Chapter 16: The Phoenix Observing in the Shadows
Chapter 16: The Phoenix Observing in the Shadows
“Oh? It seems that Little Princess of the Blood Clan has a bit of skill after all. She could face him head-on and even managed to scare him off!”
Weirafiya witnessed the recent battle. She acknowledged Aierjisi’s strength a bit. After all, she was also a fellow Earthling, and it wouldn’t do to make the Earth people look bad.
“If that little princess couldn’t handle it earlier, my lady, did you plan to rush in to help her? After all, she is our ally.”
Yaser leaned against the wall, having seen the fight too. He noticed how their lady had been itching to jump in for a fight from the very beginning.
The reason they came to this icy place was that they heard an Ice Dragon had been captured. That little princess probably came for the same reason.
“Huh? Who ever said such a person was our ally? The little princess’s strength is far from impressive. Don’t compare me with those fools.”
Weirafiya angrily kicked Yaser. There was no way she could be associated with someone like that.
“Alright, alright, not an ally, not an ally. So, my lady, what shall we do next? Just sit back and watch the chaos here, or go chat with the king to see if we can join in on this fight?”
“Of course, we’ll just continue to watch the show. That king has the audacity to throw such a tough code at me. There’s no way I’m going to help him out so easily! He needs to suffer a bit longer.”
Perhaps still remembering the humiliating code, Weirafiya chose not to jump into the fray right away. She intended to observe the situation a little longer and join the battle once that king couldn’t hold out anymore.
【This lady really holds a grudge, huh?】
“Alright, then. Let’s head back. There’s nothing to do here anyway.”
Yaser inwardly grumbled as he picked up Weirafiya and carried her back to the town.
Meanwhile, Gaia and the others were still deciphering information about Diablo. Aierjisi and Yake, feeling bored in the royal palace, decided to explore the place together.
“This palace still has a lot of interesting things, huh?”
“Yeah, indeed. There are things here that you don’t usually see.”
The two wandered through the palace, checking out various rooms to see what they contained. They stumbled upon numerous peculiar devices that piqued their interest.
【It’s fine to just look, but remember, no matter how curious you are, never reach out to touch those things. Understand?】
Before they began their exploration, Gaia had permitted them but also warned them not to touch anything to avoid any accidents.
“Yake, come quick! There are so many interesting things here!”
After opening a particular room, Aierjisi excitedly called out to Yake to come and see.
“I’m coming, I’m coming! What exactly did you find that’s so interesting?”
Yake approached and peeked inside. The room was filled with many unfamiliar devices in operation, and on the table lay various small components scattered about.
“This must be some kind of invention room for making magic devices or something. But then again, I think I heard it’s best not to enter these kinds of rooms without the owner’s permission.”
“Huh? What’s this?”
The parts and diagrams on the table caught Aierjisi’s eye, making her forget Gaia’s warning and she stepped right in to inspect them.
“Hey, Aier! What are you doing in there? Get out! It’s best if you don’t go in that room. I heard that entering without the owner’s permission could really annoy them.”
Seeing Aierjisi walk in alone, Yake followed her in and tried to pull her back by the hand.
“Don’t worry, I’m not that uptight. I’m very welcoming to guests in my room, you two are both welcome here.”
“Huh? Mr. Ouxs, is this your room?”
Both turned around to find Ouxs standing at the door, watching them.
“Yes, indeed. I am the palace sage and sometimes I like to tinker with a few inventions.”
Ouxs adjusted his glasses as he walked in.
“Mr. Ouxs, I wanted to ask, did you design this diagram yourself?”
Aierjisi handed the diagram to Ouxs, as it looked oddly familiar to her. She felt like she’d seen similar designs back on Earth.
“No, this diagram wasn’t designed by me. Actually, it was given to me by Lady Ailin. It’s too bad I hadn’t completed the actual device before Lady Ailin was captured. I’ll have to set this aside for now and resume once I rescue her.”
“I see. So it’s from Ailin. That explains why it looks so familiar.”
Looking at the diagram, Aierjisi thought it wasn’t surprising that Ailin, also from Earth, would create a design that felt familiar.
“By the way, Mr. Ouxs, why did you suddenly come back? Has the analysis of Diablo been completed?”
Yake didn’t forget to ask about the analysis of Diablo. They had become bored because the others were still busy analyzing and no one accompanied them.
“It’s completed. I returned to this room to work on some inventions that Lord Gaia ordered me to finish.”
“Oh? What kind of inventions?”
“An Energy Extraction Device. After we completed the analysis, we discovered that those Ultimate Life Forms do not have infinite energy. If we can somehow extract their energy before the battle, we could significantly weaken their combat abilities.”
“I see. But there’s no way those guys would just let us extract their energy willingly.”
If someone dared to extract her magic power, Aierjisi would guarantee they’d end up dead first. The Adrian People probably thought the same way; no one would willingly let their energy be drawn away without putting up a fight.
