chapter 29
29 – New Gladiator-15
“Ugh, the main character is here! Why are you so late?”
“What do you like? Come quickly…”
“Everyone was waiting for you!”
When I opened the door to the bar and entered, the gladiators greeted me with a smile.
“If you come, let’s have a drink!
“It doesn’t feel dirty…”
“What is it, why did you bring that sister?”
“Since one person lost, one person should not be congratulated.”
Next to me, Marie was following me with an awkward smile.
“Wow, are you interested? Wasn’t Dana single-minded?”
“No, I didn’t really bring it with that intention.”
Most of the people who entered the bar were gladiators, but some people seemed to be just ordinary customers.
“Oh, sister. Are the wounds okay?”
“Well, eating a meal is enough.”
Those people looked at me and hurriedly lowered their eyes, or on the contrary, looked at me with their mouths wide open.
“Sit down, sit down! You’re the main character here, right? Let’s enjoy the party!”
“…Can’t the winner just sit down?”
The gladiators twisted the table arrangement in the bar and made a seat that looked like the tallest person could sit.
“If you treat the table like this, what does the boss here say?”
“How much do we increase sales, you have to accept this much! Isn’t that right, boss?”
“Oh, yes!”
For some reason, the innkeeper with a hoarse voice had a pretty beautiful body.
Seeing her voluptuous breasts scattering around and carrying a glass, my eyes were drawn to her unknowingly.
“Isn’t everyone doing it like this…?”
“I’ll do it! Well, it’s not that many people get together this much, but… Some of my close friends will buy me a drink. Anyway, have a drink!”
As I drank the rough beer, I felt a subtle taste that seemed to be alive.
I couldn’t say it was delicious, but it definitely seemed to have a different taste than the beer I had in Korea.
After I drank it all the way, the alcohol level didn’t look that strong. It made my stomach full, and I felt like I wouldn’t be able to eat meat if I drank too much.
Unlike the meals in the Colosseum, which were protein-oriented but seemed like at least an attempt to balance nutrition, meals here literally existed only for pleasure.
“Still, thanks for coming. I thought you’d hate a place like this.”
“…Why?”
“You’ve never been out of the Colosseum before, have you?”
I scratched my head. Come to think of it, it was.
Talking with Daisy, training, sleeping, jogging, eating, talking with other gladiators.
“That… There was nothing to come out of it, right?”
“Really? You didn’t come out for no reason, because there was nothing to come out?”
“Being inside is kind of fun… Isn’t it?”
Thinking about it again, I thought that if there was a place like a library nearby, I would go into it a few times.
But, otherwise, I didn’t feel the need to come out.
“That’s why all of a sudden… Hey, what are you guys doing?”
The person who asked me the question was taking out a coin from a large pocket and handing it out to the gladiators around him.
“Oh, I’m giving back the money I deposited in advance. The bet turned out to be a draw.”
“Is it a bet again?”
No matter how you think about it, the gladiators must have been severe gambling addicts.
Still, it was fortunate among the misfortunes that what came out of the pocket was a fairy tale. Because it wasn’t that much money.
“What is it this time?”
“Some kids said you wouldn’t come out because you were scared, and others bet you didn’t come out because you were dirty.”
“No, what do you look at people for…”
To be honest, it’s not that there aren’t parts that scare me.
I wouldn’t know if it was on the main street, but I didn’t want to wander around the alleyways. Even if you have a proper sword, if you come in groups of dozens like that time, you might get hurt even if you win.
“I didn’t go out because I liked the Colosseum. Isn’t the food served there well?”
“Yeah, that’s true. Lady over there! You have to be nervous! Our Evan comes out and the rice comes out really well! Butter and wheat bread come out as standard!”
“Hey, you bastard. If you see an ordinary person playing a gambler and follow him, you’ll disgrace him. How do I copy that?”
“No, but we’re talking about it because we’re affectionate? If it’s really like this, nobody might come here!”
“Anyway, you guys are going to keep coming for drinks. All right. That, bachelor. Would you like some honey wine? Sorry, but there’s no wine or cider here.”
“Ah, thank you.”
When I took a glass and drank it down, I felt the taste of alcohol rather than sweet.
“Wait, was our meal going well because of me?”
“Uh… Was this a secret? Yes. The chef’s sister really likes it because the budget has increased.”
It felt like I found out another secret I couldn’t even imagine. When I said I didn’t want to receive special treatment, did I just raise the quality of my diet?
“Well, anyway, so… Not a virgin- how was your first fight?”
“Wait a minute, I think the strange words just passed by.”
“That, so, between us, when a gladiator finishes the first fight, that…”
The gladiator, who spoke confidently, blurted out what was so difficult.
“I’m curious, so tell me quickly. I won’t say anything.”
“That’s, um… That’s how the hymen is broken. That, I wasn’t going to talk about it in front of a man, uh… I’m sorry.”
“It’s nothing. Well, first fight… Well, next time I’ll win.”
“It’s simpler than I thought. It’s a good posture. Even simple kids like knives and weapons are easy to manage. Those who use nets and those who use complicated weapons have a lot of trouble.”
Some things are a little wordy, but it must be a good word that I will be able to endure for a long time.
Looking around, the atmosphere had subsided slightly. Rather than a lack of excitement, it was an image that noticed in many ways.
“What, why are you suddenly like this?”
“I have to have fun with the loser, but who can say that to you?”
The person who answered my words was Dana, who entered the bar before I knew it. When she saw her red hair and confident smile, she smiled spontaneously.
“Oh, when did you come?”
“I was a little late because I had a lot of work.”
Dana naturally intervened in the seat next to me and sat down. The gladiator who was originally sitting puffed out her cheeks with a dissatisfied expression, but she didn’t even seem to care.
“No, don’t go after the loser, huh? Praise the winner. That’s why I brought you here.”
“Oh, no Marie sister. She brought her baby.”
“…Baby?”
Come to think of it, there was nothing strange about it.
In a world where there are not so many men, how is society maintained in this world?
Even if each man gave birth to ten or twenty children, it seemed that the population would not be maintained.
Considering the men of Selam, it was unlikely that they would be so enthusiastic about making children.
“Mom!”
“Welcome! No, you can wait at home…”
“I want to see Evan too!”
He was an ordinary child, about ten years old.
“That… Who is the father of the child by any chance?”
“Dad? There’s no way a gladiator could be like that.”
“I thought it would, but…”
“Those who can never meet a man, eat the fruit that contains the energy of life. If you wait for a few weeks, you can give birth to a child without a man.”
After all, it seemed that there was a way. It’s not easy to understand with my common sense, but can I just think of it as a kind of magic-artificial sperm?
“Then why do you hang yourself like that?”
“Well, there are several reasons. If we have to talk about babies… Children born that way cannot have magical powers for the rest of their lives.”
“mana?”
“Pulling out sword skills, using magic… Well, the world has improved these days, so even a child born like that can use simple magic, but they can’t use proper magic. It’s not efficient.”
Still, I thought it was fortunate.
Marie’s face as she looked at her child was literally full of happiness.
It would be too harsh for her to have to give up that kind of happiness just because she never met a man.
“No one likes a woman with a child, so it’s something that is rarely done in aristocratic families.”
“Whoa…”
I should have known at least this kind of knowledge when reading books in Selam, but it was a bit of a regret.
Well, it was a library for men in Selam, the upper class at the pinnacle of society. There wouldn’t have been many books that gave such trivial knowledge.
A child born without a father and the population problem of these ordinary people would have been a different world to them.
Once again, I thought it was good that I came here.
“Well, anyway… You did well. You’re doing well now. As Daisy told you, there are many kids who wander around for a while after experiencing their first defeat.”
“Until I beat you, it will never happen.”
Dana smiled broadly at me.
“Hey, hey, don’t have a good time just the two of you!”
A blonde, dark-skinned gladiator howled as she slammed her glass on the table.
“That and that, look at that b*tch getting jealous again.”
“Anyway, the kid is just grumpy, and if you mess with him, wouldn’t you also come to rescue a man who got lost in a back alley?”
“These b*tches… I just said, uh! We got together, so let’s have a toast and talk a little bit together!”
“I’m sorry, but it was an excuse to feel inferior.”
Drunk gladiators chatted loudly among themselves. Me and Dana were able to get drunk with the atmosphere right away.
