Chapter 674: Turning Their Own Tricks Against Them
Lis is certain that his opponent has prepared some hidden tactics unknown to him.
And ones that can attract a Legendary Mage!
Otherwise, why would the opponent pay such a price?
Lis felt a bit contemplative as he looked at the room full of treasures before him.
These treasures of the Magic Empire might hold little value for others.
After all, whether it's a Magic Book or Magic Items, they're already near collapse and don't serve much purpose.
But it's different for Lis.
The knowledge and experience contained within are extremely important to Lis.
Although much of this ancient magic knowledge may be outdated, Lis can still absorb nourishment from their development and changes, supplementing himself.
So, Lis is indeed somewhat grateful to that secretive force unknown to all this.
If it were like this and I still didn't venture out, would the opponent be so furious they'd vomit blood?
Lis stroked his chin, thinking playfully.
However, Lis is certain that aside from these Magic Items, the opponent must have prepared something else for him.
And it's very likely that this preparation of theirs is more alluring to him as a Legendary Mage than those previous Magic Books and Magic Items.
Lis smiled as he looked at Mora; if he's not mistaken, the exploratory team exploring the Magic Empire ruins has surely brought back other findings.
A reason enough for him to actively venture into the small world of the Misty Wilderness.
Noticing Lis's inquiry, Mora nodded and said:
"As per your requirements, I've arranged for more powerful Professionals to explore that ruin; these in front of you are the spoils gathered from that ruin."
"Now, most of that ruin has been thoroughly explored by the exploration team, except for one place that remains inaccessible."
With that said, Mora took out a sheepskin scroll and unfurled it in front of Lis.
Lis glanced at it, and the drawings on the scroll immediately caught his eye.
The charcoal drawing at the top of the sheepskin scroll, though simple, vividly captured the scene of the recorded location.
Simple charcoal lines illustrated the imagery of a hall.
It seemed to be a quite distinctive hall, with clearly visible Nasery-style patterns on the surrounding walls, giving an overall atmosphere of majesty and oppressiveness.
Compared to the surrounding architecture, this hall appeared relatively intact.
But what caught the eye the most was the object within the hall.
The person who drew this picture evidently focused more effort on this object, even using charcoal pencils with special colors.
A black magic wand was slantingly stabbed into the ground, existing as the sole object in the entire hall.
This wand was as long as an adult man's arm, the staff covered in cobweb-like cracks, with parts around the center broken, exposing charred crystal cluster structures inside, resembling a withered tree struck by lightning stubbornly standing amidst scorched earth.
At the tip of the wand floated three irregular prism gemstones, two of which were already dimmed, leaving only the central pigeon blood stone pulsating with a faint blue arc.
Whenever the arc surged, the runes etched on the ground would light up with dark golden patterns, closely inspected numerous tiny lightning patterns connected intricately, as if slightly flowing currents were seeping into the surrounding air.
Lis marvelled at the craftsmanship of the one who created this drawing, capturing the scene like a photograph, allowing Lis to feel the mystery of that hall and the mystical nature of the black wand.
No need for Mora to mention, Lis already knew the key was in this wand, as stated earlier.
However, Lis had no impression of this wand, but it should at least be at the Legendary Level.
Mora pointed to the image on the sheepskin scroll, indicating the wand, and said gravely:
"After the first exploration, I specifically arranged several Professionals of Golden Rank to enter this ruin, aiming to eliminate as many dangers within the ruin and explore the interior environment as possible."
"Now, most of this ruin has been cleared; a majority of its buildings have collapsed under countless passing years, except for the central palace of the ruin which remains perfectly intact."
"According to the exploratory team's description, this palace lacks a doorway, allowing a clear view of the palace interior from the outside, just as depicted in this drawing, with nothing existing apart from that black wand."
"And this hall is sealed by a powerful magical barrier, though not dangerous, no one has been able to enter the hall through the barrier."
"The exploration team attempted to attack this magical barrier, but it had no effect, and even those few Professionals of Golden Rank were the same."
"However, they didn't succeed; they might not have gone all out, but they all stated that they sensed this magical barrier couldn't be breached simply with their abilities."
"Therefore, they all believe it's a magical barrier constructed above Legendary strength, something they have no capability of successfully breaking through."
"With such a powerful magical barrier as protection, perhaps this mysterious object is the reason why this suspected Magic Empire ruin has survived countless years?"
"And for this black wand to have such a strong magical barrier safeguarding it, it must be an extremely important artifact!"
