Chapter 19: That Yake Really Sucks
Chapter 19: That Yake Really Sucks
“Harker.”
At the man’s call, a golden-haired guy stepped out from the crowd and knelt before him.
“I’m here. What may I do for you, my lord?”
Harker quietly asked, unsure why his lord had summoned him out of the blue.
“I sensed a familiar surge of magic power, and it matches exactly with that of the Blood Clan Princess who mysteriously disappeared 300 years ago.”
“What do you mean, my lord?”
Upon hearing this, Harker started to piece together why he had been called.
“So, what do you say? Do you want to take on this chance to recover your losses? If you succeed, your status in the organization would certainly rise a lot.”
His lord looked down at Harker, asking if he’d like to undertake this mission. If successful, Harker’s standing in the organization would skyrocket.
“Leave it to me! I’ll bring that Little Princess before you. Now, I’ll take my leave.”
“Very well, go. I’m looking forward to your good news.”
With that, Harker vanished into the darkness, preparing to execute this mission.
Meanwhile, in the ruins located somewhere in the Kingdom, another member of the Blood Clan awakened from a long seal.
“Ah… where is this? I seem to remember…”
Aisi looked around, trying to recall his last memory. He had been in the Royal Palace teaching Aierjisi new magic. What exactly happened to him?
【Aisi, Aisi, Aisi.】
“Who’s calling me?”
Someone was indeed calling his name, and Aisi searched for the source of the voice. Finally, he spotted a faint light emanating from somewhere in the cave.
“That’s… Misty.”
Recognizing the figure cast by the light, Aisi instantly identified her as Misty, the high priestess of the Blood Clan.
【Aisi, I’m sorry for sealing you here. By the time you awaken and see this message, many years will have passed, and I will long be gone.】
The projection of Misty was merely a remnant of her former self, not the real person.
“What on earth happened?”
Aisi was clueless about the current situation and what had transpired.
“You must be very curious about what just happened. I’m sorry, but I can’t tell you. However, I can say that your awakening means Aierjisi has also awakened somewhere in the world. You must protect her before the cult captures her. She is the only hope to save the Blood Clan. I’m counting on you.”
After delivering this message, the image of Misty vanished.
“The Blood Clan… I remember now. That damn traitor, Harker!”
Remembering what had happened before his sealing, Aisi realized the Blood Clan had been living peacefully on the continent when they were attacked by an unknown cult. Harker’s betrayal had made it impossible for them to fend off these intruders, leading to their defeat.
“Aierjisi, I wonder where you are now?”
Although he longed for revenge against Harker, Aisi decided to prioritize the bigger picture first. Following Misty’s words, he resolved to find the Princess before formulating his next moves.
Meanwhile, Yake, who was completely unaware that he was about to be embroiled in a major incident, was in his own courtyard sparring with Aierjisi. Rather than sparring, it was more like Aierjisi putting Yake through special training. The reason was simple: Yake was just too weak, pitifully weak, and facing future battles like this was simply not an option. Aierjisi decided to take it upon herself to toughen him up.
“Ow!”
Yake was once again unceremoniously thrown aside by Aierjisi, screaming as he lay on the ground in agony.
He had thought Aierjisi’s magic was impressive, but her close combat skills were another level. Reality slapped him hard in the face; in just martial arts, Aierjisi utterly dominated him.
“Get up and keep going.”
Aierjisi waved to Yake, urging him to stand up and continue training.
“Your fighting skills are way too terrifying! Where did you learn this stuff?”
Remembering the combat techniques Aierjisi had used earlier, Yake was bewildered. Was this kind of fighting even humanly possible? Though, Aierjisi wasn’t exactly human.
“Oh, that? It’s something called [Cosmic Fist Art, Secret Technique]. I was forced to practice it by Master Leo when I was little. Back then, I used to spar with him all day long, and I guess I unknowingly mastered this combat style.”
Thinking back to his childhood fights with Master Leo in the wilderness day and night, Aierjisi couldn’t help but shiver. Those special training sessions were just too terrifying. They included everything from cutting waterfalls to hitting bullseyes and even colliding with carts. If she weren’t a member of the Blood Clan with incredible recovery abilities, she probably would have collapsed back then.
“Geez, you’re really pathetic, Yake. You two have been at it for almost an afternoon and you haven’t won once.”
Xier sat nearby, munching on a watermelon while watching them fight. She gained a new understanding of Aierjisi’s strength. Her older brother, while not the absolute top-tier adventurer, was still in the first league. Yet here he was, getting tossed around like a rag doll by Aierjisi. This Little Princess’s power was indeed terrifying.
“If you think saying that is easy, why don’t you try taking a couple of hits from her? Ow, my poor back!”
Yake got back up and took his stance once more to launch another furious attack at Aierjisi.
“Too many unnecessary movements. If you keep that up during a real battle, you’ll get exposed and it will be instant death.”
While blocking Yake’s attacks, Aierjisi aimed for his openings to counterattack. However, she only used light strikes, not actually hitting him hard.
Yake absorbed Aierjisi’s advice, trying to reduce his unnecessary movements during his offense.
“Alright, let’s call it a day. The sun is setting. We’ll rest tonight and continue tomorrow. I need to return to my books.”
Seeing the sun nearing the horizon, Aierjisi concluded today’s special training. After all, Yake was just a human, and he couldn’t compare with her stamina as a Blood Clan member. Plus, she wanted to keep studying the history book she had bought to understand the world better and determine her next actions.
