Bartender, another drink for me!” ✖️2
The two of them exchanged glances and shared a grin.
“Coming right up.”
Meanwhile, after meeting with Weirafiya, Aierjisi returned to Yake.
“Aier, you’re finally back! So, was that girl the one you were looking for?”
Seeing Aierjisi return, Yake eagerly asked about the situation.
“Yeah. That girl is the last companion I need, the Phoenix, Weirafiya.”
Aierjisi sat down, taking a swig of her beer as she told Yake everything.
“That’s awesome! We should have the team together now, right? With the Blood Clan Princess and the Phoenix joining forces, we’ll rescue Ailin in no time!”
Yake began to envision a thrilling scene of Aierjisi, Ailin, and Weirafiya teaming up against the Adrian People. What an epic battle that would be!
“Not quite… we’ve hit a small snag. We’ll have to rescue Ailin ourselves; Weirafiya won’t be joining us.”
“Huh? What happened? Did you say something to upset her?”
Upon hearing that the Phoenix wouldn’t be helping, Yake’s first reaction was to wonder if Aierjisi had inadvertently offended her. If so, they’d need to hurry and apologize!
“No, it’s just that Weirafiya thinks we’re too weak to be her companions. She wants us to strengthen our abilities first and show her some results before she’ll consider teaming up.”
Aierjisi felt helpless. Talking about getting stronger sounded easy, but this wasn’t a game world where you could just grind for levels. Here, how you actually improved was a mystery. How could they get stronger?
“I see, so she thinks we’re beneath her, huh? But the strength issue… that’s definitely a problem. If only I had more powerful equipment…”
Yake began to reflect on his past experiences as an adventurer, realizing that a strong adventurer needs not only a robust body but also equipment that matched their strength. But sadly, his current weapon was…
“Don’t worry about the weapon; I’ve already asked Ouxs to upgrade it for you. Once it’s ready, its power should be significantly stronger. Plus, I’ve got an even more powerful weapon prepared for you. But right now, you wouldn’t be able to handle it, so I’ve sealed it within my body. I’ll give it to you when you’re ready to stand on your own.”
Aierjisi touched her chest, where the sealed weapon, crafted from ancient materials found in the ruins, lay hidden.
“Really? It’s ready? Can I see it now?”
Hearing that Aierjisi had prepared a new weapon filled Yake with excitement. What could be more thrilling for an adventurer than acquiring new gear?
“Nope. You can’t handle it yet. When you’re ready, I’ll hand it over. Until then, let’s keep it a secret.”
“Aw, come on! That’s so stingy!”
Yake’s enthusiasm was dampened as Aierjisi splashed cold water on his excitement, leaving a disappointed expression on his face.
